Is that even a real thing?

Dude. Clicque thread. GTFO.

Look through your post history on that thread, Sebastian. It is everywhere. You in particular were just posting to goad people into a fight. You should feel free to clown around as you like, but a lot of your posting on the last couple of pages in that thread is simply disruptive, and I don't really see how that sort of conduct is good for the community.

Second place ain't so bad.

This clique that protects me from the moderators isn't working as advertised...

I got your point Erik, I didn't start this thread to dispute it or further the meta debate discussion. That'd be a bit dickish, even for me.

I just thought lame weakness was a redundant/ambiguous descriptor. It reminded me if a friend who once used the term "butt-ass". I was shooting for levity for this thread, and I see I didn't hit the mark.

Sorry I pushed your buttons, here and there.

After so much Stage 3b passive aggressive metastasis, I found a little active aggression to be a breath of fresh air.

Paizo Employee Chief Creative Officer, Publisher

"Butt-ass" would have also worked. :)

I have to agree with Erik and say that thread was bad and not good for the community.

Although, I don't really see it as a sign of moderator/clique dark gloominess, I think we can do better.

I always miss the good stuff.

Personally, I think the thread that got closed was a wonderful example of how much communication and human interaction breaks down when you don't have body language, inflection, and vocal tone to accompany responses. All we have is text, and you could see all over the place where words got twisted, misused, misinterpreted, etc.

I have no qualms with it getting closed, by the end it was just mud flinging, but I saw people on both sides(myself included) who just could not keep the snark out of what were otherwise insightful comments. Some posters really do know what they are talking about, and have a lot of knowledge to share, but when they do so with back-handed comments and condescending sneers, whatever positivity they were going for got lost in the delivery.

Then they shrug their shoulders and wonder why everyone gets pissed.

Kind of like a digital Lord of the Flies.

Certain themes always attract the attention of the some of the same folks and the results are always the same. It's so predictable as to be tragicomical. If there's a circle of folks who gather to kick dirt on the flames, and little blue gnomes, and eventually pony poo, well, that's the community's antibodies, in my book. Also, Jandrem's pretty much right on the money.

Actually, I found the whole discussion of Mearls' column very interesting, but yeah, that thread was entirely too butt-ass at the end.

-The Gneech

It was a fine thread with a fine discussion going until some individuals purposefully tried to derail it. When that didn't work they began being insulting and offensive which eventually accomplished their goal of ending the discussion. Congrats!

In the future when a person willfully and deliberately attempts to derail a thread (and even states so in the derailing post) THAT post should be removed.

If you are not interested in a discussion just stay out of the thread. If you can't meaningfully post to a discussion don't post anything at all.

Dark Archive Bella Sara Charter Superscriber

It's all worth it if butt-ass takes root in gamer vocabulary.

Congratulations aren't necessary, but are appreciated.

You have no idea how funny it is to me for you to just say that. Ha-Haw!

I believe he's referring to my last name.

Spoiler:

It's Money. As in, yes, M-O-N-E-Y. No, not related to Eddie Money(whose real name is Mooney).

Actually, my new word of the day from the closed thread in question is definitely "butthurt". A great noun for unjustified indignant emotions resulting from inconsequential internet pap. It made me LOL.

Does that mean we discuss a PF/DND themed restaurant or one cities superior culinary options in this thread now?

@PW unzip glad you found butthurt its an excellent internet word derisive and dismissive.

That IS funny.

Told you so, Professor!

Jandrem actually needs his own sitcom. I already got the clichéd title worked out: That's So Money. Need whatever I can from that Hollywood profit pie.

This warlock's in line for a new sitcom comedy gig. I'm comedy gold, bro. Banging and winning are a magical combination. Duh!

I still like my idea of a restuarant with tiers. Each tier is higher than the last and has better food. Which tier you can access depends on how many times you've been there, and how much you pay the maitre'd - a devlishly handsome zombie who shall remain nameless.

Of course, I believe that also goes for folks who like nothing more than to "prove" everyone else is "wrong" or "incorrect".

Nice metaphor.

I suppose that's partly why a hallmark of messageboarding is to not budge from your opinion and simply restate it again and again, freqently in a more strident tone.

There is a difference between introducing levity in and derailing...especially when people in the thread are taking themselves too seriously.

Its good to have discussion - but when its going nowhere what is the point.

Both camps were not going to budge and both camps were being mean to each-other why not throw a monkey in to change the tone.

Thank you, I thought it flowed well.

I think the main factor is that the sides can't break down into a fistfight when they become enraged, all they can do is continue to post worse and worse insults. And if a mod isn't alerted, they can't break it up.

My back is full of weak lameness, right above my butt-ass. Unfortunately, this entails a good deal of pain. :(

Try a Korean massage, it's good for making weak lame things hard and stiff.
