Male Daytona 500 DM / 12

let me just dot this thing, and roll some stats. Thanks for the opportunity.

4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 1, 3) = 8
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 5, 2) = 17
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 2, 5) = 14
4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 2, 4) = 12
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 1, 1) = 11
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 6, 4) = 19

Male Daytona 500 DM / 12

OK so 7(Ouch),15, 12, 11, 10, 16

I can deal with that.

And Away we go!

4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 6, 6) = 20=18!OMG!

4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 5, 5) = 15=14 Looking good

4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 6, 2) = 17=15 Knuckle biting time

4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 1, 6) = 15=14 Keep it together

4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 3, 5) = 10=9 Danger!

4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 1, 5) = 10=9 Oh that could have been much worse

32 point buy. The dice gods were kind today

Male Human Warrior 1

Good Rolling PWO. You doubled my point value :-).

Here is the beginning of Cody. He's good at melee,and...well he's good at melee.

OK I'm thinking Human Fighter. Uncle was member of Knights of the Golden Cross, who disappeared when headed down into the undercity to rescue a group of young nobles. His idea is to find out what happened, and to try to be like his much loved and respected uncle. More to follow, but reserving the melee fighter spot :-)

Hello all

I was thinking to play a Ranger or Monk... Unless anyone else (apart from Cody) wants to play a fighter type?
I'm willing to settle for Rogue, too (or if really need be, Cleric).

4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 5, 3) = 17= 14
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 3, 5) = 14= 12
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 1, 4) = 12= 11
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 1, 1) = 9= 8
4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 1, 4) = 13= 12
4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 1, 6) = 12= 11

Ouch.

OK, we have Cody as a fighter. Thats a start. Exoow as a Ranger , Monk, Rogue, Cleric or Fighter (still undecided).

A J s Dad wrote:

Well with my rolls I'll take whatever slot is left. My only meh class is wizard. So if i fill the arcane slot I will go Sorcerer or Bard. If a fighter I will go Barbarian as I have never played one. I will also be happy as a cleric or rogue.

So feel free to grab what you want and I'll have your back.

I would like to occupy the arcane slot, either wizard or sorcerer (pending stats). With the no APG classes, is that just starting off? As in can we multi class into something later, or would you rather just stick with core? (I'm cool with either, just want to know what the options/potential options are).

stats...
4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 6, 2) = 16int
4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 3, 5) = 15dex
4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 1, 1) = 9str
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 5, 3) = 17cha
4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 4, 2) = 8con
4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 1, 4) = 14wis

Probably going for halfling sorcerer then. Are we cool with archetypes/APG bloodlines?

Also, I own Ptolus...was semi active poster on Monte Cook's forum and read about everything I could find on Ptolus when it came out. Anymore, I try to keep my book closed and in the closet (though I'll be getting the PDF when I can afford it) and haven't done much with the setting lately. In other words, I know a bit, forgot a lot, but am super interested/excited.

In that case, I'll pick Ranger - despite my crappy stats, I'll specialize in two-weapon fighting for the sake of melee.

I'll come up with some random background story soon.

Also: I guess we need to register our character under it's own name here?
Any tips or things I should know?

I dont mind you multi classing into 'anything' as you all progress.

The Archetypes and APG bloodlines are fine also.

So now we have a confirmed Fighter and Sorcerer. PWO and Exoow still to decide.

wait a min. confused. what in the apg is kosher? traits? alt racial traits? feats? rage/rogue powers? equipment? base classes? posted from phone so please forgive curt tone not intended.

A J s Dad wrote:

Half-elf Ranger (combat style: two-weapon fighting, since you asked for two melee fighters).

Name: Lainadan Raelin. I'll create a forum alias pronto.

Can you provide some general info on the creatures/races/enemies in Ptolus? Might be interesting for the Favored Enemy ability... :)

Ouch, forgot about the whole drop the lowest part...been a while sense I rolled stats...
str 6
dex 15
con 7
int 14
wis 13
cha 16

So yeah, halfling sorcerer, shadow bloodline. Formerly head cook of a less than legitimate/not quite pirate ship. Semi asian themed, sorta a mix between Barbarosa and Chow Young Fat's character in Pirates of the Caribbean.

I'll have an alias up tonight or tomorrow.

Nice stats, but isn't it sort of obligatory to use the /dice/ tags? vJust asking. :)

@AJ's dad: do our character get to pick Traits as well (and how many)?

Exoow wrote:

Sorry Fraust, didn't see your previous post!

My stats in order:

Str 14
Dex 14 (12 + 2 racial mod)
Con 12
Int 8
Wis 11
Cha 11

No prob. I could have made it a little more clear.

I dont want pc's to use traits or alternative classes from the APG. Skills and feats as well as equipment are ok as are the sorcerer bloodlines and rogue/rage powers.

We now have a Ranger, a sorcerer and a fighter.

Mainly the same although I would steer away from Demons and devils.

Undead, Orcs, Goblins are all good.

so we need a cleric, a rogue, and an 'other'. Right?

just to nail the APG thing down, things like free hand fighter, detective bard, etc. are fine. Only the new base classes are forbidden. Right?

It would be really handy if everyone could download the players handbook from WWW.Ptolus.com. Its free and will come in extremely useful for those who dont have it.

Done, will read it once the adventure is about to start.

Do we get to roll our starting GP or do we take average?
I'm ready to buy some gear. ^^

Because Ptolus is quite high fantasy, starting gold will be maximum possible for every pc.

@GM: if you want, glance over this character's stats and gear to see if everything is according to wish.

By the way, I'm not going with the Two-weapon-fighting type but the "Switch hitter" type (Equally capable in ranged and melee). I've read an article that showed this build to be more powerful for melee than the TWF build. So I'll still be the fighter type but I can do some decent ranged damage first.

Backstory will be added soon. Going to read Ptolus Player's Guide first.

I hope other characters start joining soon.

Switch hitters are very good. Hmmm we could move you to the 'other' slot and i could take your old fighter slot and make a Barbarian.

AJD What is the party make up at this point? What are the new folks thinking?

Ok it looks like things are shaping up.

I am going Detective bard if that APG varient is allowed Traditional bard if not. The classic 'other' character.

I'm going to allow the detective bard. I think it may work well.

Rawr!

I exist in this thread. Out of the nameless void, I pull my substance from the aether:

4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 2, 2) = 11
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 4, 5) = 20
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 5, 1) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 4, 1) = 8
4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 6, 5) = 18
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 3, 3) = 13

I claw away my weaknesses, molding my essence:

(5,2,2)=9
(5,6,5)=16
(3,4,5)=12
(2,4,1)=7
(6,6,5)=17
(5,3,3)=11

And from this, I will build.

Sweet! I thought it would work in Poltus if anywhere. Now where did I put that fedora....

Forgive my confusion, AJ's Dad, am I needed as a healer/cleric, paladin, or wizard or freechoice?

From what I see (merging the two threads):

Lainadan Raelin = Ranger
Fraust = Sorc
Cody = Fighter
PWO = Bard

and from the recruit thread:

lastknightleft has been invited as a cleric
DarkOne has been invited as a wizard

I can wait to build as it suits you.

Mr. Dad--

Kicking ideas around for a proper character:

1) Would it be possible to play an Oracle from the APG?
2) Would a follower of Mirresh (Goddess of Laughter and Trickery) be welcome?

Thanks.

Mr Pain--

An Oracle will be fine

A follower of Mirresh will also be acceptable.

i read something about fire arms how does that work... or is it even allowed??

Heh, well I'm already statted up because part of wanting to play this character was doing it on a 15 point buy, but lets see what I would c;me up with if I rolled.

4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 2, 5) = 13=12
4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 5, 5) = 19=16
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 1, 3) = 12=11
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 5, 3) = 15=13
4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 1, 5) = 13=12
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 5, 2) = 12=11

wow kind of a crappy spread for a 19 point buy. I'll stick with the current stats since I can't make the concept with these.

Ugh, Ptolus gods, there's no non-evil diety of death.

@lastknightleft: search this thread for "trait", I think AJD doesn't allow them.

yup

And a non spell casting cleric. That's a first. Where are you planning to go with this? Given your cha, assuming AJD lets the non random stats slide, you look like you want to be the party face? As a bard this is one of my usual roles so I want to make sure we won't be getting in each others way.

Um, I'm not really a party roles player/DM, the high charisma is to make his channeling effective and to explain why people would ever bother listening to a priest who can't cast spells, because he's so darn charismatic that people are willing to listen to him despite the fact that he's a darned fool.

As to the lack of traits ouch, that just hurts, the biggest loss from 3.5 was the extra skill points at first level that could be used to flesh out your background, traits were introduced as a replacement and actually came out with companions way before the APG. Also that means I loose the undead subdomain which hurts even more, I'll have to go looking over domains and select new ones as there isn't a non evil death god and I don't get that subdomain, cest la vie.

EDIT: wait AJ allows some things from the APJ (sorcerer's bloodlines) what about subdomains? Since I don't cast spells and only get to use my domain powers once per day, I need the best I can come to the table with.

Firstly to AJ, thanx for allowing me to take part in this adventure.

I downloaded the free sample guide for Ptolus.

I will be taking up the the wizard character. I noticed the elves are more sorcerers than wizards. To me it seems the dwarves are the wizards of the setting. Am I correct in my assumption? If not, which race is most appropriate for the wizard character?

Also is there any specific features you require of the wizard?

I see die rolls are displayed. How does one do them. I have not done a forum game on Paizo forums.

Like so {dice} 1d20+4 {/dice}

Just change the "{}" to "[]"

if you click the "BBCode tags you can use:" button below where you enter text when you post you get a longer explanation and the forms for other options.

Welcome to the game.

When you reply, there's a BBCode tags you can use - click "Show".

There's an example in that list.

Just put dice tags (dice) and (/dice), but use [] instead of (). Between the tags, put your dice expression, like 2d6+3.
2d6 + 3 ⇒ (5, 1) + 3 = 9

Especially since I'm taking an intentional hit to power since my stats would stay practically the same only better (my 18 came from a 16 +2 human bonus and I got a 16)

hmmm... Jack of all Trades, Master of None

To increase the Intelligence score of 14, I have two options, Human and Elf. Though elves in this setting tend to be sorcerers, not wizards. Really only leaves the Human as the choice.

With Intelligence at 16, it does seem like the human wizard would be fine, though not a great wizard.

I see what AJD has to say before I continue building the character.

I think that there is no real favoured race for wizards. But human will probably be the most well represented.

Also I have had a rethink. Traits are allowed
