HAH! Trick question!
I want the person who plays, "human number <whatever>" that lives on the earth approximately 30 years prior to the events of the film!
I've got to say: I hated that movie.
No, the extended cut would not have made it better.
Blech.
Love the monster, though!
It's weird to think that it's supposed to happen only 30 years from now. Was it back in '97? Were they shooting for a "half-century in the future" concept? Seems... optimistic in this side of it...
EDIT: as is my desire to remain clothed... *gets dressed*

Random thoughts of the afternoon for No Good Reason:
Anyway, have a happy afternoon, everyone! The light rains cleared the air here a bit, and now our annual late October weather has officially hit, so it's "only" 78 and sunny outside.
Oh, and my beloved crappy chair finally broke this morning, meaning I have to figure out what chair NobodysWife got (it's amazing! It "welcomes your butt") and order one.
EDIT: And oh yeah, all of a sudden Pandora won't let me thumbs-down songs I don't like. So I turned it off.

Well, the nudity was definitely involved with its mission... Though not in a good way.
One of the interesting things about that film is, if you're seeking to place it in PF-Earth, it's clear the drive not only shifted reality, but also time itself: it went back to before Asmodeus had conquered Hell, and befor the kytons had been driven out (if I have my PF lore down correctly, anyway, which I might not).

Random thoughts of the afternoon for No Good Reason:
Impus Minor woke up exhausted and in tears again this morning. Thankfully such events are getting rarer and rarer. But still, when it happens and I have to send him to school anyway, I feel like the Worst Dad in the World.
Not one, but TWO major bugs popped up this morning at work, so I was getting very little done anyway, when...
"The thread" that showed up over the weekend caught NobodysWife's attention, and she has me monitoring it. I'm not even linking it, because I know some of you are already on it, and it's otherwise a third-rail issue. So that was a distraction.
I'm also cleaning up from Saturday. There's a disadvantage to having a full-day game on Saturday, then being gone all Sunday. And that disadvantage is Monday.
NobodysWife and I both *hated* Blade Runner, finding it overly-stylish and excessively boring. There are very few movies I'll tolerate just because they're "pretty". Blade Runner isn't one of them. So I'm left perplexed as to why NobodysWife wants to go see Blade Runner 2049

1) Plenty of good reason! It's so we can hear (well, read) them!
2) I feel you3) I don't feel you, but I empathize (I'm not a programmer, but I've spent lots of time on ridiculous tasks - like cleaning poopy)
4) I don't know what "3rd rail" means! (No, seriously, I should know, I've just forgotten)
5) Monday is broadly a disadvantage
6) I loved Blade Runner, but I was a stupid youth, so... and I liked The Matrix, so, sooo... also, I'd love to see the new BR for both interest in the subject and nostalgia
7) Yay for enjoyable weather
8) my chair has repeatedly "died" a particularly ignoble and slow and stinky death - I'm seeing if it can hang on long enough for my youngest to escape diapers before replacing it, buuuuuuut doesn't look good - sitting atop a fetid chair corpse is no bueno
9) Pandora should know better!

The electric rail for electric trains.

We had a wonderful, massive, comfy chair we called the "KingGodChair" because it was ludicrously huge for a single person to sit in, and the kind of thing you'd expect from a Conan the Barbarian movie. Then (I believe it was) Impus Minor happened to it, and we had to throw it out. Seriously. THAT bad.
I know losing good chairs, Lily.

Or it could have simply visited Plane Of Shadows or some pocket dimension. Everyone involved not having any ranks in Knowledge (planes) thought it's hell because of kytons dressing the place where it popped in.

Odd Business Decisions #238,429: "You have reached your limit of skipped songs".
So... I found out that my issue with Pandora is that I've skipped too many songs, which violates their license agreement. This does NOT include ads, which I have *never* skipped, since I know they're what pays for the station.
In other words, "If you want to listen to us, you can't tell us we play too much stuff you don't like."
Ok. Fine. I've turned you off, since you're forcing me to listen to songs I don't like, and I have plenty of alternatives (Spotify, IHeartRadio, actual real radio, etc.).
So I'm no longer a revenue stream.
How did that work for you, again?

Apparently, the holiday increase in my hours start this week.
3 days I work this week!
At least I had the forethought to request off for Friday-Wednesday.
Sadly that means I work tonight, tomorrow, and Thursday.
Hopefully they've given up trying to trick me into training newbs.
It turns out one of my biggest pet peeves is people following three feet behind me asking stupid questions.
Stupid questions are fine, not the following.

We're enjoying the first "low time" this year -- the environment team can't have our stuff ready 'til early December, so I'm just working on preliminary images to get my classes ready for testing. I'll be done in 3 weeks, at which point I have... nothing 'til early December.
I think I mentioned that I planned for the 31st off, then asked for the 30th as well, and my manager said, "Sure! And can you take Thanksgiving week off, too? I really don't have anything for you."
I like my manager.

Frankly, as a customer it'll be hard for you to top the "do you price match Wal-Mart on firearms?" I get every fall. :-)

Hey, Cap. Stop them in their tracks by telling them "No, we don't sell firearms here" before they can even ask their question. Let's see just how many walk away afterwards. :D

I have been feeling out of sorts for a while now. Tonight it got bad. I try to be cheerful. I try to focus on my new and improved tasks at work, which doesn't work. This world is a s+&+ty, s$+!ty place. And when I say this, I am not even drunk.
I thought I was past this. I was doing so well. Starting up new projects, thinking ahead...
Nope.
Let me show you guys I am a geek. The best quote I can think of is from Madoka: "Adults are always in pain". Turns out, regrets don't come alone. You build a house of them. Then when one gets just a bit too heavy, they all come to visit.
The next step, of course, is that you feel ashamed because you dump what you are feeling on others. Provided it's okay to feel the way you feel in the first place.
But what the f@~# do you do when you HAVE to be at 100, and even 3 feels WAY out of reach?
Thank you for listening/Sorry for my rambling.
P.S. I will be okay. Don't worry.

It's not really a question that you can anticipate at a toy store.
I certainly can't tell every person off the bat that we don't carry firearms.

I know how it is. Between my breakdown in April, my illness, being off work for 3 months and watching the bills pile up, being semi-depressed because I could do nothing about those bills, and the most recent realization that next month is the 20th Anniversary of my brother's suicide, I certainly feel like the world is dumping sewage on me a metric ton at a time.
But I'm here. If you need support, just PM me. I'll listen.

I like to look at it as:
- The people who seek power are s~@%ty, s%##ty people.- The news loves to report on s~@%ty, s%##ty things.
- But if you walk out your front door, smile and say, "Hi!" to your neighbors, and wander down the street, you'll find that all in all, the world really isn't that bad a place (unless, apparently, you live in Studpuffin's neighborhood). It's just a constant bombardment of negativity that makes it feel so.
Deleted the rest, for privacy/politics reasons
