For obvious reasons.

I know what I'm doing.

Representing the entirety of my department after the other two project managers went on the party In Breach Of Government Guidelines and couldn't/wouldn't come in as a consequence.

I saw a picture of grey-haired Pierce Brosnan with a cavalier goatee. He definitely should get back to Bond... Playing a villain.

It's not about how good you are. It's about how incompetent the others are.

Wooooow...

It's November.
- We haven't had measurable rain since August, and that was all of 0.04" (1 mm). (Before that our last rainfall was in May.)
- I'm opening the windows before 9:00 am every morning because it's already over 60°F (15.6°C).

This summer was the worst fire season in California's modern history. If we don't get a break, next season might be even worse. (On the other hand, I suppose if we get no rain at all for a year, it's not like anything will grow to burn.)

I am displeased with this development.

This is true, I spent five years Office Space-ing Toys R Us (going in when I felt like it, being purposely late every shift, being brutally honest with management, and only doing what I felt like, and I got bigger raises then everyone else there.

No one wanted to do the physical work or climb up s~%!, or get carts, or find the one hidden Bobba Fett figure that the inventory system says we have, somewhere.

So I filled the niche, I was also there in case anyone got unruly.

I still haven't been able to make it through the first couple of episodes of the Mandalorian.

It's 70 degrees today and sunny.

I am pleased.

Yeah, I'm kinda only holding onto my Disney+ for the Marvel stuff. Only, they keep pushing back Wandavision and Falcon & the Winter Soldier so the Mandalorian S2 can run out smoothly first

OK, new employees are cute.

Coming in all idealistic, writing about looking forward to "implementing vision" and "joining you all on our journey".

I give 'em 18 months to become as jaded as the rest of us.

And Impus Minor's English teacher gets even more points.

As I've mentioned, she's the only one who really understands how to implement online learning properly: "Here's the topic for the day in a 10-minute presentation. Here's your follow-up work for the session. Here's what I expect you to have done by the end. Here are your resources. And I'm here the whole time if you want help or have any questions."

And today she said, "I know that none of you are old enough to vote, but I know the election has you stressed out, and online learning isn't helping, so today you'll watch a 10-minute video, write a 1-paragraph essay, and take the rest of the time to just RELAX."

I really, really like her.

Back to yesterday's topic.

How can a list of top female vocalists not include this one?

Skáld Indeed!

This one is indubitably a spellsinger.

I note that I left off Heather Alexander from my list and since she was part of what set off the discussion, I feel somewhat remiss.

Will need to spend some time going down that copenhagen records rabbit hole.

If we are going folk - let me add Nolwenn to the list.

I have finished Crying Suns. Beautiful (in a 16-bit pixel art way) game that is an accumulated homage to SF classics - Asimov, Clarke, Dune (not that last is blatantly obvious from the start with the main character's surname being Idaho, duh). It plays on a lot of classic sf tropes and philosophical concerns.

Going back to 1920×1080 is weird on my eyes. Not to mention the width of the screen...

Yeah, either you become jaded and cynical or you burn out.

Nobody should say they are 'implementing vision' unless they are actually a cyborg activating their Z-Ray Gaze.

I just basically IM'ed my manager, "Yeah, I'm out of work for the week, so I'm going to be watching (relevant) TV all day tomorrow," and her response was, "Have fun!"

I love my manager.

Unfortunately, the "TV" is a 6-hour training session on our new product, so it's not exactly five star entertainment. But it is curling up in my cuddler with a giant mug for 6 hours and not thinking.

Vany's Work Story Time!

My company acts as the business office/billing department for a lot of different clients. A lot of them. Ranges from the medical field to your cell phone bill to your utility bills.

One of our phone reps, for reasons I never found out, gave out an internal phone number for our IT team in India to one of the customers of one of our energy company clients.

So now we have a recording of a customer talking to one of our IT guys in India about her electric bill.

This went about as well as can be imagined.

The IT guy really held it together very well. The customer completely lost her s#@& altogether.

Gah. GoG Galaxy doesn't want to install games for unspecified reasons. The install button is greyed out.

I could download Battletech from their website but it's a bad joke - the game split into multiple installer files, with multiple patch files.

The problem solved. Apparently the issue was with the default download location, after I changed it to something else from the initial setting, I could finally instal games.

Amusingly enough, no, they weren't Indian. One's from Central America and the other from South America. But yes, not from the U.S.

Great Moments in Parenting (Apparently potentially offensive):

Potentially Offensive:
NobodysHome: One of the things I feel my parents really did wrong was to have an attitude that giving your kids an inheritance is wrong. So my mother gave tens of thousands of dollars a year to charity so that we wouldn't inherit anything.

I'm not like that. You'll inherit plenty from me! So if you decide that you want your lifestyle to be giving handjobs to homeless men for dimes in Amsterdam, I'll support you in that.

Impus Major: My god, Father, that's the most inspiring speech you've ever given me! Right up there with, "I'm going to go hang out outside the women's prison and pick up girls!"

I have this RPG set during a zombie apocalypse called Dead Reign.

One of the classes in the core book is called Survivor and includes a table for rolling a random pre zombie apocalypse profession, every time I roll either Landscaper or Construction Worker.

I got a new book with a few new classes, one is called Wheelman and has a random table to see what kind of driving profession you had pre zombie apocalypse. Every time I either roll Construction Worker or Race/Stunt Driver.
