Grrrr - Missed an important phone call 2 hours ago - waiting for a call back now. Need positive waves/blessings that it is good news.

Are you talking about the SUBSAFE program? I know that program. I showed a video about it to all of my employees to emphasize the importance of making sure our parts conformed to all specifications.

That was an amazingly effective video. (and sad too.)

Do you like pulled pork bbq?

After over a year of trying, I've finally managed to book a show. I'm going to be sharing a basement stage with three of the biggest indie/punk bands in Syracuse. The show is in three days. Consider me terrified.

You knock 'em dead Shiny. (then AZ can NOM! on their bodies).

I hope everyone will have a good day. And much as it's the mid-point in the working week with the up-tick to the weekend, it will be for those FaWtL that need it; turning the corner in their searches - whether for employment, love, health, happiness or just feeling more positive.

Congrats Shiny! That's really good news, and don't be nervous, just pretend you're jamming for the kids in my living room. :P

I would come if I could. Go for it shiny!

Gratz dude. Good luck.

Yep. My wife is the director of the program here in Philly. And it was probably the same video we were showed yesterday. What's more, there's an older employee here in Philly who was actually crew on the follow-up sister boat to THRESHER. She might try and get him to speak next year.

If the wife and I ever get out of Philthadelphia, and down to Houston, I keep saying that the only thing I'd really miss is my gaming/drinking buddies.

Luckily, I'd have plenty of replacements for them.

The words "...and that's a true story" often escape my lips. And most of the time, they are true.

Scarab Sages

And that's a true story.

I was speaking with our intern yesterday, and he informed me he doesn't drink. WTF?!?

A 20-something who doesn't drink? Something is very wrong here.

Scarab Sages

Needless to say, my trust in him dropped precipitously.

Scarab Sages

But at least that's one more bottle of mead I won't have to give away.

Two actually, because my good buddy over in the air code said he didn't want one either. Clearly, something is wrong with him.

Which is funny because it's usually the guy who does drink whose personality changes depending on sobriety level ;) At least if old sitcoms have taught me correctly.

I plan to catch up on the goings-on here this afternoon. :)

In the meantime, I've got Flash's new shield and a couple of monsters for your enjoyment/amusement/bafflement/what-have-you:

New Shield!

Field Phantasm

Giant Parasitic Wasp

Chaos Mouse

Minotaur of the Sea

I'm going to use that wasp in my games as a major threat to any Aranea or Arachne PCs.

travel to, say, Germany?

Sadly, no. Since I am working on retirement accounts, they are entirely dependent on US tax codes. Domestic travel only.

Got some more shopping done yesterday. I went to Macy's to check out suits and overcoats, and they had a rack of wool overcoats that they were in the process of putting away for the season. I snagged a London Fog overcoat at 50% off. Sweet. I won't have a use for it until the winter, but that coat would cost a whole lot more if I waited until Fall to buy it.

Then spent most of the day outside after the shopping was done. A great day off, even if a busy one.

I still think you need to find the drink that's right for you. Wine and mead offer so much variety, I'm sure you'll find something you enjoy. In moderation of course.

It's not about enjoyment. It's a combination of religious reasons and a dislike of any loss of control, no matter how minor.

There are US army/air force bases in Germany & the UK.... with plenty of Servicemen.

Same. I had a near-panic attack just from the early tingly/dizzy feeling of laughing gas. That kind of thing is a phobia for me.
