And....WOOT!! Got my Hero Lab onto the new computer and working properly. Their customer service rocks!
Last night I made up three dwarven characters for the Wednesday night game I'm joining. It's using PF rules, but set it FR. Luckily, I have plenty of material covering both.
It'll be a rotating DM job, so eventually I'll get to run...something...for them. Might convert the Yuan Ti to PF and use them. Maybe the Shades as well.
You might want to look at Serpent Kingdoms.

I testified before the Colorado House Judiciary Committee.
Participating in the committee process very much reminds me of the old saying, "If you like sausage or respect the law never watch either one of them being made.".
I left the house before 0700, and I got back around midnight.
It's incredibly depressing to see the process in action.

2,078 new posts? No one has time for that.
I just hopped on long enough to read an informative post by Sebastian on how to craft effective paragraphs. Hope you're doing well, folks that I don't get to encounter on bookface. :)
Now back to my perfunctory rule 34 Pinterest feed.
Urizen!!! Howdy! :)

Oh yes, I was perusing it last night.

Partly. Also, since she was staying home for the day, the wife said she'd at least take the boy to daycare. So that saved me some time right there.
But, yeah, me driving vs her driving means we get there sooner.

When they invited me, I right away got it in my head to play a dwarf fighter. I told them this. They said that was cool. Then one of them suggested maybe I'd want to look at playing a ranger. I said I'd think about it.
I have two Wizkids PF dwarf minis - the dwarf fighter and Harsk. I planned to roll up characters based on each one. I did so. Also rolled up a dwarven cleric, just for s*+$s and giggles.
I mentioned all this in an email to the guys. Since then they've gone bat s~!% annoying telling me how to optimize the character, and that maybe I should go with the ranger, and use these weapons, and take these feats, oh and change him to human since that works better.
After awhile, I just stopped responding to their emails. They continued on merrily for awhile back and forth to each other, making sure to at least CC me.
They've stopped for now. But, good lord, it made me almost reconsider participating.
Oh no, I'll play. If nothing else, I'll at least get to drive them into fits with my non-optimized character.

That sucks. I like optimizing, but I'm really cautious about helping another player optimize, and I always start with the question "What do you want to play? How do you picture this character? What sorts of things do you want them to be able to do?". As the optimization continues (only with the player's expressed interest), I revisit that occasionally to make sure we're not getting off topic.
We have a new player in our group that not only wants to tell people their build isn't optimized and how to super optimize (like, Char Ops board optimize), but tries to tell us we shouldn't play the character we want to play because he wants us to do something else. I was explaining my favorite character type, and he kept telling me it wasn't my favorite character type. It was very unpleasant. He's supposed to be at the game tonight, and if he gets in my face again, I'm dropping out of the group. It's just not worth every single conversation turning into a fight. uuuuuuuuugh.

some of the most amazing role playing moments I have had have been with an unoptimized character. I just made the best of the scores I had and went in a different direction. It was interestingbbecause the character was paired with the optimized guy at the table. By the time the campaign wasover l , we walked away with a new respect for each others play style, as we had to work together to make the game work (We were part of eachothers back story).

There's GoodOps and there's BadOps. That's a BadOp. Guy is going to need, at the very least, a swift and stern "SHUT UP" I imagine. Sorry your gaming isn't turning out fun, Jess.
I did end up having to go that route once. Turns out he likes that, I found out, and considers engagement an invitation to start more arguements.
I really want to give this game a chance. the DM is a cultural anthropologist, and my character is cool. She's a super unoptimized paladin. I'm planning to be the party healer, so she's really only going to take extra lay on hands and a couple of mercy / healing boosting feats. She's almost all charisma, with just enough of everything else to keep her from being irrelevent. I picture her, personality-wise, as being like Beowulf, though her battle prowess, unless fighting evil, isn't going to be super. Her smite should be pretty awesome, though, with all the charisma I have going on. And she's otherwise the party face.
She's not optimized, but she's the character I wanted to play. And I hope I get the chance to play without having the game ruined.

If she's doing what you want her to, successfully and efficiently, and you're having fun with playing her, that's op enough for me.
Sad that this guy can't understand that, but some people get too wrapped up in the numbers.

I was going to meet up when it was on the weekend, but then their flights were delayed, and they could only meet on a weekday. This is my week from hell at work, so there was no way I could get away. I was sorry not to have been able to join up.

I slept eight hours last night with only one interruption (to let the dogs out). And we went grocery shopping last night, so was able to cook a sensible, light breakfast and start some soups cooking for lunch.
It's odd: I do not have heartburn, I'm not tired, and nothing really hurts. This may be what is known as 'feeling good'.

That sounds, vaguely familiar,... I've actually gotten to sleep in a little myself this Mardi Gras break
I mean, Yay for feeling good! :)
OTOH,... I wouldn't get too used to it if I were you. It never lasts.
At least, not for me. ;P

I find that starchy foods give me worse heartburn than greasy food. Have you noticed that? It was counterintuitive to me, as I always thought of breads and pastas as fairly inert. YMMV.

Interesting CH. I actually find that it's not the starchy foods, but the SAUCE that I smother them with, that tends to give me a late night run to the TUMS bottle. ;P
EDIT- I also find that drinking a glass of wine (usually red, but white works too) with said sauce (especially spaghetti sauce) tends to take core of any lingering discomfort. ;)

Since a bout of pancreatitis and a cholecystectomy, ingesting lipids exacerbates my pyrosis.

I was an AV tech for a LOT of conventions, including a lot of medical conventions, for over 12 years. AND I have nurses on both sides of my family. And I only understood 4 out 5 of those words! ;P
The Eldritch Mr. Shiny

One other question: I desperately need a change of internet username. "The Eldritch Mr. Shiny" is way too long and complicated, and it's been my online handle for the better part of a decade. I'm in the process of drawing up business cards and getting a professional website, and I really need something memorable. The sticking point is that pretty much all permutations of my name are already taken (I share a name with a professional basketball player, a high-profile corporate lawyer, and an Irish politician). Does anyone have any ideas?
