She has volunteered that duty again, yes. Your post here is just as much a question to her, though, so I'll let her answer that.... ;-)

Things are certainly (touch wood) heading that way. I'm still a couple of revisions away from handing it in, but I have the mechanics at the centre of an article thrashed out now.

I believe that this is where I'm supposed to do a Paizo-style tease, of course, and say I might have had some ideas too big and awesome for #5. Ideas which needed a winter pdf with colour and page-count to do them justice... Well those things and the time to actually think through some of the finer points. ;)

I would think after the amount of questions you asked James and Jason in the kingdom building thread you ought to have plenty of ideas.

I went and cut/pasted the responses they made and have 10+ pages of stuff. To be combined with a retype of the rules from Kingmaker for my home game. Just making the player handout with building types and costs was grueling with me typing (badly) 20 words a minute.

Article sent! (Finally I get to write something - woohoo!)

I trust everybody else is busy typing away to inundate Tim with submissions...

Also, please remember that this is a fan project, and donations are needed to print! Third party publishers are encouraged to advertise and get some eyes on your Pathfinder Products - go go go!

Artsy time is approaching fast, all volunteer artists should start to sharpen your pencils and line up to get printed-published!

Also, donors are MOST appreciated (and needed), as an extra donation encouragement, Tim will be washing the cars of local donors wearing a swimming suit. Or maybe not. ;P

And now the Wayfinder: Summer Swimsuit edition

I can't wait!

A question for you, Timitius.

Are you accepting individual monsters for the Bestiary? I already sent you a submission with three thematically linked monsters, but I was wondering if you had room for two or three more [unrelated] critters for a general Bestiary section.

Tom (and everyone else who's interested),

Here's what I do....I am good with anyone sending in what they want to, up until April 12th. Now, some people have been very busy, and have submitted two, even THREE, pieces to me so far. Anything over your first submission, I hold in reserve.

After April 12th, I will look at my total prospective page count, and see what I have. If we are over our set total page count, then I need to make decisions.

First, make sure articles aren't overlapping in their content. Two similar articles? I need to select the better of the two.

Next, I look at who has two or more submissions. I need select their strongest submission to keep, and those extras in reserve...they are set aside. Maybe next issue? Maybe we find a place for it. (shrug)

Lastly, I look at the balance of the types of articles. Equal amounts of fiction, crunchy bits, and some fluff...that's the goal. So, maybe I see that I've got a LOT of fiction, but not enough monsters. Solution? Grab those articles in reserve that had monsters...roll them together into a Bestiary piece!

In THEORY, that's how this will play out. So, the short answer? Yes, go ahead and make your monsters, Tom. If I need them, well, I'll have them to use. If I don't...then they don't get used.

Tim

By the way.....

FIVE DAYS REMAIN until the submission deadline.

Currently, I have about 50% of our page count "filled".

I fully expect to see 48% of the remainder come in on April 12th. :P

So, surprise me....get them in sooner! :D

Sheesh - creative types! :)

Tim, do you have a rough idea how soon after April 12 you might make final decisions / cuts and send out acceptance / rejection e-mails

Thanks!

Ready and waiting for editable pieces! And cookies. Speaking of which, why doesn't Lilith have a new cookie recipe for each issue? It just seems like something that should be there.

Nope. It's my understanding that you won't really know until we release it...think of it as a surprise!

(Our goal is to try and use something from everyone....and I won't know the possibility of that until I have them all).

Speaking from personal experience finding out you were cut out of the fanzine on the release was a very bitter pill to swallow. It was very hard to get excited for the others when you were dealing with the sting of being cut. I'd have loved to have found out that I'd been cut early so I could just love the fanzine for what it was (and I didn't have to deal with what it wasn't).

Fair enough. I'll try and let you know...probably when it's set and off to the printer.

Hey Tim, I am still frantically writing to get you something good.

I'm down for submitting artwork. Emails sent.

Blargh...

Spent a good portion of my birthday working on my submission. Still not quite ready. I was hoping to mail it off today, but looks like I'll be sleeping on it and giving it a final polish in the morning. It's not my usual style, so it's giving me a bit more work than usual. Almost there.

Liberty's Edge

ok, sending my own piece. There is some hard work from my editors on these piece, so i hope you like it... whichever its destiny may be. hate wordcount :P

Edit: sent, lets hope the head editor likes it

And...sent.

Contributor, RPG Superstar 2009, RPG Superstar Judgernaut

One piece down and one to go. Since the second is a companion piece to the first one, I'll wait to send until the actual deadline. That way, if I don't finish the second one, I can still send in the one that's complete as a stand-alone article.

I will have something ready by the deadline... Maybe tomorrow (a day early).

Wish I had time to write something else, but it is showtime down here.

So near, but the castle/noble villa/mansion building modifier may be the wrong way around, because leadership step comes before other stuff. (Also there is the claim hex/peaceful annexation problem).
WHO DESIGNED THIS KINGDOM TURN SEQUENCE??? No don't answer, that was rhetorical. I know it was James Jacobs...
Need to go out... Walk. Fresh air. De-stress. Think more calmly about it.

I had to redesign it for my upcoming campaign. Also had to tweak the economy and consumption. In my last game BP production got out of control. The players decided to build a city state. 1 hex with 17 districts for the city and only claimed the surrounding hexes. They were stockpiling too much BP and needed ways to spend it quicker.

But the claim hex/annexation problem?

ONE DAY REMAINS!

If you are going to submit something to us for Wayfinder #5, now is the time to start wrapping it up, and putting a bow on it for me.

I will accept your submissions until 11:59:59 pm Pacific Time, Tuesday, April 12, 2011.

Also - and I cannot stress this strongly enough - make sure your submission meets our guidelines (located at the front of this thread).

You make it too easy for me to reject your piece if you don't follow the rules.

That is all....carry on.

I was partially looking at something regarding the fact that when a kingdom claims a hex already occupied by a settlement (usually because that hex is already part of a nother kingdom) there is a chance of the inhabitants of that settlement getting rather unhappy about it...

(See Rivers Run Red, page 56, 'special resources: Towns'.)
However word-count is a harsh mistress, and I do not know if it will make it into the final article.

Well, I wanted to be part of this, but I've got freelancing work for some 3PPs to get done, and I realize I don't have time to do both. :(

:(
Kingdom building submitted, but just the core of the article is 1,680 words. I figure everything outside the core can be regarded as optional, and the core may edit down given my tendency to try and be perhaps over-precise, but I still don't know if it will make it, unless there's enough material (with other writers perhaps???) to make four pages.
Oh well, maybe it'll make the pdf. :-?

On a brighter note, a piece of fiction titled 'Absolute War' which I wrote earlier now in (and under 1,500 words!).

And now I can perhaps get a decent night's sleep for the first time in maybe a week...
I hope...
