Sounds good FallofCamelot. Great consider yourselves part of the "Thirty".

BTW the name comes from one of my players being nicknamed Judas before you ask.

Pleasure doing business with you. See you Saturday morning, you can meet my cronies then.

Cheers

]I've put you in The Dalsine Affair and The Midnight Mauler on the Saturday. (You don't have Throaty Mermaid reported as a game you've played and your booking form said your highest level character was 5th so you're not eligible to play in any 7-11 scenarios.)

Grand Melee is a one-off special event run on the Saturday evening. You enter a team of up to 6 players. There is a chronicle sheet for it. No you cannot play it twice or use the same character twice! (You know that you can never get credit more than once for playing don't you?)

I played Throaty on Feb 25th 2011, in an event called SirGuido's Game which shows against character 6976-5, Francesca, on my list of sessions played. I'm not sure why you can't see it. I know I can't replay mods, which is why I'm flagging it up.

I play in two local groups, online, and at conventions, which means I sent that form in a long time ago in game terms! I also use GM credit a lot, so she's now 7th level. I emailed Rob as soon as it happened, so he has the details. I've retired 1st, 4th, 6th and 10th level characters because I got bored of them (or they died - I don't like resurrecting characters), which is where the rest of my player credit went.

Godsmouth and MotFF are both specials and can be played more than once, so I wasn't sure if the grand melee worked in the same way. I'm happy with Dalsine and Mauler and would like to play the melee if the opportunity arises, but having another game as backup would be useful in case the melee is oversubscribed.

Thanks.

I've got my paperwork to hand now; it was event 5088 if it helps track it down.

Yep, got it now.

Godsmouth and MotFF can be played again and again but it has to always be with a different character. They are modules, not special events like the Year of the Shadow Lodge, Grand Melee etc. Very different beasts. And as the Grand Melee is only being run at US PaizoCon, UK PaizoCon and GenCon then no opportunity to replay them.

There's no real fear for the Grand Melee being oversubscribed. We will have enough tables and GMs to allow everybody attending to play in it if necessary.
If you're happy with Midnight Mauler and Dalsine Affair then we are sorted. :)
See you there!

Richard - do you have a fifth PC written for us? The only reason I mention is that there are several extra goblin PCs on the paizo threads and we could just pick one of them if you prefer?

Cheers

Whoops; I wasn't watching this thread.

I'd like to try out the alchemist if possible, as it's a class I've only seen used once (and that time, I added it to a dragon, heh, heh).
But if they've already been allocated, that's fine.

I've just printed them off. You get Mogmurch the alchemist1 and for this adventure I reckon he will have lots of fun.

Should mention that I have also found four more on the boards. They are;

5) female sorcerer
6) ranger
7) barbarian
8) witch

Silver Crusade 3/5

An alchemist dragon? Me likey.

Going to have to steal that one...

Sunday, everybody is playing Shadow's Last Stand parts 1 and 2.
You are down for Murder on the Throaty Mermaid and The Midnight Mauler on Saturday.

Actually as your character is 7th level how about playing Mantis' Prey instead of Midnight Mauler?

As it's you Nick.

You'll need Szallus for Saturday. (Well don't know who you want in the Grand Melee so bring all characters!)
Szallus will be playing Mantis' prey and Shadows Fall on Absalom.
For the Sunday, I'm thinking 3rd-5th might be appropriate!

Closest I can do to that is 6th, but otherwise sounds good.

Is everyone booked for this?

If there is demand for a 'normal' game going on at the same time, I don't mind doing that, and letting someone else take my Grand Melee slot. None of the PCs I make are overly proficient in melee (or psychologically disposed to it).

The Grand Melee is totally optional.

It's only a 3 hour slot so not time for a normal game (though last years was only around 3 hours of gameplay but finished after 1am).

Generally I would rather GM a combat focussed scenario than play in it but a "suicide run" character might be fun for a one-off, and I suspect many might go down this route.

BTW what scenarios am I down for on the Saturday?

You Only Die Twice and Mantis' Prey.

Three PFS legal characters finally created and registered. Made a note of where everything came from in the books. Fingers crossed that the missus is at the same/nearby table to save hurling of the core rule book. Route plotted to the balti.

There's some emergency shuffling going on that is proving a challenge so don't take that as written in stone :)

Dave,
If people want to pass on the Grand Melee, I can bring down a couple of board/card games to fill time with. Probably only bring down four or five.

I know some people don't want to be playing for all 3 slots so I'm trying to make it clear that the Grand Melee is completely optional. (And the bar will be open!) A few games on offer will be very much appreciated!

Paul and my gang were the only ones who didn't participate in the Shadow Special last year, it may be optional but everyone are gluttons for PFS punishment. If you offer it - they will come.

Paul, one of my guys isn't taking part in the Grand Melee now so he may be interested in a game before an early night. I'll mention it to him on the way up.

Cheers

I'm one of those in danger of need needing sleep on Saturday night - is that 'completely optional' as in 'can decide on the night'?

Dear PaizoCon UK attendees,
Posting as a journalist of CE inclinations (and I would like to commend here some UK journalists who have made some rather pathetic attempts to live up to Abyssal standards in recent years - still, it's the thought which counts) it would of course be utterly irresponsible and shamelessly chaotic of me NOT to post a reminder to check the PaizoCon UK website for any mentions of last minute plagues of locusts, volcanic eruptions, details of bloody stupid idiots who think it's funny to say 'Hastur' three times in a row...
So, like on that other thread, I [again] won't post a reminder like that.

Yours,

Ask A Succubus Journalist.

Right, I've got games, accomodation and travel sorted, but I forgot the most important thing: food...

I get breakfast included on Sunday, but what are the options for other meals?

Are we allowed to bring and consume our own food/drinks at the table?
Do they have a food hall or equivalent?
Are there local eateries or shops within quick walking distance?
Is it advisable to stop at a supermarket en route and load up with calories? DIET WARNING!

Not too sure on the food/drink at tables this year, but I know in previous years sweets and bottled water/etc have been acceptable a tables to keep voices going. The business school has a bar which should be serving food, and there are a couple of pubs (The Gosta Green and Sack of Potatoes), a fish & chips/pizza outlet, an off-licence and a newsagent all in the vicinity. Hopefully we should have a map and further information on this topic displayed somewhere at the convention.

Stormfriend wrote:

From my experience last year:

- The Gosta Green pub was the fastest and best value for money for a proper meal. Menu is online.
- The local takeaways were only open on the Saturday and not sparkling.
- The business school cafe was very slow even for an open sandwich and fries (had some folks wait an hour).

Though of course if we all descend on a pub for a meal it will be snowed and slow anyway.

Thank you all for making it a thoroughly enjoyable weekend.
Thank you to everybody who ran a game; thank you to our guests Richard Pett, Diego and Auke; huge thanks to Charles Evans, Rob Silk and Pete Pollard for your behind the scenes help and everything you did at the weekend too and thanks to Paizo for allowing us to do this and run the Grand Melee!

In all the excitement I clean forgot to ask:
Anybody interested in me running this again next year?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The Best One so Far!

My mates and I all agreed that this one was on the money. Well done Dave and your crew for all your effort and support.

Firstly the GMs, Richard "the Goblin Chief" Pett, Rob "the Grand" Silk and Crispy "the Blast" Wooldridge all showed their chops.

Secondly the scenarios had a high standard. Dalsine Affair and the latitude given in the last combat meant I scared without killing any. We be Goblins is a great piece of fun to play, I'd recommend it to anyone. The Grand Melee was my favourite adventure, the VCs that created it should already be writing one for next year. Shadows Last Stand Part 2 should have been an eight hour adventure, the opportunities for roleplaying with Crispy's cast of characters.

Thirdly the atmosphere, noise levels, organisation and timings generally worked, especially finishing by 12pm on Saturday evening.

Lastly the Premier Inn was good, £29 for a double room a night and then all you can eat for breakfast £8 set us up for the day.

Good stuff chaps.

As someone not killed by Frenchie's villain in The Dalsine Affair, I'm very grateful to both him and Dave for a great scenario (although in retrospect, I think I used up all my luck prior to the Grand Melee).

Good event chaps. I might even be persuaded to run something in future...

Another great year. Apologies again to the PC I killed. I've never done that before, and the look of abject horror on said player's face is something I'll never forget, and shudder every time I remember!

Agreed..the weekend was a blast..managed to level both my characters and the plot for Shadows Last Stand was outstanding even at tier 1-2.

Grand Lodge 5/5 ****

I just wanted to add my thanks to everyone as well.

Starting with Dave. You can be really proud about the convention and the community you have created. Sorry for hassling you about missing sheets. Once home I found a spare ink cartridge that I thought I had ...

Thanks to all the players on my tables. You are the reason I come back and GM.

Thanks to all the other GMs even if I didn't take too much of a note of them during the CON.

Thanks also to everyone missing Kerstin and sending greetings to her.

I really enjoyed it and so did the three new people I had introduced to gaming and who have been around for the very first time.

And with the extra games I'm now closing in on my third star. I still remember to get my first just last year at PaizoCon.

I will be back next year !!!
