Struggling with Alchemist Build

Hi, I am trying to create a human alchemist for a Carrion Crown campaign. I know that I'm going after a 'Jekyll and Hyde' analogue, so he'll be focused on mutagen-enhanced melee more than bombs, but after that I'm kind of stuck.

Does anyone have any advice as far as good feats, traits, equipment, stats, extracts, etc? I'm sure this has been discussed before, so if there are any other threads to point me to, that would be great too.

If you are not terribly interested in the bombs, you can take the vivisectionist archetype. It replaces the bombs class feature with sneak attack at a rogues progression.

Also you may wish to take a few lvls of the master chymist prestige class as it lets you more easily access your mutagen bonuses.

Also I think ogre made a guide to the alchemist, so that will have some useful information as well.

oh and you will want poison because poison rocks.

Also you may want the accelerated drinker trait so that you can drink 2 potions in a round if you are holding them in your hand at the start of the round.

I posted some comments about Alchemist in Ultimate Combat but they are quite general.

Honestly though I am struggling with this vivisectionist. The straight alchemist with a good strength and feral mutagen is pretty dang awesome and the bombs give him a ton of versatility that the vivisectionist lacks.

For someone new to the class (and for Carrion Crown) I'd suggest you just go straight alchemist with an emphasis on strength. Take feral mutagen at second level and power attack at third level then use the strength mutagen with power attack. Then you can load up on holy water and use your bombs for ranged attacks, area effect, and fire damage when you need it. Past 3rd level you can take feats/ discoveries to strength either your bombing or your melee depending on the party and your play style.
