So I just built myself a super-uber PC and there's nothing interesting out game-wise. Nothing good on my PS3 even since Dead Space 2.
Playing Borderlands on my PC ATM, isn't there anything decent coming earlier than oct/nov? Even the summer looks bleak for video games.
Crysis 2? Dragon Age II? Bulletstorm? Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood? All of those just came out.
Star Wars: The Old Republic? Portal 2? Deus Ex: Human Revolution? Brink? Dead Island? All of these are coming out, plus a ton more. This is one of the best years for gaming in a really long time. Tons of quality titles on the way.

Mass Effect 3 and the Witcher 2 are coming out this year too, on top of the list Scott put up above.
But much more importantly: Dino D-Day

I played the first Crysis, not a fan of the franchise. DA2 I am not interested though the first one is one of the best CRPGs ever. What they did to DA2 was depressing.
Ill look into Bulletstorm and maybe Deus Ex. The original Deus Ex had some inconsistent graphics which was kind of annoying. Ill wait for reviews. Isnt Squaresoft doing Deus Ex? I love square but this is a negative for me.
The Dead Island controversial Trailer was incredible, but not a huge fan of Zombie games.
SW: The Old Republic looks good, Ill wait for reviews.
@Tarlane... I tried 3x to get through the original Mass Effect before shelving it out of boredom. I also passed on ME2 because I didnt finish the first one, 3 will be out for me. :/
So far im only looking forward to...
Batman: Arkham City and Uncharted 3 on the PS3.
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Diablo 3 (if it makes it out the door this year) on PC.
All of these are at the end of the year :(
Ill likely pick up Dawn Of War 2: Retribution next as ive enjoyed DoW2 and the Chaos Rising expansion.

Trying to be more productive than my dino d-day reference above, Dungeon Siege III is supposed to be out and from what I've seen its supposed to be better than the first two(which were decent if not great).
Brink is coming out soon, which as an FPS looks really good. Some stuff about Brink below, since I don't think the game has gotten the attention I think it should have yet.

Less than two weeks.
...I can't wait. :)
I watched the videos detailing new features yesterday. Portal 2 is going to be insane...all the new toys...all the new ways to torment turret-drones. And the developer tools! My dream of a steampunk reboot of the original Portal is drawing nearer and nearer.

Ok, took a look into Darkspore. Im surprised this one was below my radar. Its a sci-fi Diablo-type action RPG with insane amounts of hero customization. I probably overlooked this because I didnt care for the type of game the original Spore was.
Darkspore has alot of potential, especially in co-op mode. It reminds me of running 5 man instances in WoW. You have a tank type, ranged dps, melee dps, healer etc.
Looks good.

Dry season?
Let's see:
It started with Bulletstorm. It's true that the game doesn't have too much long-time motivation, but for a time, it's great.
Then there would be Crysis 2, but Crytek failed quite misearably. The game itself would be good if it didn't have more bugs (including those that make you restrain yourself from thrashing the whole room) than that one planet from Starship Troopers. Maybe they have fixed it by now, but I didn't bother to look.
Then there's Portal 2! A game that is just awesome.
And while this is not for the PC, but rather for the PS3, there's the new Mortal Kombat which is pretty damn awesome.
In the next weeks/months, we'll see a lot of other great games. Here's what I'm waiting for:
The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. The first game was quite awesome, the sequel should be great, too.
F.3.A.R. (aka FEAR 3). Liked the other two games, Will definitely look into that one.
Might & Magic: Heroes 6. Next part in the HoMM series, looking very promising. If you want round-based strategy with RPG elements, Heroes of Might and Magic is the game series for you.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution. It sounds a lot like they're finally doing a worthy sequal to Deus Ex (let's just not talk about Deus Ex 2), the best FPS/RPG blend I have ever played.
And that's just until August, and stuff I'm personally waiting for/have played. There's more than that.
I'd say that it has been years since there were so many games I was actively anticipating all in the same year.

I just bought and played through Crysis 2 last week on PC. It ran flawlessly. If there were bugs, they've been handily squashed.

Meh, fighting and racing games are fun for about 2-3 days for me before I get bored. Square taking over Dungeon Siege, Tomb Raider, and Deus Ex leaves me cold.
I love square but not for these franchises. IMHO the last good square game for me was FFX.
To me it's kind of a dry season because all my usual must buys begin in October. Arkham City, Uncharted 3, Skyrim, possibly Diablo 3, etc.
Just finished Borderlands and the DLCs, I'll probably pick up Darkspore this week and Duke Nukem June 14th and maybe Alice Returns. then I'm dry again for the summer :(

We also had earlier this year Marvel vs Capcom 3 (not as good as it should/could be, but damn fun and worth it on nostalgic value) and we will have Gears of War 3 in september (only on Xbox, but I have an Xbox, so it's good for me), on top of all the others mentioned. Like Scott said, one of the best years for gaming in a really long time.

What kind of hardware are you running it on? I had a top-of-the-line PC when the original Crysis came out, but something in the coding made it run somewhat sluggish even on ridiculously high-powered machines. Is that not so much an issue with the second one? Or were you not running it on the highest settings?

Just a reminder.... Op states "dry season" not Year. This is a great year for games, Just the summer looks bleak (for me at least). Hence the dry season post.
Did you enjoy Doom 3? What about Fallout 3? If you liked those, check out Metro 2033. I just got it last weekend and it's pretty awesome.

I have a fairly mid-range rig: dual-core processor, 3 gigs of RAM, Radeon HD 4870. It ran the original Crysis, and it took disabling a number of graphical effects to get it to run playably. Crysis 2 is extremely well-optimized. It runs a lot better than the first Crysis did (I haven't upgraded my system since then, so it's all about the game) and with more graphical effects enabled. You'll be pleasantly surprised, I wager.

Well then, I may have to look into acquiring it. I still have the same system today that I did back then, but it was bleeding-edge in 2008 and still fairly formidable by today's standards. If they ironed out all the graphical issues, that's a major plus in my book.

I did not experience any bugs in Cryis 2, the squid's were a bit stupid tough.
Try playing multiplayer. If the connection to the server drops, all your progress is surely lost. Which is worse than what happens if you quit in your orderly manner, which is that there is merely a significant chance that all the progress is lost.
Then there is the practically non-existent anti-cheat functionality (which might have improved since I stopped playing, but I'm not really confident in their ability).
What else? They messed up the multi-GPU support, which is fun in a game that is overhungry in resources.
That are just the highlights, there is way more, but those were the once that made me think about driving over to their offices and beating them all to death with a pair of GPUs.

I do not play multiplayer, but the multi-GPU issue is a valid concern for me as my system uses SLI.
