Anyone can, it's just a heal check.

Of course, they need to know it's there in the first place.

Combine any of the healing-type spells that the eidolon can take [i.e. "stabilize" with basic magic, "cure light wounds" with minor magic] with the Resilient Eidolon feat, and you get yerself a second chance when there's no healer at hand. Not too bad an insurance policy when you're unconscious.

What's in the narrow list Vlad?

Depending on just how limited it is, it may nevertheless be an awesome flavor option (a sneaky eidolon that can disappear with vanish or sling fireballs a few times a day for the pyromaniac summoner).

acid arrow, cure moderate wounds, darkness, daze monster,

glide, invisibility (self only), lesser restoration, levitate, minor
image, scorching ray, see invisibility, or spider climb for 3 points

arcane sight, create food and water, cure serious
wounds, daylight, fireball, fly, gaseous form, lightning bolt, major
image, stinking cloud, tongues, or water breathing for 4(must have 3-point evo already)
Not exactly unplayable, and VERY good for evolution surge,but...7 points for 1/day fireball...
Well,more options are always good)

That could work better, actually. Does the bomb have to be placed anywhere specific, or can the location be chosen?

What kind of powers do the Rakshasa and varius genie bloodlines get?

What are the bonus spells known for the new bloodlines?

Just says in their body, so it's up to the GM.

Anyone mind posting some of the specifics of the Staff Magus?

Dragon78 wrote:

Rakshasa are sneaky, the bloodline arcana adds penalties (quite hefty ones with time) to the DC to identify what spells you are casting, and causes them to think it's a completely different spell if they fail by enough. Makes counterspelling harder.

They can, a few times a day, gain a bonus on lieing, similar to glibness, and it's harder to cast truth detection on them.

They can read minds a few times a day for a round, similar to detect thoughts.

They get a supernatural ability to hide from prying magic, an at will nondetection ability.

They can eventually shape-change into any humanoid they want at will, as if using alter self.

Eventually they become an animal headed human, gain a bucket load of DR/Piercing, become Native Outsiders, and generally are very scary.

Wow. That is pretty terrible. What's the point of even having levitate, fly, and spider climb on the list when you can get the flight evolution for only 2 or 4 points?

The "image" and "invisibility" spells have their uses. Some of the utility spells range from meh (water breathing) to sheer awesome (see invisibility). The attack spells also add some much needed range ability to the eidolon. Still the cost for those abilities seem WAY too high.

Evolved Familiar

You can buy a 1 point eidelon evolution for your familiar. If you lose your familiar, you can respend that point on the new familiar (doesn't have to be the same evolution).

This is a feat, correct? Are there any prerequisites?

It would seem that the skilled evolution would be perfect for those who favour wand/scroll wielding familiars. +8 racial bonus to Use Magic Device rolls? Yes please!

Are there any other familiar feats?

There really isn't a Magus archetype for not wearing heavy armor?

Yep, and there's going to be a bunch of unhappy stat dumping casters. :)

Int 13, Cha 13, familiar class feature.

:)

BTW : I love seeing things like this in the book, really good feats you can't get if you stat dump. :) Gives people a reason to rethink that whole play style. :)

Granted, 13 isn't just !dump, it's boost, but still, anything that makes CHA and INT combined more important to keep up is a boon.

Staff Magus, an expert in staff use, including quarterstaffs.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A staff magus is
proficient with simple weapons only. He can cast magus
spells while wearing light armor without incurring the
normal arcane spell failure chance.

Xum wrote:

I hope there is...

That was kind of my beef with APG, it ignored some of the most obvious archetypes, even ones that Paizo has done before in 3.5, such as a skillful Fighter, in favor of stuff like 2Handed and Archer Fighter, i.e. stuff that worked just fine as-is. I feel like there`s a tendency towards `cool rule inflation` and focus-specializing in every area (ignoring that some areas don`t need specialization to work great as-is), and ignoring the other side of Archetypes, namely not what you gain, but what you give up can be just as flavorful.

Oh that's evil. I'm totally doing that with my arcane trickster monkey familiar.

So, any more love for familiars? Additional spells, feats or options?

Any details on Cleric archtypes? Or new Witch hexes/spells? Please and thank you.

How did the Magus archetypes turn out? Specifically, Bladebound

Also, any feat/archetype that allows for a Magus to use a 2 handed or ranged weapon with relative ease with SpellStrike?

B0sh1 wrote:

Bladebound,IMO,is the only Magus archetype worth taking. It costs a little Arcana Pool, grants a little Arcana Pool and gets you a free scalable weapon,+2 on 5th +1 every 4 levels. Also there is Black Blade Strike ability-+2 on 5th +1 every 4 levels extra damage for the same 1 minute(and this is a FREE action). So,the total pain is veeery good.

I heard it also can cast spells, but who needs that?

I remember a while back that a Alchemist's formula called Anthropomorphize Animal was listed in the Paizo blog. Without going into too many details, can I get some information on what this is like? Is it limited to alchemists only, and do they give a template or the like to use with it?

Thanks for any help.

What about Cloistered Clerics? How are they?

Anthropomorphic Animal

Interesting. The animal in question is not automatically made friendly towards you.

I also noticed that it keeps its Animal type.

Tamagon wrote:

Somewhat sucky.4+int,more class skills,one domain,-1 slot/spell level,bardic knowledge.

Ambrus wrote:

Well, you know about the new ones from the preview.

Alchemist Tutor familiars can take a feat to die for their master in his place.

Eldritch Heritage let's anyone get a familiar, even non-magical classes.

Other than that, no, sorry.

So what do the genies bloodlines have going for them?

What kind of abilities with channeling do clerics get?

Now that I can get the construct armor I always wanted I now officially LOVE this book if not for anything else.

Wow, even before the book has hit the street release date. That was fast...

edit: to take that discussion elsewhere here's a thread on the topic.

They all get the following

Energy substitution.
Elemental Ray
Buckets of elemental resistance
Movement Mode
Limit wish (DOH!)

Djinni
Electricity
Elemental Form
Flight

Efreeti
Fire
Elemental Form
Big boost to ground movement

Marid
Frost
Ability to shoot a gout of water
Swim Speed

Shaitan
Acid
Ability to bull rush people you hurt with a spell
Burrow Speed

Woah,
Bards just got some lovin.

Allegro, 2nd level bard spell.

While performing a bardic performance, they can cast this to be under a Haste effect for the rest of their performance.

Well, obviously it loses ability to SNA spontaneously and to have an animal companion.Second domain replaces venom immunity.

Menhir savant is interesting.Trades low-level abilities for a)detect fey-outsiders-undead and b)add a +1 CL for 1 round 3+wis per day
Not bad,but it's not the saurian shaman. Those are real killers.

You know I was almost becoming prepared to dislike large pieces simply from the glimpses I had seen in previews and what not -- but with the bit more that I saw thanks to a few leaks from friends I'm actually much happier and excited about this book.

Which, though legal, is extremely rude. During past releases, the Paizo developers specifically asked people on the forums not to post so much detail (not verbatim in other words) BEFORE the book's release, as it may damage how many copies they sell.

Honestly I don't think they did it without asking first -- I imagine this is an experiment on Paizo's part -- there is a lot of excitement over this book and it's not their core rules so they might be giving some prerelease pressure with teaser material to help seal the deal.

I know I'm more excited about it now than I was before I had seen stuff from friends.

Polite request: For those who know, it might be nice if comments about this subject didn't continue. Google will be rolling out page-level permissions soon which will allow us to lock down the work area. If my Google Analytics logs show a lot of traffic in the work area I'll have to move the content off-site, which will *significantly* slow down our progress.

Any chance at finding out about the dirge singer bard, or the dragon shaman. What do they get, what do they loose?

Siren's Mask wrote:

Dirge Bard

He get's a performance that let's him animate skeletons and such like animate dead, but only for the duration of the performance. It replaces Jack of All Trades. There's a typo on it though, it says at 10th level. :) I think it's supposed to be at 1st level.

He gains a bonus against fear, drain, death, and necromantic effects at 2nd level (replacing well-versed)

He gains a bonus to ID undead and may use mind affecting effects on undead. He also get's a handful of necromantic spells. Replaces Versatile Performance.

Finally, he can use keyboards or percussion instruments to demoralize opponents, and all saving throws against his fear effects are harder to make. Replaces lore master.

Dragon Shaman

Can only have a crocodile or monitor lizard (I'd rule as a GM that a Gator is fine too, if he's from Louisiana). :) He's god different domains he can pick instead, mostly the normal, but also destruction and war.

Gains a bonus to use wild empathy as a full round action vs lizards.

He can adopt aspects of a dragon starting at second level. Basically one ability, like flight, lowlight, bonuses to perception, natural ac, endurance, claws, or grapple bonuses. While doing so, they can speak with lizards at will. Can't be used while polymorphed.

Summoning lizards is a standard action, not a full round action. And can monkey with the level of the spell by applying templates to the lizards, either making them young, or advanced, or giant, or both. That replaces Thousand Faces.

Her wild shape is delayed until 6th level (due to dragon aspect).

At 8th she get's a dragon bite attack, which adds 1d6 of energy damage (her choice each time) when she has a bite attack to attack with (IE: when wild-shaped or dragon aspected, although it seems a half-orc with tusky would get it all the time). This replaces the 8th level wildshape ability.

She get's bonuse feats at 9th and every 4 levels after to replace venom immunity.

Seems to be a typo on the dragon aspect, it's replacing wild shape, but it doesn't say so. You have to intuit it from the fact her wildshape is listed at 6th level instead.

Since everybody seems to be ignoring my thread on the topic:

Cold Ice Strike - Is it a fix for blasting casters or a printing error?

The spell is a sixth level version of Cone of Cold, only that it is cast as a swift action. However, the "Components" line is missing completely from the spell description, so it is conceivable that it has a costly component which was left out due to a printing error.

Opinions?

Logical answer... provides immunity to drowning, suffocation, smoke effects, and presumably poisons that do damage by inhalation.

So... even the Iconic Magus doesn't wear armor.... and there isn't an Archetype for it.... yeah it makes sense...

What are the class skills for the sorcerer bloodlines?

What does the cleric get with the channeling options?

Are there any new rules/options for item creation(not constructs)?

What do you get with the Mooncaller druid archtype?

The summoner arch type that is like the "Guyver" how does it work exactually? what do you loose?

Normal eidolon.

Instead, when you summon it,you get its physical stats,NA,armor,yadda-yadda,its hit points as temporary hit points(!!!),and still can use your equipment(probably not armor;not very clear)
Dragon78 wrote:

Nothing worth mentioning.darkvision, alternate save bonuses(not fey but lycantropes),immunity vs disease(not poison)and some sucky DR instead of thousand faces.Like,DR 5/sil at 19 level. All barbarian will laugh at you, that's for sure.

I,personally, prefer Bladebound, mostly because +10 free weapon with extra +5 to damage is good even without spells.Something like soulknife from 3.5

Add 6-lv full-CL casting on top of that and we have a good blaster/skirmisher.
Who,unlike fighter,CAN cast haste.
