Yes, but I'm special. ;)
So you rode the short bus? ;)

Bleargh! Stayed home today with a sore throat and what seems to be the beginnings of a cold. Luckily, the doctors office had a cancellation and can fit me in at 3 this afternoon.
Otherwise, BRAIN CRAMPS!!
Actually, I've been feeling a bit of a tickle in the back of my throat today that I PRAY TO GOD is not the beginnings of something. I'm gonna pick up some theraflu on my lunch break.

I hurt today, probably because I played a 12 song set on drums outside yesterday.

Given the gene pool I crawled out of, I suppose that's not an unreasonable assumption, but that wasn't what I meant. I was speaking more in the 'special snowflake' sense. :)

And thank you for being there.

My son's best friend is home on leave from Iraq. His one tour is done. Doesn't look like he's re-upping when his service is done.
God Bless You All!

Back from the trip up north to see my dad. Got to stop along the way and hang out with Mac and his lovely wife for a bit. :)
Dad's house looks even more like it belongs on 'Hoarders' but we were able to find places to sleep eventually. It was a good visit, but I worry about him. He's obviously not taking very good care of himself.

Glad you had a good visit, but I'm sorry about your worries. My dad would be like that too, except for Mom. The man won't throw anything away.

Yeah, Mom couldn't ever keep my dad from keeping everything, but she at least made him box it up and take it out to the barn so it wasn't in the way. Since she died all the clutter and crap keeps migrating back into the house. And he's not eating right either. He's good about keeping to the low carb diet to keep the diabetes under control, but he doesn't eat very healthy things and not enough veggies. Sigh. I know he's a grown up and can make his own decisions, but I still worry.

After all that clutter I'm doing a second round of cleaning out closets this summer. I am bound and determined not to end up like that. Already got a couple bags of old clothes that I missed in the last clean-up. The funny thing is that all the stuff I'm getting rid of is still from years ago. I of course was brought up to never throw stuff away cause you might need it someday. Slowly but surely I have been breaking myself of that habit. :)

Also went to the thrift stores to buy the kidlet back to school clothes. Since he shot up a couple inches over the summer and now nothing fits. Again. Luckily, since I went so early I was able to get most of what he needs at the secondhand shops. It's funny because when we lived on the west side his clothes always looked so shabby compared to the other kids cause they weren't brand new and now that we live on the east side of town I've actually had people comment on how he's always dressed so nice. Same clothes, different mindset. :)

As I'm moving in the near future, I am going through something similar myself. It's daunting how much STUFF I've collected the last couple years. I moved here with what I could fit in my sedan. O.o And before that I left Japan with what I could fit in two suitcases (Oh, plus boxes of manga. Priorities, after all).
You'd think that would break of my pack rat tendencies...not so much. I'm now trying to get my belongings down to a managable level. >.<

The last few times we've moved we've needed a smaller U-Haul each time. And every time more of the space is taken by actual furniture and less by other junk. I am determined to continue this pattern. :)
Hopefully not moving in the near future though. I need another year at community college before I'm ready to transfer to a four year school. But with the textbook industry looking wobbly at best contingency plans and all that.Gruumash . |
How is everyone holding up?
Lynora I understand the pack rat thing and I am known for holding things for too long. Though my better half keeps me in check. She gives me the option says if this is important you have 1 week to go through it or at least pack it away, if it is in the same place in one week it goes.
I will say a pray and hope you need not move for a wile still, moving stinks.

Not sure yet. Still trying to figure out this 'unemployed' thing.
In the meantime -- New pictures are up if you are interested.
Enjoy.

That class is broken anyway. Breaks action economy way too much. It allows called-shot attacks before actual encounters start!

I'm in a bit of an opposite conundrum right now. We've added two new guys to our gaming group recently. I like them both, but they're a bit hammy, and finding the space to contribute to the roleplay without feeling like I'm interfering with their dramatic moments has been more...
Practically our entire group is made up of spotlight hogs and hammy roleplayers – I don’t know what a quiet or shy person would do in our group. As it is our newest player is louder and more of a spotlight hog than any of us in real life, but he has never played a pen and paper roleplaying game before, and doesn’t know quite how to get into the RP part. I hope we’re leading by example, but maybe it is just all a bit much for him.

I think the duct tape and baling wire is about to fail us...
Speaking of which, did anyone watch McGuyver back in the day? They are showing re-runs of it here during the day, and my partner caught part of an episode where McGuvyer appeared to be in mythical Arthurian Britain ... does not anyone know what was going on with that? Was it a dream sequence? Did McGuyver cobble together a time machine from duct tape, some old wire coat hangers and some plastic tubing?

I used to watch it, and though it has been a long time I believe the episode you are referring to was one of the last ones. IIRC, McGuyver get hit on the head and 'sent back in time' to rescue his own ancestor (or something like that). I remember the episode (vaguely) because it contained the big reveal...McGuyver's first name!
