No tea for me, unless I have a sore throat, then a minimal amount of tea is acceptable.

Three teabags per coffeepot is my preferred ratio. But I put the bags in the filter bowl rather than in the pot itself.

Pff. Newbs
I just pour my boiling water into my mouth and chew it with the tea.

Hey guys! I'm not rich! So I'd like to get maximum value out of each teabag. Besides, slightly tea flavored water is better then plain water. Seriously I could drink tea the whole day...

But Caffeine in tea makes me hungry and eat more the next meal, so Ive been going for herbal infusions these days.

Like this!

I don't think you'd want your job to get exciting, would you?

Exciting for security usually means bad news.

I'm angry and depressed about the this week's big political development. Won't mention specifics, but if you've been listening to the news since Wednesday you probably know what I'm talking about. Trying to keep it out of my head because there's nothing I can do about it, it's pure awful with zero silver lining, and it'll just get me down more to dwell on it.

And it seems to be the only thing the news wants to talk about. So I can't listen to the news, like I usually do on quiet Fridays. :( Ah well, in a couple of hours it'll be time for Science Friday on NPR, which oughtta be a nice reprieve.

Though too late, I strongly recommend Isaac Arthur. Otherwise, you might want to look at my YouTube list on my page, here on the forums (clicking my name) - it has a lot of fun stuff to listen to!

I liked it a lot. I'm sad he and JJ didn't get back together, but with their particular and complicated history it's just unreasonable.

I've not seen season two, yet, though - we can't watch Netflix until we find where one of my sons stashed the remote (neither of the boys knows). We are really hoping said remote wasn't thrown out with the garbage somehow, because we'd basically have to get a new blue ray player (as this one has bought into the the absolutely horrid, "eh, no one uses buttons on-device; remotes-only!" policy that seems to infest many modern designs).

Also: caught up!

Again!

Also-also: ran the game today! All day! It went great!

In the first three hours of play, the party... managed to sail across a tiny spit of water to make landfall. Landfall that they would have made within the first minute of play had they just decided to wait before trying a thing.

But then they decided to try a thing.

... and then two of them almost drowned. (Also, they may or may not have lost their souls.)

... and one of them got bitten by a were-hume (who looked like a were-shark, because he was originally an awakened shark*) he now secretly has become a "hume" therianthrope; ironically, this makes him literally the only person in the party that could be affected, as he's a hestyl; none of them know this, yet, however - hoo, boy, that next full moon will be awkward!.

... and because of all this, they nearly managed to capsize the ship (it was in the middle of a storm that wouldn't have been that bad... if they didn't keep taking their rowers from the oars and putting them to other, unrelated tasks, like, say, pulling drowning people out of the sea).

... and when they finally got "home," they decided not to pursue the pirates, and took a day of downtime/healing.

... and the day after that, their request for helping purge a curse on some people (the previously-mentioned were-hume** and his comrade**), so they went to the church to do that. They participated in an exceptionally advanced magical ritual that a very bad and secretly undead thing intentionally flubbed to allow his goddess the evil one mentioned below attempt to kill/replace the Paopae of the church. The ritual successfully dispelled the curse, buuuuuuuuuuuut... nearly killed many of the participants. Not one, but two of my players had the same idea at the same time - sacrifice their lives to stop said evil goddess from killing and replacing the Paopae. One of them won the initiative roll, and, after the alchemist a third player who was not going to sacrifice herself for a Paopae made a tiny explosion in said goddess' face, the winner of the two initiatives sacrificed herself, which slowed the goddess down just long enough for the loser to channel a crap-ton of positive energy into the undead goddess.

This, combined with a few really lucky will saves and CL checks (and a remarkably one-sided opposed Charisma-check, with the mortal snagging a natural 20, opposing the goddesses natural 1) mean that the goddess was defeated, and the player who sacrificed herself found that, instead of a soul, she had an evil goddess (and neither of them particularly knew where the PCs' soul had gone, and the one that cared had no ability to do anything). Said evil goddess effectively made the PC physically immortal by being stuck there, but seems to have entirely blocked off her supernatural powers. The other people woke and recovered normally.

* Technically not true; originally, he was an awakened mackerel, but, you know, things happen.
* Okay, so, like, there's a long story here, but you don't really need to no more than they were originally normal animals that got awakened and turned into humans, and then really, really, really badly cursed by an exceptionally spiteful evil goddess.

Oh, in total, they each got 500 gold and an "IOU one shiny metal badge" from the church.

Hmm pass the mozzarella recipe? Grats on 20,and...uh combine Splintergraft with doppelgangers/saronite chain gang?

*backs away from creepy puppet*

Mozarella (Low Carb) Bagels:

Spoiler:
INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 cup Almond flour
1 tbsp Gluten-free baking powder
2 1/2 cup Mozzarella cheese (shredded)
2 oz Cream cheese (cubed)
2 large Egg (beaten)
Sesame seeds (for topping - optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Stir together the almond flour and baking powder. Set aside.

3. Combine the shredded mozzarella and cubed cream cheese in a large bowl. Microwave for 2 minutes, stirring halfway through. Stir again at the end until well incorporated. (If you don't want to use the microwave, heat the cheeses in a double broiler on the stove over low heat, stirring frequently, until completely melted and easy to stir.)

4. Stir the flour mixture and eggs into the melted cheese mixture. Working quickly while the cheese is still hot, knead with your hands until a dough forms. The dough will be very sticky, but keep kneading and squeezing through your fingers for a few minutes. If the dough becomes hard before fully mixed, is too difficult to mix, or is still sticky after a couple minutes, you can microwave/reheat for 15-20 seconds to soften it. In that case, wash your hands and knead again.

NOTE: It's very important for the dough to be completely uniform before proceeding to the next step. You shouldn't have pieces of cheese separate from areas of almond flour.

UPDATE: To make it easier to mix the dough, you can use a food processor with a dough attachment instead of kneading by hand.

5. Divide the dough into 6 parts. Form/roll a long log with each part, then press the ends together to make a bagel shape on the lined baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining dough. If using sesame seeds, sprinkle them over the bagels and gently press into the dough. (You can also use everything seasoning for everything bagels.)

6. Bake for 10-14 minutes, until the bagels are firm and golden.

RECIPE NOTES

For "everything" keto bagels, try everything seasoning! It's been very popular with people making this recipe.

This reminds me, what exactly is a futurist?

Someone who believes in/contemplates/looks towards/quasi-predicts the future.

Not-so-much in the, "God says X will happen." prophet, or, "Y is what's going to happen because of..." fortune-telling or whatever, but someone who notes, "According to analytic trends, and current working theory, Z is likely the way that things will go."

A Futurist is, then, someone who attempts to point towards one or more various possible futures using the best scientific data we currently have. Link.

Not always scientists, but a broad kind of analysis and guesswork.

In IA's case, he's a predictive optimist, a, "here's how awesome the future could be, and here's why" kind of futurist.

Tony Stark is a futurist.

The Exchange

I'd recommend eating with vanilla/cookies and cream ice cream. You see I increased the amount of cocoa powder greatly but did not add anymore water/oil etc, so it turned out a tad dry. Ah well. Ain't the end of the world, and cakes tend to be a tad dry the day they are baked and get a little oiler the next day.

Actually before I started baking, I was feeling tired. Once I started baking, I felt energized. What the heck?

I did add some espresso to the cake since I've heard espresso gives chocolate cakes a subtle kick.

Does smelling caffeine actually energize you?

I've felt like it does. Could be a placebo effect however.

Smelling coffee does stimulate you a little I believe.

Gee, I must be really sensitive to just smell it and get perked up for hours.

Apply mosquito repellent and good luck? If there are mosquitoes I'll always get bit.
