Arthurian Patfinder

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

hi excaliburfinders,

I've started thinking about King Arthur and Pathfinder and am wondering how well that story and the game mesh together. I've found a supplement called "Legends of Excalibur" from 2004, but it's a dnd 3.0 book! Eeeks! It sounds cool but I haven't used anything from that far back, its like 3 years old!

Anyone out there started using the Arthur world for the Pathfinder campaign?

I don't know what to do,

What would probably work best for an Arthurian feel would be an E6 campaign. This keeps even the legendary warriors, like Arthur and Lancelot, within the expected realm of humanity where the stories are mostly contained.

I am not familiar with the Legends of Excalibur supplement, however.

I have the book and it's pretty decent. Pendragon (not d20, obviously) is better thematically and is great resource for any Arthurian rules. Both make some serious errors in chronology, but...

Re: E6. Arthurian fantasy is not realistic. Arthur kills hundreds in battle on his own. Lancelot and Tristram are both described as cutting fully armored knights and their horses in half. Merlin teleports an entire army.

There was an Arthurian section in 2e's Legends and Lore.

Sounds like a good campaign to use the Kingmaker kingdom building rules.
