Apparently not.

It's pretty humbling to work with marble.

The boss, co-worker, homeowner and the designer are all super happy with it but I can't help but think it could be better.

And today I got a chisel attachment for our hammer drill, which was a lot more fun than I thought it would be, which is pretty impressive because I expected a lot of fun to begin with.

Question of the Day: Can you think of any product in any industry that has been improved by being bought out?

GothBard's pretty unhappy about Slack being bought out by SalesForce (my opinion: How could they make it any worse?), and it got me to thinking. At the moment I can't think of a single buyout that went even decently.

Rebuttals?

I would argue 3e was better than 2e.

American army was bought by epic. Not sure how much changed and mike capps transitioned from aa to epic chief.

Chrysler got access to german tech after they got bought.

Marvel bought by disney???

Lucas bought by disney??

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.

Well, it did get us The Mandalorian, so I guess it wasn't a total loss.

Rogue one pretty good imo. Mandolorian. Conclusion of clone wars cartoons.

But i realize not everyone would agree so i did flag with my ????

Very true.

I'd agree on 3e and Marvel as well. I have no idea/input/opinion on the other two as I'm not familiar with them.

Rogue One is my favorite Star Wars movie of all time. Love the Spacegetti western. And Star Wars fans in general have incredibly selective memories with respect to things pre Disney.

Love 3e and various iterations, but I wanted 2.75 to finish what it was doing too. Then again as intricate as it was it was very heavily going in a Starship Troopers direction.

We got 20th anniversary editions of WOD games from Onyx Path.
[Except for Hunter. Which irks me to no end.]

I did not like Rogue One, what little I saw of it.

I've seen the first two episodes of the Bobba Fett's Nanny 911, it had a few good parts but I couldn't really follow what was going on besides reminding everyone that Carl Weathers is a national treasure.

Electrician: Holy s@!$, you guys are still working!

Co-worker: Yeah, this crazy bastard doesn't know when to stop

Me: Having the winter off work loses it's luster when you realize the entire family is schooling or working from home.

I wont defend it too hard. I do believe that the franchise is better off under disney than remaining in lucas’s hands. They may not hit every cylinder or have the legs of original trilogy but overall i am ok with being free to tell stories outside the skywalker family.

Co-worker: Why do I get the feeling that if I drive out here on a sunny day in January I'll find you working

Me: That's exactly my plan!

Not to be That Guy, but wasn't their last movie called The Rise of Skywalker?

Wash your hands? What a weird idea...

Lucas bought by disney??

1) Yes

2) Eh. Chrysler bought by Daimler was an initial boon for Chrysler, then they found out they weren't equal partners, and were then sold to Cerberus and off on their own and now owned by Fiat. And they're *still* using that 12-yr-old Mercedes E-Class platform for the Charger, 300, and Challenger. Fiat has no idea what to do with Chrysler/Dodge. The only thing Dodge knows how to do at this point is "Hellcat EVERYTHING!"

3) Yes. Very much so.

4) On the overall, I'd say yes. Also Lucas used those billions from the sale to save a lot of old movies from being lost.

Some others I'll toss in:

Volvo bought by Geely. Volvo has never been better.

Porsche and Lamborghini saved from extinction by VW.

Disney bought Pixar. (It stuns me that Disney owning these money printing machines is a net positive.)

Dell and EMC is probably going to work out quite well. Probably.

~sighs~ Way too many passwords.

This day was freaking insane.
The workmen (who turned out not to be licensed plumbers, but only some guys working for a GC) demolished our back deck, jackhammered our foundation (tsk tsk, what WOULD Hari Seldon say?) and removed a meter-long section of pipe leading to the hose spigot, turned our water back on, and left for the day.

Hermione and I went to a very empty theater after school where we did a quick masked tech rehearsal and then recorded less than half of the second act of the Nutcracker. Allegedly it will all get stitched together seamlessly in the final video.

I tought my Zoom lessons. Today was science, phonics, and art.

And I finally watched the first episode of The Mandalorian, mostly because my friend Rob at work said, "Seriously?!? You're not watching it just because WW got a cease and desist letter because he downloaded it? You of all people would love it."

And, yeah, I was surprised and happy that it did not suck.

About to go home. Good night, everyone.

Square-Enix buying out Quest gave us some great video games. Final Fantasy Tactics is a direct result of the makers of Tactics Ogre joining Square.

Bethesda scooping up Black Isle gave us Fallout 3 and 4. I don't know if they're objectively better than 1&2, but I'd say they're comparable overall and better in some ways but worse in others.

I haven't watched Mandalorian because after 11 movies, 2 cartoon TV shows, and countless videogames...not even counting the non-canon books and stuff I didn't know about... I'm Star Wars'd out. They have milked the cow dry for me.

Yeah Disney buying Lucas is a mixed bag but so far I have no complaints about the Marvel buyout except for maybe ironman 3.

FFtactics is 2nd favorite. depending on the day. for me it's 8, T, 7, etc.

We might of had this convo before.

That is how I feel about Zombie movies.

I edited cause I forgot rogue 1 and solo (I didn't care to watch either). So yeah. Even more!

Or were you tired of having to salute them with that weird palm-outward salute they use over there?

Both. Their were many arguments. "I will have my troops line up as I please woman!"

There their they're. I'm sure you'll get over it eventually.

It most definitely does not suck. If I knew you were not watching I would have proselytized to you the entire time.

Yes. You are correct. And having gotten that out of their system, they are free to explore other threads. Nanny 90210 being the first example. I get that it is not your thing but it is at least a break from the skywalker clan.

Whether they can maintain that break or make something with universal appeal is still to be determined i guess.

So the question is - is the having of 7-9, rogue one, solo and such better than lucas reprinting and remaking 1-6 a few more times?

I think yes.

But we can take it off my list and i wont cry.

Snip

My limited base for opinion. My 03 ram 2500 is a beast. Indestructible. My 13 2500 ram had problems. Sold it.

Chrysler was improved by the acquisition. The fact that it did not stick and has slid or stagnated since does not change the fact that they did get better post acquisition. Maybe not a +7 or even a +5 but at least a +3

They are the martial arts movies about Bruce lee's teacher. Their are 4 of them I think. I have seen 2 and enjoyed them.

I couldn't even tell you what Ip stands for.

It's his name. It's actually Ip man which makes him sound like a superhero I know. Which to that I can only say.. eh almost? Donnie yen was the blind monk force sensitive guy in rogue one. I feel like you're messing with me a little bit.

(Edit: had to keep doing sections on this one people kept interrupting me. come on people just because I work here doesn't mean I want ya'll bothering me. )

No, I honestly have no idea what or who you're talking about, or what any of these movies are.

I am genuinely clueless.

People can say "But, it's Donnie Yen! He was in a bunch of movies called Ip!" But unless you tell me what Ip stands for or provide a link I have no idea what you're talking about.
