Yeah that Lestat movie with Aaliyah was eminently forgettable.
Indeed. Sad thing is, I used to love the Anne Rice books. Even went to one of her public Halloween parties one year. I dressed as a priest - it was awesome. People kept coming up to take pictures with me.
Anyway, then a few years back, Rice got into some big stink with Al Copeland, the owner of Popeyes Fried Chicken, because he bought a refurbished a building she liked and had written into one of the Lestat books. She acted like a f&~!ing child during the whole fiasco. I haven't read any of her stuff since.

I liked her original trilogy, then she kinda got all Mary Sue about Lestat. Writers should never fall in love with their protagonists, it leads to sloppy writing. =/
Then there was her pretentiousness, which showed in all of her interviews. I really believe she thought she was the Greatest Writer Evar.
Then there was her conversion to Christianity, and then her Unconversion to Christianity, both of which I felt were awfully self-serving. I may not be Christian, but damn, if you're gonna convert to a religion and back out again, don't treat it like changing politics.
Yeah, and most of the books I read after were drecky. Some of the vampire bios were OK. Pandora I remember kindly.

I have a legion of old MMO buds screaming at me to get into SWTOR. But, it's kinda like having recruiters after you in high school. Join my server! We have an awesome guild forming and it's soooo kewl!
Thing is, I loved the first two Old Republic games. Had them for my Xbox. I was stoked when I heard this new one was coming out. But no single player = blergh.

Zombeh, it gets better, but sideways better. The problems are different at every stage. I enjoy my 'Kid is in college and living outside the house' stage. We get along great now =D

Yes it does. I remember waking one morning with a strange feeling of being rested. At first, I couldn't put my finger on what was different. Then it dawned on me, it was the first time in 18 months that I slept through an entire night without waking up.
I swear I think my three boys had a schedule of who was going to be the one to wake us up each night.
Edit: Plus they eventually grow up and become your GM.

Rule Zero dude. My game, my rules, I am God.
That being said, perhaps they would be willing to compromise a bit on their character envisionment. If not, then you have to ask yourself whether their inclusion in your game will lead to fun or constant arguments.

I say new guy as in he was hired 3 months ago. This week boss is up in Boston with his girlfriend, and this guy has been late everyday.
Wed: 45min late, Thur: 20min late, Today: 10min late BEFORE he calls to tell me he's going to be another 30min.
I'm getting tired of calling the customers and telling them we're going to have to reschedule them on account of this douche.

New group not sure yet. I just want a bit of a consistent background and right now I don't want to pull the Asian bit.
I ran across this issue a bit in the military. I was running a real Tolkeiny-themed old skool 2e game and a guy wanted the full anime package. We went back-and-forth and I allowed him to do it, but I specified that he was a far traveller and far removed from his culture. That way the onus of shoehorning a Mythical-Middle-Kingdom and a Kama-Nihon next to the Wilderlands and faux-Gondor didn't fall on my shoulders. I needs my versimilitude to function properly as a GM.

Thank you.
Meet and greet and game set up tonight. Rough idea is the old necromancers game mod wizards amulet/crucible of Freya, mainly because I have and have ran it before and it is more than a bit sandboxy. I am however going to place the game in the land of the linnorm kings halfway betwixt Kalsgard and Trollhiem, with the name of the town renamed to Winterhaven. I think it is a good set up and a nice intro to Golarion without using every damned option. Sometimes less is more.

As do I. I even have a list of old school german and russian names to hand out to the players. The same ones I will use for all NPC's. If I need any suggestions I might hit up Aeglos as well.

Good old exchange follies. I put $100 CDN in a saving account in Canada in 2003 (which was about $60 USD at the time). They insisted I take it out last year because of inactivity (I never moved up there as I was flirting with then). It had grown due to exchange rate fluxuations and the healthy rate of return at the bank over eight years to $560 USD 0.o

Fire him. Once is a bad day, twice is poor timing, three times is a pattern, more than that... Like I said, fire him. He is being paid to not only work, but to be there on time. There are plenty of people who want / need a job and are willing to do good work and be there on time. Get someone who cares about the job. Plus, as everyone else said, his being late affects more than just him.

Here, I must stand up for my perpetually tardy brother. Late people unite! If you're going to fire someone for being late, fire yourself did well whenever you are, otherwise it's favoritism! Speaking more seriously, my always running late is apparently another sign of dyscalculia. I still wonder...

Jude is sleeping through the night, most of the time. Not last night, but he is cutting teeth 13, 14, and 15 for sure (I assume 16 is in there somewhere). So yes it does get better. Of course now that he is running, it takes more effort to watch him. :)
