Forcing a creature to drink something

Rules Questions

Is there a rule somewhere that would allow a PC to force someone to drink something? For example, if you have an enemy grappled and pinned, could you (or an ally) force their mouth open and make them drink a vial of poison?

Beguiling Gift. Low level spell that forces someone to use an item they are given by you. That might not work in the specific example you gave though.

It would work just fine in the example (assuming the target fails his or her save) although it is easier than that since they don't even need to be pinned or forced or anything. Just Poison + successful Beguiling Gift.
Tell them it is a healing potion, just for kicks.

It is a very fun spell. :D

By the rules, no.

You can apply potions to an unconcious creature as a full-round action, but at that point giving them poison is most likely to be pointless.

I would allow you to do it by making a combat maneuver against a pinned target.

Casts: Charm Person. "Hey buddy, leme buy you a beer!" slips vial of poison into beer. *what a waste of good beer*

Thanks for all the suggestions!

Nice imagery, but fireball can't be put into a potion.

Okay, fine, a CL9 Potion of Magic Missile, then. ;)

I believe that is called a Taco Bell Fire Burrito. :)

Um, Fireball is spell level 3.

No reason you can't put it into a potion...

Fireball targets an area, not "one or more creatures."

I should mention this is using the idea you suggest of pinning someone.

I would leave it up to RPing. There shouldn't be a rules mechanic for every little situation like that.

If the PC has gotten the mechanics of grapple/pin successfully out of the way it's then up to the player to use their brain and figure out how to get the NPC to drink the poison. Cutting off the NPC's air until they have to swallow and open their mouth to get some air comes to mind.

Leaving that kind of Role Playing opportunity up to a roll of the dice defeats the concept of Role Playing IMO.

Sorry, forgot that... just so used to casting it at a person... *shrug*

Potion of Extended Acid Arrow, friends, for some serious reflux.

I think a potion of Hydraulic Push would be more amusing, knock people prone by having a small geyser shoot out of their ass, possibly even damage them if your CMB is high enough.

Oh wow... I snorted on my green tea reading this bit.

Now I'm wondering if you could slingshot a potion bottle into a creature's mouth or something. Rules lawyer the crap out of it!

Dunno, but you can also, provided DM allows, brew the potion with an alternate medium (as per the 'rules' in Unearthed Arcana, and put it into a glass sling pellet which shatters upon impact

On a side note: What action is it to administer a poison or potion to a creature who has swallowed you..?

Coerce them with the threat of Wayne Newton music.

This has come up several times in my games. If the target's conscious, the player administering the solution must succeed a bluff check to catch the target off-guard. If the target's unconscious, I allow a fortitude save to dispel the liquid (and wake up).

I'd probably use some combination of grappling, pinning, and making Con checks to avoid swallowing.
