Ha! Now they're doing Chocolate Babka, which was one of my strengths when I was a baker.
Chocolate croissants and chocolate babka are both things I love, but almost never buy in a bakery, because too often, they scorch the chocolate and the whole thing tastes wrong, and I don't want to spend the money on a treat and then end up disappointed.
Eve's only response when I told her that was to say, "Well THAT'S f***ing stupid."
Eve is usually right.
And clothed. Both of us, fully clothed.

Gee... use the words "legal" and "waiver" and whatnot and suddenly they're VERY happy to bill you...
They switched to "smart meters" that report usage back to the powers-that-be without the inconvenience of hiring human beings to actually go out and, y'know, read the meters.
So I'm sure the meter was still measuring how much gas I was using, it just wasn't reporting that number to the proper authorities.

Just give the hill giant some gazelle horns.
I certainly don't sing it these days, nor was it a main theme for a game of ours, that's for sure.

We're watching The Great British Baking Show, it's chocolate week.
The General is screaming at everyone for the terrible, terrible things they're doing to brownies.
I'm pretty sure I remember the episode you are talking about. It was hilarious. One of the contestants even commented something to the effect of, "I am sure every viewer at home is yelling at their TV that they could have made better brownies than we did."

Hmmm... Russet mold growing on cacao plants makes better "brownies"?

Ah. That one. When the water meter in the cellar will be replaced in a year or two, it should end being one of those - though those used around here still require guy walking around - the radio signal used is suppsedly reaching only few dozen meters yards.

Nope. For all relevant purposes, they are just regular rose bushes.

We've loaded up on snacks and will secede control of the house to the kids for the evening a bit later because apparently the General has signed us up for an erotic film festival and got some sort of lotion or something which will go well with [redacted] which I got her from Victoria's Secret the other day.
Take that deep freeze!

Those festivals are a thing?
I don't like the idea of watching that around other people who are not my partner.
I have no idea how porn theaters were a thing before the internet. Nobody wants a Paul Ruben event.

It's all virtual no one else except the two of us. The General was very specific about that.

Unfortunate. The film festivals I went to were always full of interesting people, even if the films themselves were kinda dull.

Yes, I know that I'm very early. Pittsburgh is expecting sleet and snow, so I took a taxi.
I just got done brewing a pot of hot tea using the coffee maker.
It will, because I'm also taking a taxi home.

Well, I am sadness.
The owner of the wonderful corner store finally retired, and he assured us that the store would "keep right on going the way it always has".
Except apparently this time instead of passing it on to a family member, he sold the store to another family. Immediately, the entire staff was gone, replaced by new staff.
It's a really, really bad sign when a new owner's first act is to get rid of all the old employees (or whether the old employees' first act is to leave instead of working for the new owners). In a good takeover, I as a customer barely notice any change, because the new owner keeps on at least some of the old staff to help train the new staff in how things are "supposed to work" at the store. When Safeway bought out Andronico's, for the first few months it was the same product and the same staff, and Safeway took the time to figure out what was selling and making a profit and what wasn't before the inevitable transition to shelves full of inedible, "Ssfeway Select Food-Like Synthetics" products.
When the entire staff is gone in under two weeks after the transition, you're pretty sure you're in for a rough ride. I just hope I don't have to start shopping at Andronico's if the corner market goes too far downhill.

It is =9 where I am right now. I have the heat in the house fully cranked to 72. One of my girls asked if she could have a friend over this morning since they're in the same class together, I said sure.
I started noticing it was getting even colder in the back den where I'm working right now. I go to the front door; my almost 17 year old daughter is standing at an OPEN doorway, the wind (that feels like its like -30) wafting right in. She's wearing no coat, no shoes, a t-shirt and bundling her arms together. "Man, it's SO cold out there!" she grins.
Needless to say, the door is now closed and my daughter waited for her friend instead on the living room couch. Sometimes I really question my kids' sanity, then my own.

What if it's being converted to a food co-op, the new owners are actually an extension of a hippie commune and the produce at the new store will be as fresh as if it was just harvested in the parking lot? Maybe the new folks all left b/c they didn't like how, b/c of the low overhead, the commune folks are actually going to LOWER prices but then wouldn't be able to afford current salaries. The hippies offered to make up the difference in fresh food surplus and hugs, but the old employees left anyway
…
I mean, if Freehold can control the weather, MAYBE this could happen...

I used to do that. It gave me a real appreciation for the cold.

According to Citron, during the development process, he noticed how difficult it was for his team to work out tactics in games like Final Fantasy XIV and League of Legends using available voice over IP (VoIP) software. This led developers to develop a chat service with a focus on user friendliness with minimal impact to performance.
So it arose from the need to solve the discord in team chats.
