VARIOUS NOTES ON A VARIETY OF STUFF AND THINGS, PART I:
1) I have the PDF of the final module. Yay!
2) Tenth level approaches with the end of this module, so it's a good time to talk about the 10th level Caravan Feat.
3) In addition, shortly after the start of the next module, you will come to a town where it is possible to purchase Caravan equipment. It might be a good idea to discuss this, too.
The GM will note that your attack score is still somewhat sub-par, even if you enhance it, and it is probably finally practical for you to buy Ballistas to increase your attack score if you wish to. It would currently be possible to mount up to two ballistas on the Caravan, on your supply wagons.
The big downside to ballistas is that they take up a huge amount of cargo space, so if you buy ballistas you would either have to either
A) Accept that and reduce your cargo - bear in mind you'll almost certainly be unloading six units of trade goods in Ordu-Aganhei and have little incentive to replace them (see below), so this isn't a bad option; get rid of a couple units of stored food, which you only use in emergencies at this point, and you're good to go ...
B) Increase your storage space by buying Bags of Holding, or ...
C) Increase your storage space by taking the Extra Wagons feat and getting more wagons.
Of course, these are not mutually exclusive. It is entirely within the realm of the reasonable to, say, sell all your trade goods, buy two ballistas, and get rid of some stores, AND buy a bag of holding to increase your repair material storage stocks.
(Yeah, yeah, I know that the actual plural is ballistae.)

VARIOUS NOTES ON A VARIETY OF STUFF AND THINGS, PART II:
4) Regarding the trade goods; I am ruling that any trade goods which have been brought over the Crown of the World from Avistan can be sold for 10 times their normal selling price once you reach Tian Xia. So Ordu-Aganhei will probably be a good place to sell those 6 units of trade goods that have been pretty useless up until now, and finally get some use out of that hitherto unused mechanic.

VARIOUS NOTES ON A VARIETY OF STUFF AND THINGS, PART III:
5) Regarding purchases in Ordu-Aganhei - that city has a purchase limit of 6,400 gp. That means:
- ANY nonmagical item that costs 6,400 gp or less is automatically considered available.
- All magic items that cost 6,400 gp or less have a 75% chance of being available.
- There is a limited selection of randomly rolled magic items costing more than 6,400 gp available, that I will post once shopping becomes possible.
In addition, I am modifying the rules to state the following:
- UPGRADES to magic items that cost less than 6,400 gp may be available, even if it would take the full item cost above 6,400 gp. That means that a +1 weapon that normally costs 2,000 gp can be upgraded to a +2 weapon that normally costs 8,000 gp by paying the 6,000 gp difference. (Remember that the cost of your claimed items is twice the claim value, if you wish to upgrade them.)
The following caveats apply to this:
A) Upgrading an item takes one day for each 1,000 gp of the upgrade cost. So if you give your +1 Sword of Swordliness to the merchant to be upgraded, if you are attacked in town while it is being worked on, you will not have it.
B) Upgrades that require a caster level of 11th level or lower are automatically available in Ordu-Aganhei. Upgrades that require a caster level of 12th level or higher are much less likely to be available, with a rapidly diminishing percentile probability rate. This is based on the town's statistics.
If you do not know how Upgrading works, feel free to ask

One clarification on upgrading, since I've been asked: Under my rules, you can only upgrade to an item that exists in the listings of the allowed source books.
So Amulet of Natural Armor +1 to Amulet of Natural Armor +2 is an allowed upgrade. However, Amulet of Natural Armor +1 to Combination Amulet of Natural Armor +1 And Amulet of Proof Against Detection and Location is not allowed.
Weapons and armor qualities are, under the rules, usually always legally addable with a few minor exceptions; it's perfectly legal to eventually get a +2 Holy Furious Keen Shocking Dagger made, although that would be rather expensive.

You're welcome. If there ever is anything specific you're looking for, let me know. I hit the local video stores hard when they were liquidating their VHS tapes, years ago.
All these magic swords! Where are the undead dwarfs and their magic hammers? No claims.
(Also? Bonus points to Kalimac)

Indeed. I clearly remember sitting in the lobby of the local college radio station when "The Big Sell-Out" arrived on vinyl, and one of the DJs was waxing rhapsodic about Ann Magnuson -- and I refuse to think about how long ago that was.
I will note that Nick Cave continues to record music even now. He also wrote the film The Proposition.
For me, it was a double-feature of Shock Waves and The Lift some twenty-(very-)odd years ago. Although Star Crash was seminal for most of us. How could it not be?

Lio purchased the supplies to make this for everyone in the caravan.
on that note, Kyrademon, is that one unit of stores? or how does the price get figured out? in any case, Lio pays for the food.

LOOT DISTRIBUTION
Cloak of elvenkind, +5 competence bonus to stealth (1250 gp) <-- Goes to Liothonae
Goggles of Minute seeing, +5 competence bonus to disable device (1250 gp) <-- Goes to Myriana
8 matching bracelets (1600 gp) <-- Goes to Melinda
Money will at this point not be distributed until the final loot claim of the module, at which time it will be given out on a weighted basis in order to even things up before shopping theoretically happens.

As the person with the lowest claimed loot total, I can't tell you how against this I am.

Kyrademon |

To clarify something:
ANY nonmagical item that costs 6,400 gp or less is automatically considered available.
This does not imply that nonmagical items costing more than 6,400 gp are not available; in fact, they very likely are. The upper limit on nonmagical items appears to be 37,500 gp.

Kyrademon |

If money is given out on a weighted basis depending on how much loot we've claimed, does that mean the claims will reset so everyone is on an even footing again when it comes to who disputed claims go to?
That is what I'm going for. The idea is to have all loot claims on an even footing at the start of the next module, by giving those who have claimed less on the road more money to purchase stuff in Ordu-Aganhei to make up for that.

OK. I've hinted about this to a number of people, but enough people have asked me about it that I'm simply going to say this to everyone flat out.
In D&D, at your level, the upper purchase limit for items in a city is not a hard and fast limit. Buying an item above that limit is not an impossibility so much as a minor inconvenience. There are a ton of ways around it which are available in any moderately sized city. By waiting a few extra days or paying what will almost certainly amount to a minor surcharge, you can pretty much buy anything you can afford.
So, if you want something above the 6,400 gp limit, just tell me, and I will inform you of the minor inconvenience in purchasing that will entail.

Hi, all. Decided to do something slightly unusual on this combat action, and decided to simply make it public --
In a nutshell, I was really hoping to get the fourth round combat posting up before I went to bed, but not everyone had posted (which is no problem, it was well before deadline.) I was simply going to shrug and move on, but then I realized that the last person left to post was also the last person to go in the round.
Given that relatively unique situation, I decided it would be OK to post the fourth round combat up until that person, and then simply let him post the last action of round four along with his round five action, and resolve the round 4 one before anything else, since it would have the same net effect.
This is not something I plan to do often, but this is clearly not going to be one of the shorter combats, so I decided to err on the side of moving things along, since I could do so in this case without puppeting a character or having anyone lose an action.
So, Hrunndalf, assuming you have not posted an action by the time I'm done posting round 4, there will be a special Hrunndalf round 4 combat resolution just for you before we start round 5. :)

Your call, of course, but I just wanted to let you know in case it was extra work you didn't want to do.

So, projecting forward, this module will end, 10th level will be reached, and ideally a new module thread will start by the end of the night (my time.)
I'll keep the existing thread going for a while after the new thread opens in order to wrap up whatever existing flextime scenes that are going on in it, allow for comments or actions on the very last IC day of the module, etc.; but I'd prefer to start the new thread "fresh" with no flextime scenes on dates prior to that of the opening post of the thread.

Kyrademon |

Welcome to 10th level (generally acknowledged as the start of the "ass-kicking" levels for D&D characters.)
Increase your hit points by 1/2 die (plus any constitution or potential favored class bonus).
Increase your Relationship score with ONE significant NPC by +1. Let me know if you have reached 31 with any NPC.

liothonae cromvathar |

(Do people mind posting in two threads until the last Hungry Storm flextime is wrapped up, or would you prefer to import the old flextime scenes over? Thought I should probably check in on that ...)
I would prefer to continue the few scenes i'm still in. as i don't usually get to post as often as some of the people on here (unless it's a weekend) my scenes tend to take a little longer to resolve.

All current flextime scenes will continue. The question is whether they will stay on the old thread or be moved to the new thread. My preference is to keep them on the old thread, but I thought I'd ask in case anyone in a flextime scene doesn't like having to check two threads.

The NPCs also gain levels at this point. It can be assumed from this point forward that all NPCs in the Caravan have now learned, at the very least, both Tien and Halfling.
Jorun, incidentally, is now a first level druid, and can now also serve as a spellcaster, fortune teller, or scout. (Lio, I will have that come up IC.)
In addition, from this point onward, whenever non-Caravan NPCs are generically speaking to you (e.g., conveying information without actual IC sentences, such as the guards at the gate of Ordu-Aganhei), it can be assumed that they are speaking Tien unless otherwise stated.
