Was bored... so I thought I'd try and figure out how many posts my DM'd games have created over time:
Osirion Expedition: 1,759
Envoy of Geb: 2,552
Black Monastery / IK RPG: 306 + 163 = 469
Square Sails: 801
Unbinding the Fetters: 1,692
Sub-Total: 7,273
Hibernating:
Hunger in the Darkness: 2,477+ (to become Throne of Darkness when that releases)
Current Games:
Devil Spawn: 2,028+
Slaugh Sidhe: 887+
Taighean Dubha: 1,183+
Steel Wolves: 3,329 + 930 = 4,259+
WotW: 1,527+
Gates of Hell: 171+
Sub-Total: 10,055
Grand Total of 19,805 - cool... the only slightly scary thing about that number? - it's only 600 more than the number of posts that I've personally made on Paizo...
Though I'm still not in Zyren's league by any means :P

Shifty - you checked out the Senate results yet? Apart from the facepalm over the brick with eyes... Victoria is interesting
At the moment, with 46.6% of votes counted... a guy that had 0.52% of the primary vote has ended up with the sixth pick - narrowly ahead of the Palmer and Sex party. Hoons and rev-heads unite!

I love the fact that not only do you have a Sex Party, you also have a Stop The Greens party, a Australian Fishing and Lifestyle Party, a Australian Motoring Enthusiast Party, a The Wikileaks Party and a Help End Marijuana Prohibition (HEMP) Party.
In the US we are stuck with 2 parties, the Old Geezers Who Don't Want Anything To Happen/Religious Fanatics Party, and a Change Everything And Ignore The Consequences Party.

Tirion - you still have some wacky parties:
Communist Party
Objectivist Party
Hell the Peace and Freedom Party put up Roseanne Barr as presidential candidate in 2012!
Just in Australia, the wee parties actually have half a chance of needling into the senate ;)

In the US we only have one third party elected official that I know of in any major position. Bernard Sanders, a Senator from Vermont. Although he generally sits with the Democrats.
As far as the other parties, we would be much better off if they could get some seats in the senate or house. Unfortunately our system is set up to keep those in power in power. Yup, the country that tossed out the monarch decided that an oligarchy would be more fun.

Not necessarily... balance of power sitting with a third group is good when it's a true balance (ala Aussie Democrats at their height). But now there will be a smattering of people with very narrow focuses that wield incredible legislative power.
The party in power will now need to pander to the desires of a few minor groups that very few people directly voted for.
Let the pork barreling commence!

Sorry, I have to rant a bit.
So - around 3am a young woman comes to the gas station, refueling her car, buying a few chocolate bars and asking for the key to the bathroom, which I hand her out.
Not two minutes later, a young man comes in, asks about her car and if the driver was male or female. I answer truthfully, since there could have been an incident, like perhaps he hit her car or she his so he wanted to talk to her and since I figured I would be around so I might be able to step in if there is something else going on. He asked where she was, I told him she was using the bathroom, he asked where that would be.
Now...while he wasn't rude or jerky, something about him ticked me off the wron way. Our bathroom is on the other side of the building and I somehow didn't want him to wait for her out there in the middle of the night, so I hesitated a moment and then asked him to just wait for her to return.
That was when he started threatening me, telling me he would hit me in the face if I didn't treat him politely. I managed to stay calm and told him I didn't intend to be impolite and that she probably would be back, soonn.
The woman came back, The two definatly knew each other and left together. He insulted me and threatened me again telling me he would hit me if I talked to him 'wrong' again. I admit I stopped being polite this time and told him I figured him to be a bit bonkers.
When they were outside, he started to hit her.
I immediatly called the police. Since it didn't look as if she was in immediate danger to suffer more than a bruised cheek or at worst a black eye, I didn't do more - since the whole scene seemed to be a textbook szene from an abusive relationship. There was a chance that the police (never really far away from the gas station) would be there while the 'fight' was still going on and I had a good view and could step in if he did anything worse than to slap her (now, this seems cruel, but If I was right about the relationship between them there was pretty much no chance for me to really help her, while the police, if they witnessed the violence themselfs could still arrest him).
Sadly, they both got into their respectice cars and drove off. I told the police hios license plate and they followed him.
A few minutes later, the police came back. The thanked me for calling them and told me that they could stop both their cars and they both denied anything happened. She continued to deny even when her 'ex-boyfriend' was no longer around. The officer told me he absolutely believed me, since the guy was known for his rash and violent behavior, but they couldn't do more unless the woman testified or they could witness the violence in progress. I could tell from his face he was as bitter about the whole thing as I was
Sorry, I had to vent this.

            Well that sucks.
Unfortunately some people won't be helped, and when you are stuck in the position of being having responsibility for the store its not like you can simply knock the guy and walk off into the darkness. Which is a shame.
That is not even the worst. I know social and psychological studies (frequently the most depressing part of my studies) show that if I wwould be right about the realtionship (and what the police said later pretty much confirmed that I was), stepping in and takings side against the abuser would strenghten the abuser-victim relation thus doing pretty much the oppsite of helping her.

In the States, when the the police are called to a domestic dispute someone is going to jail. This has had the opposite effect of what was intended and is at times used as a weapon by one party or the other. Once arrested for domestic violence a person loses the right to own a firearm and several other punitive actions are taken. This came about due to the exact situation you experienced, abuse victim calls for help then turns on the police when they arrive haul tough guy to jail. In the Army, it is a very serious matter as one can no longer serve the moment they are registered as an abuser.
But, I think you did precisely the right thing otherwise you might be cooling your heels in the pokey or worse the ER. Brutish behaviour is only intensified against those who might be seen as intervening in their need to dominate someone. Since abuse is linked to the abuser's need to be i power, to have you come and knuckle up is head may have escalated the situation beyond a couple of knuckle sandwiches. Sucks, but when dealing with fruit cakes it does not help to play the paladin.

The thing is: She didn't even call for help - she pretty much let it happen in the first place, otherwise the situation would have been resloved pretty similar - aka the guy would have been arrested.
And yeah: I learned to play the paladin only if there is danger of anything worse happening before the police could arrive.
Edit: Stupid as it is, when the whole shabang started, I kind of wished he had made it my problem. While I might have suffered a few bruises, at least he would be in custody now.

The cameras ares there...unfortunatly they aren't always connected to a recording device...
And as I learned during the questioning regarding the assault I broke up last year - the conditions for the recordings to be usable in court or even as a base for police investigation are ridiculously specific - without additional proof/testimonials, they are more or less completely useless. I am far to tired to get the details I learned straight right now (been awake since sunday morning), though.

That sucks. feytharn, how come you're sleep depriving yourself, love?
I started to do one nightshift a week when I had regular classes going on...much because 'regular' doesn't mean a thing in the pedagogy faculty (thus, if I had a dayshift job I would have had to reschedule every semester). I still do this nightshift for the extra money - sadly I still can't sleep the next day, so essentially that one night a week is just lost (on the bright side, I can afford my pathfinder subscription...)

I see. That sucks, but at least you can afford you Pathfinder subscription! Lol. I haven't been too good on the sleep department lately either. I have no real good excuse. I just can't make my brain shut the hell up sometimes. And it's been going a mile a minute for days now.
