This is getting really stupid.
We're moving into November, yet for the next week we have highs from 70-80°F (21-27°C) and no lows below 49°F (9°C).
I'd like some kind of Autumn, please!
It's not unprecedented; I still remember when my brother came down from Seattle for Thanksgiving back in 1998 or 1999 and it was 80°F on our deck in late November. It's just unusual and means we can look forward to a horrific drought next year.
We're still living through 2020 and I'm already beginning to hate 2021...

Just popped onto Google's home page to do a search. First thing that appeared in my field of vision is a picture of Alan Alda; I couldn't see the headline. "NO!" I proclaim, out loud to nobody, thinking that something terrible had happened to this fine actor. I scroll down, it's a story about him speaking out about officials not valuing scientific advice.
It's been a while since I had a whole panic attack resolve itself in one second. Still trying to come down off the adrenaline spike while simultaneously humming the theme to M.A.S.H.

I'm not surprised. He was, after all, the host of a TV series, Scientific American Frontiers, from 1993 to 2005.

Fantasy NPC: Terrakhett-Nammar, a tiefling bastard, an unofficial healer at a decadent aristocratic court.
She is the last of healer(ish) NPCs for now.

Thank you for saving me from a similar moment of panic.

We've known this day was coming all year, but it's a little scary. He's been sending out resumes and applications like mad, though.
I've managed to squirrel a bit aside so we'll be okay for a little while, but he needs to get a new job soon.
Fingers crossed.
If you have a favorite way of sending hopeful thoughts out into the cosmos (prayer, chanting, good vibes, or tossing a virgin into the nearest handy volcano), that would be awesome. I'm not picky.

Would somebody kindly tell me what the f&ing f#@$ is going on here.
* Why wasn't the kappa's bass guitar plugged in beforehand?
* Why are they playing the 'Mission Impossible' theme tune?
* Is that a circular cat playing the drums, a doughnut with cat ears, or what?
* Why am I watching it?
EDIT: Why is the cat, or doughnut, or whatever, carrying around what looks like a plushie pickle at the end of the vid?

It is an apple that is possessed by the soul of a cat.
He's called Nyango Starr.
Because Japan.

I am starting a new Battletech playthrough that I am naming the Fawtl playthrough with each of the mechs names after posters.
No idea why this took so long.
Colors will be purple(for paizo), orange and black(for halloween).
You guys will be some gaudy robots.
If there is an Urbanmech, I would like to call dibs. I've always loved that stupid, useless, piece of s#%+.

Noted.
I have also gotten more kills with the Suburbanmech and MRM 30/RL variant than anything else.
Loved the Urbie as a part of a rear echelon mech killing force in Mechcommander 2. A pair of them with heavy autocannons or Gauss Rifles slowly making their way through the battlefield, killing anyone who survived the initial onslaught.

It's always interesting to look at workrules and try to figure out why a particular one got added.
In perusing the Careers section of Paizo.com, I noticed this new one
Must have the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at a high level of competence
Must have the physical ability to move/lift 50 pounds and the ability to stand for extended periods of time
Must have a moderate understanding of basic computer skills
Must be methodical and have a high attention to detail
Must be able to work in a team-centered environment, yet be able to finish tasks on your own
Must have good organizational skills, ability to manage time effectively
Must be able to multi-task and get up to date in a rapidly growing and changing entrepreneurial environment
Must have ability to keep confidential information secret
Must be self-motivated; Willingness to work hard and do whatever it takes to succeed in the job
I'd love to know the story behind that one. It's not usually one I see in warehouse floor positions.

Take a peek in the new rulebook that is on the shelves, waiting for its release date. Blab about it to your friends?

See, making them good also makes them less lovable, in my opinion. I fell for the old trashcan on legs, barely faster than a man on foot, junkpile with an autocannon (class 10, I think) and a small laser. I loved it because it was dumb.

Well, you can laugh at California's politics all you want, but at least we seem to have our voting all worked out.
As I mentioned, Impus Major and I voted by dropbox, and we both got email confirmations that our ballots were received, verified, and would be counted.
GothBard didn't trust even this level of reassurance and went in to do her early voting this morning. At 10:00 am on a Saturday. There was no line, there were only around half a dozen voters, and everyone was taking full COVID precautions. (The volunteers were even giving out free disposable gloves to all voters so they wouldn't touch anything.)
GothBard then got the choice: "Do you want a paper printout of your ballot or do you want to submit it electronically?" She did paper, and it printed out a confirmation of all her choices that she then put into a secure ballot box.
All painless, quick, and reassuring that all our votes are being counted.
If the most-populous state in the country can do it this smoothly... politics deleted...

This one would be my guess, having worked in two different businesses where getting access to names and addresses on a regular basis is a thing.

I went the first Friday after they opened early voting here. It was far from crowded, they gave us printed out sheets and clipboards with concealing slots for carrying the paper around the room, and the drop box was designed to allow said clipboards to hook in so you could slide the voting ballot in without it being exposed to view. There were maybe four people in the room total, with lots of space and separate voting booth areas. All in all, neat and orderly and no problems whatsoever.
Scint just voted by mail, but I couldn't do that since I don't have a KS driver's license yet.
