Any concerns about particular classes? (GM's only, please - spoilers)

Has anyone encouraged/prohibited classes in this AP?

I had one gentleman who wanted to play a paladin but thought it might make the AP too easy. He's switching to fighter/ranger, which should be fine.

I have another who wants to play a necromancer, and I'm worried that he won't have any fun. I don't see much in the way of undead he'll be able to command, even in the first book. Besides, creating undead does not endear one to the populace, so I worry about what it will do to trust levels if he's found out.

We're planning on doing without a cleric or paladin entirely. I'll run a GMPC bard to buff and heal.

Those of you who have started already, any thoughts on the above?

It might just be because I'm that DM that plays a kobold like the second coming of Hannibal, but Paladin is not OP for this. Our undead scourge paladin has had a couple of "near death" experiences thus far, and he's fully optimized. :P

I allow Core & APG, no Ultimate yet simply because I need to learn it before I'll DM it.

I would not prohibit any classes. The ratio of evil bad guys to neutral bad guys will be about the same. I would suggest the players pick up knowledge skills, and social skills when they make their characters though.

+1 You will want a FOP with social skills, and a know-it-all pc in the mix somehow. The player's guide does a fairly good job of alluding to this, so be sure they read it.

I banned good aligment in my group (wanted to have a party in a morally grey area), and to extension, Paladins.

Why and to what effect were you hoping for?

I would just write neutral down and be good by my actions anyway.
