So a topic that's come up a few times - both publicly and privately in discussions between me and Andreas is the possibility of releasing a copy of Psionics Unleashed in hard cover.
I'm here to see if there's interest in it, given that a soft cover version has already been available for over six months, and given that folks can't simply upgrade their soft cover to a hard cover, but would instead have two copies of the book (or would simply not buy the hard cover).
If we did this, it wouldn't just be Psionics Unleashed as released. I would want to add a bunch more artwork, incorporate all errata, maybe get some character sheets done, etc.
Cost-wise, we'd be looking at $30-40 price, and that would still be with B&W interior pages, and it likely would only be available at the Dreamscarred Press site (hard cover in the quantity we'd run are expensive).
So you tell me, is there any interest in such a thing?

I'd have to say it's *unlikely* we'd get a second copy, though if it was updated with all the errata I'd be tempted.
Still, I think it's a good idea.
What I've been wondering about is if you could make or authorize 'power cards' similar to the spell card products out there.
Those I'd get.
Of course, if you already do, please point me in the right direction.

Yes!
[starts putting money aside]
As for the original question, I prefer hardcovers to soft, so if the option is there at first purchase, I'd go for the hardcover. As to replacing our current soft cover, hmmm, well...purchase HC version, gift current soft to other GM in group...that would work.
See, I *can* talk myself into a duplicate purchase.

I would have to say yes. I would buy a hard cover,
I already have on my book shelf the
2nd edition Psionics handbook
The Ravenloft Module Thoughts of Darkness
The Dark sun suppliment "the will and the way"
the Illithiad,
A darkness Gathering,
Masters of Eternal night,
Dawn of the Overmind,
the 3rd edition Psionics Handbook,
The Psionics toolkit,
"of sound mind "
"If Thoughts could Kill"
"Mindscapes"
3.5 Expanded Psionics handbook
The Complete Psionic
Hyperconsciouness
Untapped Potential
Psioncis Unleashed x2
So yes I would happily shell out for a hard cover for Psionics Unleashed.
By the way, have I missed any printed psionics materiel put out by Dream Scarred press?

We have a few of our 3.5 books available in print (although if I had my druthers, we'd repackage them all, but c'est la vie). So far, only Psionics Unleashed has been released in print for Pathfinder.
3.5 in print, we have: Untapped Potential, Mind Divine, Mind Unveiled, High Psionics Compilation, Third Dawn Campaign Setting, and Complete Society Mind.
If you're looking to get any of those in print, send me an email (jeremy.smith AT dreamscarredpress.com) and I'll see what I still have in storage.

I would be interested in a hardcover release of this. Somehow I missed that it wasn't already hardcover. I already have the PDF, but have been holding off on the print version until a second printing (for the errata). I would love to be able to put a hardcover version of this right next to my PFRPG Core Rulebook.

The second printing is already out incorporating errata. :)

Cool. Hadn't heard it was out. Thanks.
...Of course, now, I have to wait for the hardcover. (Can't afford both. 8^)

That idea had not escaped us ;)
One big hardcover vs two smaller hardcovers... there are some benefits to putting both in one book.
Sweet :)
Put em both in one book and call it Ultimate Psionics ;)

Mmmmm. Dunno.
If we were talking about a serious re-work of the interior art to bring the book up to the general ballpark of a Paizo release, I'd unhesitatingly commit to a $50 hardcover with zero new crunch. If we're talking about the existing art style and artists, I'm afraid no.
I want to be abundantly clear here. PU is a great book which I am proud to own both in PDF and softcover. The contents are top-notch and 100% allowed at my game tables. I am also a pre-order customer for PExp.
That said, PU isn't an attractive book. It's a reference book. It's like the dictionary or an encyclopedia. I look at it purely for text, and that's that. Paizo's books on the other hand are works of art. I don't want to close them when I'm done looking something up We leave them laying around and people just browse because every five or so pages there's something really darned neat to look at.
So I'm trying really hard to not hurt anyone's feelings yet say what I think. Professional-grade art I'd pay for, including in a re-print.
Speaking of which, if flinging another $20 somewhere at Dreamscarred would get that done for PExp, tell me where to fling and how.

Personally, I think the art that has been put thus far into Psionics Expanded has been top notch. If you're of a different opinion, feel free to let me know - either here or privately if you'd prefer - although I really do need specific details as to why you feel that way, as otherwise, I have to take it as a difference of opinion. Most of it thus far has been done by Rick Hershey, who is a professional artist, and he's on track to do some more work for us once we figure out just what we need illustrations of.
That being said, for a project like this (hardcover PsiUn or hardcover PsiUn + PsiEx), nothing is off the table, including additional content, additional artwork, revised artwork, etc. Additional content is a little tricky, as much of what we didn't include in Psionics Unleashed is what we're including in Psionics Expanded ;)

I would absolutely buy another copy to have it in hardback with updated errata, etc. I'll go ahead and add a "+1" for prettying up a hardbound version but leave the layout, etc the same so I can leave the softbound on the table for the players. That way there's no confusion as to what's where between the two.
I've already got the money budgeted for Expanded when I get money in September so it wouldn't be a stretch to get a hardback copy of Unleashed while I'm at it. I would splurge and pick up a hard copy of each if they were available.
I would pay serious money for a single hardbound book that had the contents of both books. I'd buy that even if I had the other two. Maybe a special edition like the huge Tome of Horrors that Frog God(?) is doing. I'd pay upwards of $100 for that! It might be a good idea to wait a couple of years so you can include any necessary bug fixes and errata into one mammoth tome of psionic goodness.
I love you work and support of psionics and will continue to give you money for top-notch, quality products.

OT: Is the second printing with errata identified as such?
(And is there any confirmation on whether or not Paizo or Amazon has those second printings?)
All books shipped since roughly May have been the edition with errata incorporated. There was no "second printing" stamp put on, though, no.

Hrmm...
OK, then, is there a quick way to tell? A specific re-word on a specific page?

I had a huge post about my two cents, but the computer ate it. So instead, here's my bullet points:
*Rick is a fine artist, but runs polar opposite to my imagining of the mood and theme of Pathfinder. I would love to see him do art for a Third Dawn comic book...
*Art will not deter me from buying a $50 book containing PU and PE
*I'd pay $10 more for color interior art and a cover by someone in the style of Wayne Reynolds

Jeremy, do you guys plan on having a "magus" like psion class?
If you aren't planning one, DO IT. Have an archtype that mimics the black blade thats a mind blade kk thanks :)Dunno what you could call it though...
Please post this in the Psionics Expanded thread here.
I'd love to discuss your idea a bit more, but this isn't really the thread for it. :)
We're still figuring out all the archetypes we want for Psionics Expanded, which is why I don't want your idea to get lost in the shuffle.
