It is my understanding that the Ethereal plane has nothing to do with being incorporeal. I have been trying to find info from the PFSRD but so far no luck.
Granted, most incorporeals roam the ethereal plane but thats doesn't effect being incorporeal.
I will post what I find when I do. (not that familiar with the srd so taking a bit.)
Here is an example of what I mean :
Ghost Touch
Aura Moderate conjuration; CL 9th; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, plane shift; Price +1 bonus.
DescriptionA ghost touch weapon deals damage normally against incorporeal creatures, regardless of its bonus. An incorporeal creature's 50% reduction in damage from corporeal sources does not apply to attacks made against it with ghost touch weapons. The weapon can be picked up and moved by an incorporeal creature at any time. A manifesting ghost can wield the weapon against corporeal foes. Essentially, a ghost touch weapon counts as both corporeal or incorporeal.
Notice how it doesn't say anything ethereal. So, you can have a ghost touch weapon and take it to the ethereal plane. Plus it effects incorporeals.
As for how to become incorporeal, I have not found anything as yet to do that.
Please tell me why you want to become incorporeal. Then I could advise you better.

I did some digging and found that the undead bloodline lets you become incorporeal a few rounds a day. But other than that and maybe the shadow projection spell Remco mentioned. Outside of that mayyyyybe you could use polymorph any object to turn yourself into an incorporeal creature for a little while at a time. But I am not entirely sure what that would do all of your stats though.

Shadow Projection wouldn't work.
"With this spell, you infuse your life force and psyche into your shadow, giving it independent life and movement as if it were an undead shadow. Your physical body lies comatose while you are projecting your shadow, and your body has no shadow or reflection while the spell is in effect."
I figure you were thinking maybe in combat. The 1 minute cast time plus your physical body is laying there. Not even a choice in combat. And if you were thinking about attacking a incorporeal critter, it should work no different than two solid critters. Only problem is, you wouldn't have any armor/weapons..etc other than what the incorporeal shadow has.
Heres the conditions:
1. The undead bloodline would have to be a standard action or faster.
2. You take all your equipment.
3. All your equipment functions exactly like it would in the solid form.
time frame wouldn't matter too much. Otherwise, no good options here.

I just wanted to update this since I was just searching on the same topic:
Dust Form: School transmutation (polymorph); Level alchemist 5, cleric 6, druid 6, witch 6
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S, M (a pinch of dust gathered from a gravestone or sacred shrine)
Range personal
Target you
Duration 1 round/level
Upon casting this spell, you keep your relative form, but you and your equipment become composed entirely of dust. While in this dust form, you take no penalties for squeezing, and can move through spaces as if you were a creature three size categories smaller without penalty. You are also considered incorporeal, though any nonmagical attack you make deals half damage (50%). Magic attacks are unaffected, and you can still use your magic items and other equipment as normal.
If the duration ends in a square that your normal space cannot occupy, you take 3d6 damage and are shunted to the nearest open space that you can normally occupy.
Also Apparently you can give eidolons incorporeal forms, so a synthesist or lvl 20 twin eidolon could be incorporeal also. Again, the dreamspun bloodline gives you an incorporeal form at level 20.
Lastly there is an 11th level revelation in the Bones Mystery that lets you become incorporeal, but you may only move during this time. The 15th level undead sorcerer power has already been mentioned.

qlawdat wrote:I was just wondering if there were any ways to become incorporeal. As a Wizard you can cast gaseous form. That's probably the easiest way at lower levels.
Gaseous Form does not make you incorporeal. It's very similar, but incorporeal beings can enter objects while Gaseous Form transforms you into a mist capable for passing through small cracks.
(Same applies to Dust Form)
A level 13 Psychic with the Formless Adept archetype can become incorporeal for a small number of rounds (3 + Charisma modifier) per day.
