Someone who's laughing their head off.

Apparently my pants also go *plop*.

No doubt Khyron is to blame.

I have gone quite mad due to lack of Macross.

That said, people have been waiting DECADES for this to be available legally.

I will not encourage piracy here, but I will note that the lack of legal options will make piracy a lot more attractive.

Lunar is coming to Steam. A very important game for a young Freehold. The irony that I am posting the dubbed version speaks volumes

I found the original opening holy crap. Even more dubbiness.

The original.

The ORIGINAL original.

Lunar is one of those games I missed out on due to not having the right console growing up, and that I've never gotten around to playing through other means. It'll likely be a quick purchase.

I cannot recommend it enough. Please enjoy.

I think I still have my discs for Lunar, but somehow never got through it. Might have to pick up the Steam version to fix that.

I cannot pronounce 'caramelised'. I have to spell it out syllable by syllable, otherwise it sounds like someone rinsing their mouth out with blancmange.

I might have subscribed to MoonJune Records to get all of their releases...Soft Machine, Tony Levin, Markus Reuter, Wingfield, Gary Husband, a bunch of obscure jazz fusion groups ranging from Italy to Indonesia...good stuff.

It's a grand source for new jazz, that's for certain (and they seem to be reissuing the later Soft Machine albums, too)

What are the odds that their "intricate water feature" is a small pond with a tiny fountain in it? What's that? The tiny fountain is slightly off-center for aesthetic reasons? Ooo, fancy.

Imagine: Two tiny fountains.

So close! It was actually a small fountain that flows off 3 sides into tiny ponds. All perfectly centered.

Which, to be honest, wasn't THAT intricate (I was doing that the first show I helped set up in Seattle).

So, Drejk, how far are you in Elden Ring?

What kind of character you building?

Favorite weapon? Spell? Spirit summons? Boss?

I am standing at the Drainage Channel, fuming at the very thought of going through those !@#$%^&*()+ knights, getting close to have my ass handed to me by Malenia.

I also burned the tree and reached the crumbling azula or what-is-it called, and I am shortly before Mogh.

Mage

ca. 80-85 Int (depending on headwear and talismans), 25 Faith, 16 or so Arcane, 16 Str, 12 End, closing to 50 Vigor (48? something like that)

Quote:
Favorite weapon?

Mainly spells so the staff I got from Rennala - after so many tries, though occasionally I pull out Darkmoon Greatsword for backstabbing/slashing enemies I feel I can take on, or when I know I won't have time to finishc asting, though I occasionally switch to some holy sword to deal with skeletons, or back to Moonveil which I used for melee most of the game before getting.

This complemented with a carian knight shield occasionally switched to fundamentalist seal when I need to cast a prayer or two (it has Int scaling), and horn bow (again, Int scaling).

The staff, both moon swords, and seal are maxed to +10.

Quote:
Spell?

Very vanilla set of night comet and rock sling for bosses, with occasionally playing with things like cannon of Haima (nice aoe against weaker enemies plus knockback - I had killed some really annoying enemies by stunlocking them), frenzy fire (I think that's how it is called - it's a very long range ray of madness fire.

Spirit summons?

I used banished knight Engvall for a long time, until I got dung eater ashes, and now I am mostly using Black Knife Tiche... I struggled for so damn long to defeat her that I intend to milk her for every drop of blood of mine she has spilled - it will be a very long time.

Flu A and Strep are ripping through my school this week.
Yesterday, I started the day with 5 children out and sent home 5 more with fever and lethargy over the course of the morning. Then I got sent home with a fever, too.
Today, a quarter of our faculty and support staff are out (including me and my assistant), and TWO-THIRDS of the students in my class (17 of 26). I have a sub there with nine children.
And, yes, I DID get my Flu, Covid Booster, and Pneumonia shots last month.
And I clean and sanitize my classroom three time a day myself because I don't trust the cleaning crew.

Wow... I've seen classes get hit hard before, but that's the worst I've ever heard. I know that kids are basically vectors, but 17/26 is just... wow...

(One of my favorite sayings back in my teaching days was, "The only thing more unsanitary than a 5-year-old is an 18-year-old.")

lisamarlene wrote:

And unfortunately, 2 of those 3 (flu and COVID) are rated as, "These won't save you, but they'll reduce the symptoms." And I'll say, after two years in a row of serious bouts with the flu (103+°F fevers for 4-5 days at a time), I started getting flu shots, and although I've gotten sick, I haven't had a fever break 103°F since.

Personally, I'm dealing with a mild sinus infection, but considering my manager is at this moment scheduling surgery to repair damage caused by an untreated sinus infection, her entire reaction to my requests for sick time is, "TAKE MORE!!!"

And...

It was anticlimatic...

Yes, she killed me on the first fight because of a cheap trick - her introductory animation moves the PC to the center arena, within the range of her first combo, so she killed me because I wasn't holding shield block (or dodged in a right direction) immediately when the animation ended.

The second attempt was... Maybe not a complete cake-walk, she put me near death a few times (and if I haven't been investing in Vigor for the last few levels, she would definitely got me), basically depleting all four of healing potions I had prepared, but otherwise, Tiche, with some help from my slung rocks massacred her.

It would be completely different if I was melee, as I would fail to block/parry/dodge her attacks in direct melee slashfest...

Oh, she dropped over 500k runes? That will be, like, two levels, or so!

Meh. Still no sale for Shadow Of The Tree... :/

I've been losing my mind over getting this forensics meet prepped, and it's a nightmare. Kids aren't finding enough judges, but worse, I don't have enough entries to actually run any events. It's looking more and more like I need to reschedule it. And rescheduling anything on a high school calendar...

I was fortunate my first time I defeated her I happened to summon Let Me Solo Her and we were able to get her in a corner and wailed on her.

My first playthrough I went with strength mage. Since then I've discovered the joys of faith based spells and arcane and dexterity based weapons.

One of my weaknesses is I'm incapable of min-maxing so all my characters tend towards punitivly balanced.

Funny thing about Tiche (haha) is there's a spot if you're welding a shield and dagger you can get her stuck in that spot and just block her with the shield and slowly whack her health bar down.

My go to weapons are usually Bloodhound Fang and the Black Knife, also a huge, huge fan of Malenia's sword (it's special move counts as a long jump so no running off ledges for me) and Blasphemous Blade you get from Rykard and the Polearm of the Bud from the DLC.

I didn't pick Malenia's word, because its requirement is far beyond my Dex (I might still get it if there is another walking mausoleum with a bell, I am not sure if used all of them or not), I am not sure if I have Bloodhound Fang. I think I have the Black Knife, and I certainly have Blasphemous Blade, though I have to rearrange talismans and helmet to actually use it.

I wouldn't mind self-appointed gatekeepers nearly so much if they actually did their jobs.

(Yes, yes. Yet another example of, "Show up to work on time. When you're at work, do your job," making you the Best Employee Ever.)

I have four projects in the pipeline, representing at least a month's work, and probably more. Neither my manager nor I want to put any more work on me until I've knocked off at least a couple of these projects.

However...
...a few months ago, the first such training I was asked to produce turned out to be on a feature that was undergoing massive changes. So it was literally,
Curriculum Development: Here's our new training on the new feature!
Product Manager: No! You can't release that now! We're totally rewriting that feature next month!
CD: OK... (had a minor scramble to rewrite all the content for the new version of the feature)

So the PM mandated that we could not produce ANY content without her permission.
And now I'm sitting here twiddling my thumbs because not one, not two, but FOUR projects are sitting in her lap, waiting for her to OK, and she's "too busy because I'm traveling right now" to OK any of them.

Um... when you reach the point that I can't do my job AT ALL because you chose to be a roadblock, you don't get to use "too busy" as an excuse any more. YOU explicitly blocked ME from working without your say-so. You don't get to then not let me work at all because you're "too busy".

AD and I made the call this morning to cancel next week's meet due to low registration — pretty much entirely blizzard-induced due to everyone losing the first week of school and prep/practice time — and look for a date to reschedule. I sent out the email first thing this morning and felt like crap.

Literally every reply on the chain has been incredibly supportive and understanding. "I'm so sorry!" "That's unfortunate; let us know the new date." "That happened to me last year. Don't worry about it."

Debate and forensics are stressful as hell, but the community is so worth it.

I am slowly running out of things to discover in Elden Ring and getting too close to the end... :/

Of course not counting all the things I have missed.

OK. I'm bemused.

After railing multiple times about people hoarding toilet paper for no particular reason, I find myself guilty of same.

Politics (mostly) aside, Mr. Trump takes office on Monday, and has promised to implement significant across-the-board tariffs. No matter how prepared businesses think they are, I believe this will lead to shortages of staples in late January and early February until the markets adjust.

So, I was at Costco this morning, we needed to resupply on our toilet paper, and I thought, "Oh, this is going to get stupid next month. I'd better buy two."

Thus, I have now personally "hoarded" toilet paper by buying two Costco packs instead of one. And considering that a Costco pack is 30 rolls, it's a LOT of toilet paper...

EDIT: Costco also had cage-free eggs at $3.85/dozen, which is a wee bit better than the $9.99/dozen for the "cozy" high-end eggs at Andronico's.

OK. I'm sitting here making fun of $10/dozen eggs that advertise that they put hand-knit sweaters on their chickens in cold weather...

...and then GothBard started cooking with them and said, "Holy crap! Where did you get these eggs? They're the best eggs I've ever seen! These are like, 'all those things the chefs tell you to look for in good eggs' eggs! We need more of these eggs!"

A rare case of apparently getting what we're paying for...

How much extra do you have to pay for the eggs to have sweaters on too?

We did groceries this weekend as well, and have our delivery meal service for two meals a week. At least for a little while we're covered.

Granted that means by the time we do run low, the prices will have already cranked up... but what're you gonna do....

Limeylongears wrote:

If they did that I'd go broke because GothBard would insist on buying ALL of them...
