STARFINDER

please, please, please no magic or elves in space

But if you can get anywhere else (other continents, planes, other planets) why not be able to travel space using magic?

Liberty's Edge

I held out for a long time after Dreamscarred Press came out with its Psionics Unleashed, thinking that Paizo would eventually produce its own version of psionics. Guess not.

Now I'm holding out after Game Room Creations recently came out with its d20 Modern revision, hoping that Paizo will eventually produce its own version of d20 Modern. ... At least I'm not holding my breath.

How about Jews in Space?

More seriously, Dragonstar - with Elves, Magic and Science Fiction was awesome!

I think the Ori, from Stargate, stole their ship designs from those. LOL

Just to pitch in due to further mention upstream as it were, but not only was DragonStar made of Win™, but the death, as it were, of the line was less due to Product Identity issues with Mind Flayers, and more due to FFG selling the license to Mystic Eye Games, who proceeded to put out next to nothing with it. I couldn't recall the name of the current owner, but the one thing I remember they did was Raw Recruits, which was not a bad adventure truth be told. Searching found it, and gave me a lead on whom I need to track down to possibly see about a license acquisition, because I have the deluded notion of taking the PbP campaign I did long ago and, given the money and ego, would make it the cannon follow-up to the canon setting.

Cliff Notes Version: Mezzenbone yields the Empire, seemingly retiring to parts unknown, only to direct an attack on the throneworld during the coronation of the Blue Empress. The attack fails, but Mezzenbone plays it off as a test of her 'worthiness' that she passed. The Blues are pissed, the Reds are equally pissed (and only semi-secretly pleased that Mezzenbone did what he did, but not enough to support him), Mezzenbone is now Public Enemy #1, the Chromatics are lining up and taking sides support their faction of choice, the Metallics are trying to broker peace while covertly taking advantage of the opportunity to undo many Chromatic workings and plans and schemes, and the Chaos from the Dark Zone is more dire than any might have anticipated...with new threats and allies about to emerge to complicate things further.

I'll spare the Tolstoy version.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I'm an old spelljammer fan who loved pretty much the whole enchilada. I am definitely interested in the Clockwork Gnome book when it comes out. I'll wait for the Print on Demand version but it is definitely on my want list.

Why not? It'd make for something a lot more original and potentially interesting than either the usual pseudo-medieval fantasy or garden-variety space opera.

And I am incredibly glad that I was able to score a Dragonstar Starfarer's Handbook when I did. It meant patronizing the Hostile Local Game Store, true...but I have that book.

But, but, what about the Abh?

Must ... read ... faster ...

By all that is holy, let any space book please be weeeeeeeeird. I want my pathfinder scifi genre-bashing mashup! I want symbiotes, and aliens with completely different technologies. I want a variety of space ships, spanning various levels of tech. I want magic and science to be at odds in places, but in others be allied in strange ways. I most certainly want the deep reaches of space to be the home of dark and maddening things that only the cold void of space could bear. I want it to test what it means to be mortal, mentally, physically, and emotionally.

that is all.

+1 for a SciFi RPG based on the Pathfinder mechanic.

Avalon Games Company has some SF material out and more in the pipe-line, mostly 'science-fantasy' but also some straight sci-fi; in their Infinite Futures line.

For contemporary games, there's The Modern Path from Game Room Creations - just rules so far but they are starting to look at setting materials.

Are there any modules or adventure paths for Infinite Futures?
