It is not banned in PFS; it can be taken as long as the weapon itself is allowed in Society play. Mok provided the link. It does require some care if it is providing proficiency with a weapon with which the character is otherwise non-proficient and if you are planning on taking feats that build on weapon proficiency, such as weapon focus, etc.
