So.
Assuming-you-survive, there's a thing coming up in this module where the characters are supposed to receive an Extremely Appropriate magic item or items worth no more than a certain amount I'm not going to specify.
I would like your help making sure these are not items you will get and find Lame, but rather stuff your character would Like.
Please give me an indication of what your character might like. Please remember that it is supposed to be Extremely, Even Eerily Appropriate, so I am going to highly disfavor anything that seems generic to me (which would include all ability score enhancers, and rings of protection, amulets of natural armor, or cloaks of resistance, for example).
You can suggest anything from a vague concept ("something to help me move fast and stuff") to a general type ("some kind of magic medium armor") to a (SHORT! MAX 4-5 ITEMS LISTED!) laundry list of specific magic items on your character's wishlist.
(If you go specific on weapons or armor, rather than say "a +1 bow if that's the maximum price, or a +1 human bane bow if that's the maximum price, or a +1 shock human bane bow if ... etc.", just give me the enchantments you're interested in, in some order of preference, and I'll figure it out.)
Bear in mind that I am not guaranteeing you will get exactly what you ask for, or even anything remotely resembling what you ask for.
Thanks!

As for the wishlist itself:
- Boring-but-cheap item: Something to remove the need for sleep so the boy can Craft every blessed day and still hold down a real Job. Only thing fitting this in the standard equipment list that I've seen so far is a Ring of Sustenance, which drops sleep needs down to 2 hours so he can pull two all-day tasks and still crank out a cheap potion.
(And between a ring like this and his own endure elements extracts, Hrithik would be sufficiently self-sustaining that he could just walk to Minkai himself, if it came to that.)
- As a less-useful alternate, something that eliminates Hrithik's drain on the Caravan stores so he can at least Craft as a passenger without feeling like a total leech.
If items from the Campaign Setting book are allowable, I've thought about this working with a wayfinder, styled up in the Old Cheliax look, with the exterior case showing the big gold symbol (and possible enwreathment), with the interior basin showing a map of golden land on black oceans depicting the Empire's greatest Avistan extent (including such territories as Brinewall, Korvosa, and territory in northern Garund, but not disparate possessions like Arcadia and Sargava). Lakes and rivers revert to the black background, but cities and roads are inlaid onto the gold with fine filaments of black adamantium (trace grams, not enough to extract for anything). At first, the wayfinder wouldn't appear to have a slot for an ioun stoun, until it became clear that the "due Cynosure" marker is actually a clear spindle ioun stone ... hopefully the cost boost from the ioun stone would be mitigated somewhat by the fact that it absolutely cannot ever be removed or swapped out of this specific wayfinder for another stone.
(If you wanted to make this item *perfect*, the not-removable ioun stone would be some super-duper clear spindle stone that also eliminated or vastly reduced the need for sleep ... a wayfinder of preparedness or such.)
- In the appropriate-but-freaky category, also assuming you are willing to ad-hoc a non-standard piece of eq if you are the one giving it, would be to do a variation on a cauldron of brewing, to make it less inappropriately "cauldron-like" and a more appropriate piece of titration-glassware or a steampunk reaction vessel. The real reason for GM intervention, however, would be to make the bonus something other than a competence bonus. The Alchemy class ability of the Alchemist class already gives an escalating competence bonus that will rapidly outstrip this item and fail to stack.
- Getting wacky: The Ultimate Combat book throws out the idea of "alchemical engines" to power vehicles, but completely fails to give costs for individual engines (as opposed to entire vehicles). I'd estimate a single engine sufficient to propel an armored wagon at about 5-6000gp value, probably requiring both 5+ ranks in Craft (Alchemy) as well as Create Wondrous Item to make from scratch ... but if one could be found, it could be adapted to a newly-purchased armored wagon with special drivetrain to create a truly horseless carriage (reducing Consumption but requiring daily alchemical-GP/Craft investment for biodiesel or whatever). Such a vehicle would also require Hrithik as Driver, according to Ultimate Combat's rules about swapping other Driver skills with Craft (Alchemy) for the purposes of craft powered by alchemical engines.
(Personally, I feel something *this* zany is more likely appropriate to several levels down the line, and best if made as a deliberate investment into the Caravan, but wishlist you want = wishlist you get!)

Rhost Mab-i-gof |

Here are my thoughts.
Rhost likes to cook, and while something assisting that would be appropriate and welcome, I'm trying to be aware of the line between Major Character Trait and Schtick.
Rhost likes to swing a hammer, and while there has been a lot more cooking than smithing during the caravan trek (for what I think are obvious reasons), a hammer to aid in smithing would be just as welcome as a hammer to aid in Killing Things Dead.
I could go on, but I suspect it is not necessary.

I see some good special abilities in the armor section, such as Jousting or Champion. He'd try to keep to armors that allow +3 or +4 Dex modifiers.
I'm sure there are some good weapons out there that fit this bill. A Shieldsplitter Lance for example.
In the Extremely, Even Eerily Appropriate pile, I see some magic items for mounts (mostly horses). If there were a variant Horseshoes of a Zephyr, made for wolves, that would indeed be eerie.

in an effort to not be a creepy cyber stalker (which by the way i am horrible at... i'm not even creepy when i try, and i'm the worst stalker ever... having no google fu) the player of Mel has suggested I post on the forum and ask if you guys (who have facebook pages) want to do the unthinkable and be facebook acquaintances. so, if no... just don't answer. i have a weak constitution and can't deal with rejection. i'm much too fragile for that sort of thing. ;) but if yes, hurray?! or is it doom!?

Melinda Sorn |

Weak constitution and fragile... yeah.
I can't think of something to add that doesn't make me sound stranger than I actually am. Seriously five sentences started and deleted. Of course... being the dolt that I am... I already sent friend requests to the people I could find.

totally spun glass. ;)

Isn't that what Facebook is for? Relentlessly stalking casual acquaintances?
so it's not about finding out about fun events that you might not otherwise hear about, and keeping up with old classmates, friends and family? darn. i've had it wrong all this time.

liothonae cromvathar |

If Lio had a choice, she would probably want something survivaly for Shalelu. But since that's likely not an option, this lists what I would like to see for Lio ;)
i think i would love for Lio to be super duper sneaky. i don't know if there's anything out there that would accomplish that. and it would be even cooler if she'd be even sneakier in a city.
it would also be cool, if whatever awesome magic item of doom it was, was a silver, or platinum pendant (to be hung on a necklace) in the shape of an apple. because for some reason there's an apple thing going on with Lio. (and something silver colored will look good with her silver hair and pale skin)
If sneakyness is not really an option, I think something to make Lio a better rune caster, or a better urban druid would rock too. i'm not really sure what kind of magic item would accomplish this. maybe something with a cool rune spell on it to be used at will, or maybe something that would let Lio talk to animals without needing to cast the spell using her own points...
those are the things that pop into my head. but i'm open to pretty much anything. :)

Alaric Graff wrote:Isn't that what Facebook is for? Relentlessly stalking casual acquaintances?Pshaw. Facebook doesn't require any skill or finesse.
And this is why I deleted 5 comments...
if i need someone stalked, or a game rule recited on the spot, or someone to watch awesomely bad movies with... i call you.
if you need a cake baked, or something sown, or a fun night on the town, you call me.
<3

I'm all for being cyber-stalked by Lio. :)
awww, that's sort of sweet. i think.

Kalimac Proudfoot |

Mel is using her cyber fu, and proclaims the most likely candidate for your real life identity is Doug Hester. i have no such fu, and merely smile and nod as she messages me. not that she can see me smiling and nodding. in any case, here is my facebook link thingie: http://facebook.com/jessica.s.rose
And Mel proclaims wrongly. I can, however, throw things at Doug over the cubicle wall. So she's not too far off.
I actually figured you out with my own cyber-fu, and sent you a friend request. It'll be the one from Jeff Schwarz.

A note about the magic items --
While I am trying to make these Appropriate, Hopefully Eerily So, I am EXTREMELY unlikely to make them custom not-in-the-book jobs except possibly for minor things that have no effects whatsoever on mechanics. So if all of your requests were for specially designed custom stuff, you probably are not going to get exactly what you want.

Tollin Elere |

to Mel, yes but I have no money and a friend form work is coming over to do a CPR refresher course.
+1 double barreled pistol
+1 double barreled pistol of distance
+1 double barreled pistol of distance and seeking
+1 double barreled pistol of flaming distance
I'm only interested in the distance enhancement if it would increase the actual range increments. Basically it would let me do ranged touch attacks at 40' instead of 20'.

So I'm watching "The Universe, Alien Planets," And who do I see? YEs that's correct, Our noble GM's better half!!!!! Very cool, just saying.
Was that the one where she was visually demonstrating extrasolar wobble by spinning lit fire sticks, one end close to her wrist and the other far out? If so, I was very impressed with the entire production. Her contribution rocked, of course.

Note -- due to a misreading of the rules by the GM, Alaric's nonmagical healing of Myriana should have taken longer than was implied by the current text. Just in case it comes up again, thought you all should know; it turns out that standard action first aid heal checks in Pathfinder can't heal damage anymore, but spending a chunk of time with a patient can do a bit more than it used to.

That messed me up with Hrithik on his debut. Meant the unguents and creams on Kalimac and Rhost to be alchemical-flavor for Heal skill use, but with the Heal rule-shift to Not Do That Anymore, it came across as magic to those more familiar with the current ruleset.
Item appears to be: completely boring, if highly impressive, non-magical masterwork tome of Chelish history. Encyclopedia-sized book, thick black leather covers, simply entitled Cheliax in the lower center, but with a gold-metal partial frame on the front cover and a top-center gold symbol of Cheliax That Was, bold as anything, on it like the Auryn symbol was on the storybook being read in the movie Neverending Story.
The book is weatherproofed, bound, and locked (a gold key with a Cheliax-symbol head on a gold chain is draped over it).
Inside, it is an engrossing history of Cheliax, with incredibly thin yet unexpectedly resilient pages, and astonishingly dense print due to either magic or an exquisite printing press. The inks seem infused into the paper, and do not stain or run. The voluminous illustrations of every major historical figure are remarkable portraiture, and likewise infused into the paper. The full-color maps of every locale, and the artful depiction of the Empire's extent at different time periods, are flawless. As an object of craft and art alone, the book is easily worth several hundred gps.
The author is one Dessa Leroung, and she finished writing and setting it about one month before the Death of Aroden. The book ends optimistically, expecting the wondrous Age of Glory to start any minute now, and the entire book unfolds the long history of the region as it fared under the Taldan and Chelish empires as if upward progress and glory is preordained and natural. Given what actually happened, it is completely understandable why this book never saw wider printing. For all that, the book is quite possibly the perfect reference tome to reference pre-4606 Chelish history. Cheliax allows the reader to Take-10 on such a history check with half an hour of focused perusal, and allows the reader to Take-20 on such a check if spending an entire day.
The secret to what makes this book so special, however, isn't its value as art and compiled mundane lore. It is in the illustrations. Dessa Leroung was clearly an alchemist, or working on behalf of one, because each of the artworks depicting major historical figures and the endless maps upon maps contribute symbolic portions to different alchemical formulae.
The book is also a preconstructed formulary, specifically the Chymist's Guidebook. The symbolic significance of the details of the various illustrations is enough for a trained person in the Alchemist class to understand the formulae involved, which are exactly as that entry lists.
And the creepy, eerie part? The flavortext of that entry: The pages of this formula book are carefully varnished. Sprinkled among the formulae are details and diagrams of alchemical devices, many of which seem to defy the normal conventions of alchemy and physics. The last page contains incomplete notes on the preparation of experimental mutagens.
Leads and hints about alchemical engines and cognogens? :-)

They are making a prequel to Alien. I'm not sure how this should make me feel since I own all of the movies.
I'm hoping for the best. Assuming Ridley Scott is still directing, it should be good.
I own the first two. Three angered me, and four? No. Just no. I'd like to have a good one to replace the repressed memories.
