It's that time of year again. "What do you mean, you won't have a glass of wine?"
"Well, when ARE you going to start drinking again?"
"I'm just getting tired of you being unwilling to have a drink once in a while. It's really hurtful."
It's amazing how important society has made:
(1) Drinking, and
(2) Giving gifts.
Giving up both is amazingly liberating. Dealing with people who refuse to respect your life choices? Not so much.

There's a 1,000+ response thread that's been going several weeks, which is essentially two postions:
A) This is a complete, polite conversation
"Would you like this (gift, buff, poison)?"
"No, thank you."
"Ok"
and
B) It's not a complete conversation until I've decided that your reasons are acceptable to me.
"Would you like this (gift, buff, poison)?
"No, thank you."
"Why not?"

In this day and age, I feel like they also have to be willfully stupid to not recognize the nature of addiction.
Also, HAPPY TURKEY DAY EVERYONE!!!

I love drinking. I love people drinking with me. But it is up to you what you drink in your glass. Why is that so hard?

Drejk wrote:Sadly, Shadow Of The Tomb Raider is inferior to Rise Of The Tomb Raider. The graphics are goregeous (when they are not bugging) but the story and the characters are feeling more wooden and the combat and encounter design is much worse...
Have I mentioned it's also much buggier than the previous games?
Interesting. I'll ask Lara Croft guy about it. I have no idea what he's allowed to discuss and what he isn't, but companies' abandonment of any QA at all is a common theme we discuss, so he might shed some insight...
Graphics bugs are minimal - and include things that might not be bugs but certain omissions, deliberate or not, like some pieces of carried gear missing in certain animations/cut-scenes (which is weird primarily because of inconsistency with other animations that include that gear, a lot of games don't bother with rendering all the carried gear anyway). Otherwise it's primarily simple things typically involving Lara's hands and feets melding with the things she grabs/steps on.
Control bugs on the other hand are more common, often involving climbable walls failing to be properly interactive.
And there is a very common thing that might be a bug or might be a very stupid design - when preset camera angles in certain climbing sequences suddenly shifts - which also shifts the control scheme directions, and suddenly the button you were holding to direct your jump from the ledge, leads to you mortal fall instead.
I would probably complain a lot less if I hadn't been playing Shadow immediately after finishing Rise, which, while not as beautiful as the former, had better general gameplay, better combat, and better written story (also, I just got deeply disappointed by Darksiders 3).

I should totally pop on and respond to the Column B-ers: "So, in your choices my options are to:
(a) Drink, and risk re-addiction, or(b) Admit to complete strangers that I was an alcoholic for 10 years and can't even remember my kids' childhoods?
THAT is what you think proper etiquette requires?"

The option B people are absolutely and totally wrong. I am in no way, shape, or form required to explain my choices to them. I may choose to give some form of reason for my refusal of their offer, but am not obligated to do so. Who are they to get to decide that my reasons are "acceptable"?

I discovered yesterday that two of my friends had joined a Facebook group called Extreme Dishwasher Loading, where people take pictures of their dishwashers, prior setting them going, and everybody else says mm good job nice loading there your plates are lovely, etc. Seems odd to me, but I suppose it's harmless, if far from 'extreme'.

I can think of any number of possible responses. None of them are particularly kind or helpful.
I'm sorry.

It was so trippy.

Ah yes, the day after Thanksgiving, when co-worker and I casually build a wall while everyone else in the company buries themselves in the middle of a field, waiting for ducks, or something.
All I know is, I will treasure the memory of everyone huddled, unmoving, in the ghillie fort with only their heads poking out. And a crow sitting contently atop Bob Ross Captain's head.

My morning had a rare morning where the baby slept in. Accordingly, I put away the china and silver and finished scrubbing the roaster pan. A little painting this morning. Trying to finish my second mini in 3 years or so. Did a rack from wiz kids and now trying to finish this kobold from Reaper (I think. Maybe an old Ral Partha). My week away from work flew by without much relaxation I am afraid. Ah well.

that strikes me as so strange.

I'm building a wall with marble blocks, needless to say, I'm loving it.
It's time for us to help you design a "Master Mason" mark that you can include on all the edifices you build.
Just one small design that generations from now, people can use to identify the works of "unknown mason from Wisconsin". Just like a silver or goldsmith mark, but in stone.

I love this idea.

Second Highlander salvaged!
There were two Highlanders in that hard mission (two heavy/assault lances against my one, the amount of long range missiles the second lance were sending from behind the hills toward me was staggering), but I managed to headshot only one, the other died to excees torso damage before I could behead or deleg it properly.
Now I am aiming for a full Highlander lance, lead by my Star League-grade Highlander.
On the other hand, other Highlanders can't sport gauss rifles, so maybe I will try to use something else for the fourth slot, just to use that second gauss I bought for tons of C-bills.

So for now, the three Highlanders are complemented by a Banshee that happened to have a single ballistic slot, a missile slot, and a lot of energy weapons.
It worked fine in its first mission, though I wonder if I should replece the gauss rifle with AC/20... At the moment none of my main mech complement is using ACs. A few lighter were on Battlemaster and Stalker, which I just phased out of line duty (they are still active in hangar, just in case) after getting the Highlander and Banshee active.

Yeah I might have to give it another go.
I've done editing for this, which mostly consisted of layout/formatting/sourcing art.
Altough it would probably be an exelent motivation to really dive into afinity publisher.
I cant do editing in the sense of making sure your grammar is correct.
Your making me feel motivated to work on it too. I think I'll see what I can do in the next few weeks and I'll message you.

And the campaign is finished. Kamea regained her throne, I got her Atlas II... That's probably the end of dreams about all Highlander lance.
The final fight was annoying...
What's worse, I got no chance to salvage even a part of Victoria's King Crab, nor any of its superior weaponry :(
