Lio - i guess my love is unrequited... it's been 40 minutes with no reply.
Mel - Kyrademon is having spotty internet issues...
Lio - i like my version of events better.
Mel - i thought of something to post, but it's completely inappropriate for the forums.
o.O

A note about unsuccessful gifts and insults --
Some of you have been giving gifts or insults which are obviously appreciated, but which are not accepted by the AP rules as "appropriate" gifts or insults, even though I'm deliberately being fairly loose with my interpretation.
I don't want to break the mechanic or eliminate the fun of figuring out what NPC's really like, but it seems unfair to give no benefit whatsoever. So I've decided to handle it this way:
A cool gift or insult that doesn't increase your relationship score will give a cumulative bonus to your Diplomacy or Intimidation roll when you finally give one that does. So if you've tried a couple of times unsuccessfully, you'll at least get a bonus that kicks in from the accumulated good will, and increase your chances of getting a +2 when you finally hit on a game-accepted one.

Hrithik Ranbhir wrote:As for preferred character placement, Hrithik would like to be well behind RhostRhost probably should be on or near point. Low-light vision (although not darkvision), and maybe the highest Perception score....
Lio's got Perception +10, Survival + 12, but only Stealth +3 (so not much on the sneaking). Also, have Precise shot for no penalty for shooting into melee, and as is elven... can see in low light. So I guess she should be either in the front, or watching the back...

K. Take back what I said earlier. Lio can be closer to the front if she wants maybe Rhost ahead of her? Myri will be closer to the rear...unless an actual trap/lock is discovered. Actually, in this set up, not sure it really matters that much.
Agreeing now with Mel above, might as well keep Lio & Myri towards the back. Maybe Kalimac and Attatoc behind and everyone else in front? I'm sure Ry will probably just position us to most probably benefit anyway.

Archer, back :).
Honestly, I am not worried about it. Our characters are not idiots and Ry will take that into consideration when map drawing comes into play.
also have a sword ;)
and may i just say... stupid knowledge nature roll of 3 (for a total of 10) indeed, Lio is an urban druid.

no worries, Lio. Myri has you backed up on that one. ;)
She's a great secondary (or tertiary if Shalelu's around) on your skills (& some others).

As i nervously wait to see what jumps out at us...

I look forward to our next sparring match. Even if Mel did feel physically beat after the last one. :)
likewise :-)
sorry for Hrithik's ... brutal intensity. He can be something of a judgey judgmental judger. He's had to make huge efforts to put people's personal lives into his "not my business" category, or he'd be judgey there also.
Imagine 20 years of that as "normal", not being able to leave, and with that night being an example of a "mild rebuke", and you've got a good sense of his upbringing ... though he is trying to be better than it was.
A 2 is kinda like a 20. Visually, anyway. It's like 2 + 0, right? Math is hard.
This is why every crit fail is really just "taking 10"

Melinda Sorn |

Yeah... I know where he is coming from, Mel... not so much. I plead happy childhood. And she knows he's trying... but it's just not in her personality.

If this policy ever changes with respect to a certain 15-yr-old who is in way over her head. I will be highly amused. She won't.

Either way, if she doesn't offer another term of address, he would offer to address her by the Tian-Min word "Sensei", meaning "wise/good teacher", if she is willing to accept that. If she is not willing, he will continue to twist in the wind when it comes to addressing her.
(If there is a roleplay post from Lio, I can incorporate this stuff into a final response ... I just didn't want it to get lost entirely, if you don't post a reply.)

Tollin Elere |

Shouldn't we have searched the boat its self? All we did was search around it as far as I could tell fro the posts. I would have brought this up as Tollin but things had already moved on past that. Ry, would it be possible to use flex time and have Tollin search the actual boat?

Longships are one-decked vessels. There is no storage below-decks. What you see is generally what you get. Since the conclusion was: sunk in fight with lightning-breathing water monster, whose corpse is now being fed on by still more water monsters ... exploring the whole thing was potentially a dangerous distraction. Survivors would already have taken the most valuable stuff as they left.
In-character, if Tollin has an issue with being dragged from scene to scene without a single word, he might want to make an in-character comment to that effect to the character doing the dragging :)

Kalimac Proudfoot |

I just wanted to post something, but I had nothing really to say. It's not in Kalimac's idiom to dogpile on Mel, so the best I had was some description of his internal state.
Call that common sense if you want. I call it needing attention on the board. Which I've apparently succeeded in gaining. My plan worked! >:-)

I'm just going to apologize to everyone right now... Because I am well on my way to offending everyone. Sorry.
No need to apologize. A better portrayal of multi-layered inner turmoil I have not seen in a long while.
And don't worry about Hrithik too much. Ameiko likes Melinda, which means Hrithik cares for her more than is reasonable. Melinda would have to actually get someone killed for Hrithik to not be willing to travel with her. Mere shanking won't suffice for the task :-)

Melinda Sorn |

Eh.... Normally when I try to pull it off, Tollin goes, "So that was the bad guy's turn right? Now we can kill him." Don't think I've ever been allowed a monologue. Which leads to bad people keeping diaries, so you can find out why they were doing something after the fact.
That and when non-evil NPCs start having angst, Lio tries to kill them. (And yes, I'm talking about Aerys. Seriously, why you [focused you to the you in Hawaii] get along with manic-depressives better than just depressed and going through withdrawal, I don't know.)
Where was I? I thought I had a point when I started this.

Myriana Bayden |

Well, since this is ooc. I would have to put Mel just after the front line fighters as far as melee combat is concerned. Not looking over anybody, but she'd be a heck of a lot better than Myri in a melee fight. Although her hp's are a little low, Myri doesn't have the AC to stand a chance against her. Myri is strictly an archer with one feat towards allowing her to have a small effect in melee if her bow is removed. Despite being a full bab class, Myri has no illusions on who would end up on top if they ever got in a 'cat fight'. Just my two cents.
