He's a strange creature, that's for sure. My prediction is that in part 3 (if there is one), you're going to find out he's the hidden god of magic.
After the frozen ogre and "not enchantment", I'm hoping that on DAIII we can get him as a mage on our party. You just know he would have some of the best lines in the trilogy. Also whatever rune he had in that rock I want one too.

Sandal, ALONE, with full shop mounted, in the midle of the gallows, surrounded by the corpses of abominations, a desire demon and what I swear is a PRIDE demon.
And he did that alone. Most powerfull mage in the game? YES.
