Marvel vs DC Gahh!!, I used to be quite the collector, but dropped out in the bad 90's like most people, I just read Dark Horse Classics like Groo, Usagi Yojimbo and coming up Elfquest, and only read the ocassional comic from the big two now. The quality of writing and art IMHO has generally improved for both companies. But I think I kinda outgrew the medium. Still I find the same holds true for my youth DC does better heroes and Marvel better villains.

Silver Crusade

Joe Quesada can go back in time and talk to Shakespeare about how to manage comic book stories and characters. Geoff had a great time writing GL comic books.

About GL: I think GL is a great concept for a character. He's the best character D.C. really ever thought up. Now if Marvel can create a mutant that can do what G.L. does but drops the ring, well that would be just too scary for most parasites. I think Geoff Johns had a great run on G.L., and Quesada is a meddler.

Although, to tell you the truth, if the Copyright Law of America were abolished, these two guys would have to compete with a legion of comic book fans who are creative and could write.

Ever hear of Quasar and the Quantum Bands? A cosmic artifact that is powered by the will and imagination of the wielder to create energy constructs.

Marvel has the better villain in terms of Thanos. But I still dig the Anti-Monitor. I just wish he had a better name....

Darkseid Is. And he was created by Kirby. 'Nuff said.

I don't buy comics from either company now either. Retcons, hack writers, and too much "realistic" violence chased me off and I don't see myself going back.

I haven't collected comics in a long time, but considering what both Geoff Johns and Joe Quesada have done to them and to characters I used to love choosing between the two of them is sort like choosing between having a root canal done on all your teeth one after another without painkillers or the choice of having somebody pull all your fingernails off with a pair of pliers.

If forced to choose I would say Quesada is worse just because Spider-man used to be one of my favorite characters when I was a kid.

I just saw this thread, saw the OP, and I just want to say...

Take that back about Ninjak! The old Valiant stuff was GREAT! Well, at least until they sold themselves to Acclaim. But we'll not talk of that dark time...

Oh, and as for Quesada and Marvel, their seemingly arbitrary pricing keeps me away.

But I'm a big Image fanboy at heart, so, you know...
