Ok this shall be the OOC thread.

Standard char creation, all three books allowed {Core,Sunward and gatecrashing}

Station Info

Spoiler:

Arch Royal " The Arc"
Orbit: MEO
Station Type: Torus
Allegiance: Lunar-Lagrange Alliance
Primary Languages: English,French, Mandarin
Major Industries: Salvage

The Arc started life as a grand hotel orbiting at Earths L1 Lagrange point. Then came the fall and all those desperate people fleeing a dying world, The Arc was overwhelmed by refugees, its Splendider
marred by shanty-towns, hovels, and camps. Its once lush groves of exotic plants hacked to bits for firewood and shelter.

Now the station sits in a no mans land of drifting and abandoned Habitats, overlooking a ruined world no one wants to really see, populated by people no one really wants and who have no where else to go and most have no means of going if they did.

Officially The Arc belongs to the Lunar-Lagrange Alliance, but really it has no power within the LLA and is often ignored or used as a dumping ground for the unwanted and those wishing to hide. However its location does make it useful for salvages as well as smugglers and people who just do not want anyone looking to closely. And the Arcs Government is corrupt enough not to care as long as they profit.

The Arc can be divided into three sections. Central control,The Ring and The spine.

Central control is the Center most area of the Ring. The heart of the station, this is the never center and controls not only the ring exists but the Spine as well. The government is centered here and still live in the only well maintained pre fall splendor left upon the Arc.

The ring is the largest area upon the Arc and has been given over to shanty towns and refugees and criminals. The Ring can be Split inot six sectors.

Sector 1: This used to be the shopping center of the arc with splendor abound and everything a guest could want. Now it is a hive of packed hasty built shacks and open markets, selling anything and everything, salvage, drugs, xp,prostitution, you name it and someone here can get it, for a price.

Sector 2: Used to be spas and parks with breath taking Views of the earth. Now it stands as a run down, poverty stricken area for those who have no where else to go. The once grand views now reminders of the horrors of the fall and no one wants to stare at the dead world for long. A sect of reclaimers have taken over an old spa house and operate out of the section.

section 3: Lovely dubbed "china town" This used to be the quarters of the staff, it became a haven for both them and their families as well as many refugees. Section three is crime heavy but well run and with much less Violent crime then other sections of the station. Outsiders are not welcome here.

Section 4: This used to be the Guest suites and is now little more then sections shanty towns and clannish gangs control much of this section. The section can be relatively safe as ling as you throw in with one of the gangs

Section 5: This was also Guest suites, but the section was damaged sometime after the fall and never repaired. With no life support and little in the way of power the section stayed abandoned for a while. Now days it is a haven for sythamorphs who live here away from those who fear and oppress them, many work salvage or station maintenance.

Section 6: Once the greeting area as well as containing resleeving facilities, this area is now under the firm control of station government

The spine contains the life support, station functions , cargo and docking area's. As well as several communities of Uplifts who have carved a home for themselves out of the stations innards. Many such communities lack gravity, being outside the ring.

Dotting this as I saw it pop up and for ease of finding it again.

Re-stating I'll be an Infolife - Argonaut in an Arachnoid Morph. Focus is very heavy on computer skills with a little bit of combat and almost zero socials.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Heh ya beat me posting the link. I'll get to looking over what you posted sometime soonish .

I've been obsessive compulsive refreshing the spoilers popping up on UC so saw it flash up.

For gear, do I have it correct in assuming we just use the average costs? - so a 'Moderate' cost item would be 1,000 and a 'High' would be 5,000? Are there any modifiers we apply?

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Yes use the Average cost of gear for char gen. No modifiers I can think of off hand that you would use.

Just a re-post of the info I put up in the Recruitment thread, compiled here for single point of reference.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Sorry did not have time yesterday to look over anyone else sheets, will see if I can get time today to do that. I was not singling you out Mark, you just happen to be the first one { and only one} I got to so far.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Guys I will try and get to the sheets later this evening, I had a busy weekend here.

Anyone got any suggestions on what to spend the rest of my points on?

Man if only I had 161 CP to spend right now. ;-)

Looking at your list, it goes without saying that if you can dump some points into Specializations for your skills that would be good. Free +10's is pretty awesome.

Also, since you have the points to burn, putting a few into other combat-based skills, kinetic weapons and blades most likely, wouldn't hurt. In the same vein, maybe some other back-up weapons and beefing up the laser pulser with some add-ons wouldn't hurt. Looking at your list, with Beam weapons only you're limiting yourself should something happen and you can't find access to any. Having Unarmed is good and will always leave you with something, but if we find a cache of SMG's and need to suddenly use them in a firefight, better to not have to just default to your Aptitude rating. You certainly don't need to be combat-focused or anything but a few points can't hurt.

Lastly, you can always beef up your rep scores with some points, if you still have extra.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Ok guys, been busy again. But I Will get those sheets at some point in the next day or so. We can also chat about how and why each pc is on the arc. New been there a while? Local?

I plane to build some communities on the station and will be working in some PC angles.

I wanted to start this week, but barring that I will be starting next Monday.

Mark, Jon has given you good advice, Rep and skills make or break you. Bodies change, death is only a minor issue, but who you know and what you know are the key.

So Lets see what we have.

Mark: Infolife - Argonaut, looks to be an all round academic. What are your motivations?
Balodek: Ultimate-Merc, Rounded combat guy.
Jonasty:Argonaut-Spacer: Looks to be a salvage man: What are your motivations?
Kassil: Uplift-Mercurial: Salvage/genehacker.

So looks like we shall have 4. Any questions?

I'm thinking recently on the arc, probably relaxing after a job, the heat is off and I'm far from where I pulled it off. Killing time and waiting for the next mission, or seeing if anything strikes my fancy.

I was thinking that one way I could be present on the station is as an infolife quantum farcast into a space repair bot. He is our computer hacker / repair guy.

For motivations I'm thinking +Education, +Research, +Techno-Progressivism, -Hedonism, -Religion

I'll try and finish finish my character today and post up with an alias.

And just noticed the query on fractal digits - it's on page 311 of the core rulebook.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Cool ty mark, I knew I over looked it somewhere. Keep in mind that Earth orbit watches and restricts Info life heavily. But you could also work on an Alt ID with your points, passing as something Not an Info life. At lest to get past the security. But then Hacking out your records could be fun too.

Ok Balodek, The Arc could be a good place to wait for jobs, it is a bit more stable then places like Fresh kills. Being a LLA station it does have a bit more law {If corrupt} and a bit more ties to some hypercorps and legit salvage teams.

Ok I think I'm mostly done. I think I still have a few points left, but wanted to be sure I didn't screw up the math somewhere before I go spend the rest on gear.

Hey, I'm still here, but I think I'm having the same week you are. I also had the character mostly created and then found a spreadsheet fillable thingy. It seems to be accurate, I'm just trying to figure out where to enter everything. I keep feeling like I've overspent, but still have a lot of points left. In any case, I'll have one or the other posted up here tomorrow, if that works.

Here's what I have thus far minus basic gear, which I will add tomorrow. According to the spreadsheet I still have 61 pts left, but there's a couple of areas I need to read over, so that'll probably clear up tomorrow as well.
TITUS

BIO::
Titus was raised in a research laboratory in central Texas. He later worked there at various mundane tasks, once things became chaotic enough that uplift experimentation tapered off at the lab in favor of more militarized applications. He saw to basic, day-to-day activities until the facility was eventually firebombed due to hostile public sentiment toward the work done there.

He salvaged and traded what he could from the remaining outbuildings and made his way to the nearest shuttle leaving Earth. Once there, Titus had to force his way onto the shuttle in spite of his ticket, as there were humans demanding his seat. Things were about to become violent when the pilot received instruction to take off due to hostile nanite-swarm activity near the site.

They weren't quick enough, however, and by the time they'd exited the stratosphere the hull began slowly disintegrating. The moon being too far to attempt, the pilot and passengers abandoned ship within hailing distance of the nearest habitat: The Arch Royal.

Since arriving, Titus has spent most of the last decade working at odd jobs, largely as security for seedy employers, jobs requiring brute strength or working at dangerous heights, and occasionally as a debt collector. He hates the work, and spends his spare time reading or studying with his muse at every opportunity. Initially he focused on biology and zoology, the areas of focus at the facility where he was raised. Time spent as a goon for the criminal element on the Arc, however, has driven him to true-crime, forensic science, and police procedural texts, initially out of spite but later out of real interest.

He signed on with Firewall when approached largely out of boredom, though it has yet to provide any break in routine and he has all but forgotten about it.

Ok, guys had a car accident nothing to awful bad, but it killed our car and it may put me a bit more behind then I planned.

Seeker - Good to hear that all the fleshy human bits are ok, even if the car is cactus.

Take the time you need to get things straight. I ain't goin nowhere.

Shadow Lodge

Echo Mark, glad you're ok and take your time to sort things out.

Ditto on the sympathies. The fact that you're willing to run EP on the boards is awesome, I'll wait it out with the rest. Good luck, car stuff is a b+$@!.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Thanks guys. I am gonna have to spend most of the weekend trying to get it drivable, but will try to get rolling as soon as I can.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Ok guys still here, the machine gods do not love me, but in between working on the car I will get those sheets checked , among other things and will get rolling no later then Thursday. If everyone is ready by then.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Hey guys I was in an accident (yes another one) that totaled the car (well truck) and got a bit beat up. I'll update as soon as I can.

...Maybe you should just avoid cars, man.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

You are not the first to say that, and in fact I went two years without driving after the 07 accident.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Ok long over due here. Sorry for the long wait.

Balodek: Know skills I got you at 300, active at 565, with your morph and extra moxi along with the traits and such you are at -10 points before I even get to gear.

Jonasty: I am getting your know skills at 401, which puts you at -33 before I add gear. Its -47 when I count the specialization

Kassil: Direction sense puts you at -5 before counting gear.

I'll get to Chris and Mark some time tomorrow as it is near 2 am and I need to crash

Shadow Lodge

I'll need to double check tonight, there may be a typo in my skills.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

I'll double check myself this evening, I have two spreadsheets I can use and I'll get to the last two.

Now one more thing. Muses. What is your muse like? What is it's name? what personality does it have?

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

I've not the time this eve, but will be polishing up my guy tomorrow - inclusive of profile, etc.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Trust me man I under stand about time. I picked a bad time to start one lol. I have never been so slow getting a pbp off the ground, but trying to knock these out before I need to get off line today

Shadow Lodge

Ok I see the problem. The spreadsheet I used assumes a starting point total of 1000. Is this not correct?

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

It was 1000, I am gonna double check my numbers just in case. What sheet are you using?

Shadow Lodge

The first one under Character Sheets and Player Tools on the Eclipse Phase website.

As Balodeck used a sheet, I am gonna double check his first to make sure I am not screwing up :)

On sheet 91.1 and double checking with book as I go

Points left 895

Stats:

You get a +5 somewhere not sure where you put it.looks like I missed that last time.

Ego 25
COG 15
COO 25
INT 15
REF 25
SAV 10
SOM 20
WIL 25
No cost it looks like

Traits:

Innocuous Cost 10 points
Tough (Level 3) cost 30 points

points 855

Skills:

I may have missed up some here.I am just gonna list ones I think you paid points for. As your background bonus were not listed I may have left those out.

Your background gives you a modifier of 50 points. So I took those off the skills I had saved { maybe not the right skills as they are unmarked) and this leaves you 60 points

Gear looks pretty much right so.

So I have screwed up. Ignore the last three as I recheck them all. Now I screwed up because this being the first time I have double checked EP states I was not there when they were made so i left some key instructions out.

Namely you should always state where points came from, But I did not tell you to do so.This was my mistake and in the future I will take note of it :) Now I got to double check my numbers to make sure I didn't screw the others up.

Balodek you are good to go.

So I didn't use a sheet, I did everything in Word with a calculator so there's plenty of room for error. I will double check my math again. Let me know if you're still finding a discrepancy.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Ok total redo of my screw up.

Balodeck: As stated before you look good.
Jonasty:

Break down:
I am still getting you at -5 before the gear. Skills are where we seem to have the issue. I am getting 546 active, 343 know and 15 points of specialization

Kassil:You also look ready to go
J, Christopher:

Breakdown:
I am getting -7 before the gear. I have you at 535 active skills and 372 know skills. Numbers are not matching some of yours when I add the listed ranks.

Mark: I'll get to you in the morning man.

No problems seeker - I know how much time it took to put one together so I feel nothing but sympathy for you going over 5 :)

seekerofshadowlight wrote:

Jonasty: ** spoiler omitted **

So I'm confused but it's EP so that's unsurprising. I have the exact numbers you listed for my skills but by my understanding that should be fine.

I start with 1000 points, I took negative traits worth 25 giving me 1025 to spend which is what I total my CP cost to be.

CP points breakdown(1025 of 1025 spent):
Bouncer Biomorph (40)
Skills (total 889)(Active 546 + Know 343)
Extra Credits (25)
Traits (55)
Rep (1)
Specializations (15)

Humm I'll look back over it in the morning then. The only thing I can think that might be off right now is any skills over 60 cost 2 CP each, but think ya only had one or so over.

But I'll look over it again, its late and I could have made an error after all.

I understand that! Look forward to hearing back and thanks again for running this, especially with all that's been going on for you recently.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

I went and looked real fast and I have found the error I think. It is the skills. You have perception at a total of 70. While the number of skill points you have is correct, they do not always go 1 skill rank per 1 CP. Past 60 they cost 2 Cp each. So while you had 53 skill ranks in perception they cost 1 cp each til 60 and 2 CP each pot past 60. So at 70 it cost you a total of 63 points not 53 and that was the difference. 43 to get to 60 and 20 more CP to get from 60 to 70.
