Morning, all. What did I miss?

Let's see... Freehold has mysteriously disappeared again, completely missing the spectacle of a giant silver and ebony robotman stopping a kaiju from stomping on BonChon headquarters; Dr. FrankenBadger has sent more final drafts in to delighted 3PP publishers, who remain completely unaware of his hidden passages from the Turnipnomicon; city planners have finally mapped all the permutations of Orthos' routes to work and, starting tomorrow, begin road construction projects on all of them; a certain Paizonian Sales Imp is considering taking up a new career as a pied tromboneer of cows... oh wait, that's Oprah's soap opera!

Edit: Nekkid soap opera?!

Oh I understand the excuse of it. I just never thought it necessary =) I'll be hitting 30 next June.

Ebon and I had a friend who did that a lot when we were both living in Phoenix, it was always a little silly we thought.

Yeah, I agree with you on this, Orthos. I'm 37 and I have never in my life seen any reason to be ashamed of my age. I mean, geez, it's not like there's something wrong with getting older. I think of it more as an achievement. Hey, look, I made it another year without dying. Woo! ;P

My mom used to say she was 39 and holding. When I was very little I tried to do the math to see how long it would take to pass her because I took her literally.

I'm watching a movie starring Sean William Scott ...and not only is it not bad, it's actually good. And not in a silly way. Just good. Wonders never cease, I guess.

Also, Allison Pill is kinda cute, and Eugene Levy is always good.

I will be starting Mummy's Mask tonight for PFS, nothing like that new AP feeling.

Goon. It's kinda like Youngblood meets Slapshot.

Orthos, what level is your FFV party? I found some strange news while looking at a walkthrough.

I think I was somewhere in the high 20s/low 30s. I did quite a bit of level grinding because I'm a sucker for Blue Magic.

I'm hoping to DM that AP in the future. We have a TON of campaigns planned out for our group already though, so who knows when it will be.

For me, it's silly for multiple reasons (mainly that nobody ever believes I'm over 30). I'm 33 and quite happy. =)

Count me in the group who didn't stop counting at 29.

35 and counting (and despite a proper beard I got carded last month...)

That forest fire I mentioned on Sunday - still going. "Only" one death so far, thankfully, but it's a pretty good sign of seriousness when the person being interviewed on the morning nrws isn't the local fire captain but the minister of defence.

Damn, I've only written a bit over 800 words on my main story in the span of seven months.

I really need to up my game if I want anything worth publishing done within the next decade...

800 words in 7 months. Who do you think you are, George RR Martin?

The problem is that I try to revise as I go instead of actually doing the first draft and then going back to edit it.

Good morning FaWtL folk. :) Happy Tuesday. I hope everyone is happy and healthy, and has a good day ahead. Weather is pulling a total Jekyll and Hyde here at the moment, wearing a pair of shades while carrying around an umbrella feels weird some times. :P

Err... right. Wednesday. Yes.

*throws tarp over time machine*

There was a bank holiday this past Monday, so this is my second day of work this week. As usual, that throws my time-sense something awful. So, yes, very much Wednesday. And happy Wednesday. :)

Hope you enjoy the festival. :) And particular bands playing you're looking forward to?

Kidlet:
Had a lovely weekend with the little one. Weather was very changeable, but we managed to get out in the fresh air whenever there was a bright spot. The little guy just loves outdoors, so I'm glad we got the chance. I don't look forward to when the weather returns to its normal wet self. We played, we counted, we sang along with the theme songs to kids' shows. His visits are becoming so normal now. Being a Dad is weird. :P

I did have my first heart attack moment this weekend though. Sunday night, the little dude was jaded and I was getting ready to put him down for the night, when he lost his balance and fell on his face. Not an uncommon occurrence, with his insistence on running everywhere, but this particular time he cut the inside of his lip when he fell. I've never heard him wail like he did then, and the sight of blood sent me into a complete panic. In 5 minutes, and a change of bloody jammies, he was like it had never happened, and went to bed no problem. Bless his heart, I was still a bundle of nerves.

Left him back with his mum on Monday. He may be moving in with me for a few months soon. That'll be big. We'll see if it actually happens though.

Thursday Game:
There's a ? over whether the Thursday night game will happen this week, the GM got a surprise promotion in work at the start of the week and his busyness has increased yet again. He hopes to run it, as he himself doesn't want two weeks in a row with no game, but I'm just not so sure he'll manage it. Poor dude's got too much on his plate. Still, we shall see tomorrow.

Boardgames:
Had the folks from the Thursday game over to my gaf last night for boardgames. They hadn't played "Tales of the Arabian Nights" before, so we played that again. I've started to recognise some of the events when they start, so I've possibly played it too much. Still, good fun was had, and a player who had been behind for ages managed to steal the win from under the nose of the one who had been in the lead since the start. A few comments were made on the pure random nature of the game, there really is no way to plan or strategize, but everyone still very much enjoyed, and made clear that they would happily play it again. So, woo! :)

Well Emperor are playing, if they weren't then I might not have gone. But there's Primordial (from Ireland), who last time they performed there the singer lost his voice during the first song. Saxon, Wynterfelleth, Amon Amarth, Old Corpse Road, Lacuna Coil, Megadeth are also performing.

Yeah, with Arabian Nights you really have to play it for fun - not too win. Although getting the disadvantage that doubles your Story (?) points is great strategy.

Do you have a caller/reader or pass it around (the person on the left of the active player)?

Or like you're living near to the North Sea, at least. ;)

And gah. Twenty hours since I woke up. Time for a pizza, followed by the Irish whisky my parents brought back from Scotland (a Kilbeggan), and then bed. Play nice FAWTLs.

That's thankfully easy to do, because it's so funny. Crippled, yeah, very handy "disadvantage". Story seems like it should be easier to increase than Destiny, but it's still really common that you wind up with massive Destiny and no Story. It's lucky it's so fun. :P

We do it by the book (Book of Tales to the left, Reaction Matrix to the right), mostly 'cause I never thought of doing it any other way. It might actually run smoother with just one person dedicated to the job. It does reduce the amount of time people end up on their phones though. :P

True, we had a 5 player game & 1 'caller' - that did end up with some boredom, especially since only 1 or 2 people could win. Although I do find that playing the game is more enjoyable than victory.

Spoiler:
Aye, not the best with blood, historically. Well, I suppose it's more people bleeding. Blood itself, like, in blood bags or something, doesn't bother me. But people with blood coming out of them, and I just can't keep my cool. Not that I have much experience to base it on, outside of horror movies, and a few real life horror experiences. Anyways, yes, I imagine that small children, being the humanoid typhoons that they are, are prone to injuries and bleeding, which will only get worse as he gets older. I suppose I'll just have to get over it. Didn't quite work that well the last night but people rarely get it right the first time. Even thinking of it makes me feel tense. I feel it's more "someone I care about is hurt and I am powerless to solve this". Maybe I should do a first aid course or something.

I appreciate it man. :) I hope so too. Big changes are in the wind. With a bit of luck, things will be better going forward.

People usually peg me for mid-20s. It's flattering, but also frustrating professionally because people assume I lack experience.
