Scarab Sages

Good morning FAWTLY Folk! Happy Monday? Meh, jury's still out. Stayed up a bit too late, so I'm short on sleep.

Scarab Sages

Plus.....Monday. I mean, how happy can it be?

Scarab Sages

Unless, of course, you're someone for whom going to work is like an escape from the asylum......

Scarab Sages

At least there is coffee.

Scarab Sages

And there was one highlight of last night.....Eva Green writhing Nekkid on a bed.

Scarab Sages

Not my bed, of course.......:(

Scarab Sages

Baby girl woke up around quarter to five this morning. Wife went to change her, then brought her to our bed to feed her. Since I was getting up in a few minutes anyway, I just turned off my alarm and let them have the bed.

You see, this is how the women slowly take all that you have, leaving you a drained and lifeless husk, where once a vibrant soul dashed madly through the universe.

They're subtle. Oh so subtle.

Scarab Sages

Except when they're not.

Scarab Sages

I, on the other hand, am about as subtle as a Maul of the Titans to the groin.

Scarab Sages

I'll just let that image sink in......

I dunno. Sometimes it's less subtle and more sottle.

LOL, that is absolutely true...

Spoiler:
I did feel bad about killing my family. Then I turned around and did it again to my pbp group. I just couldn't help myself. Of course I couldn't kill CH. You always need to leave one survivor to tell the tale..

It was great meeting you in person, CH!

Game of Thrones had it all last night. The battle to take Castle Black, the Night Watch, Wildlings running amok, Ice Giants, Mastodons, and squishy toe-jam.

Belated Happy Birthday wishes to those with recent birthdays (Celestial Healer, Ebon, Orthos, if not more). Hope ye had enjoyable celebrations. :)

Dark Archive

Happy belated Father's day, aeglos (and anyone else whose Father's Day was recent), hope you had an enjoyable day with the kids. :) Irish Father's Day is the third Sunday in June (this coming weekend). I don't get a full day with the kidlet (his Mum wasn't having it), but I do get a few hours, which will be nice. I plan on having my Dad joining us, three generations enjoying the day together. :)

Dark Archive

Sympathies and well wishes to those suffering troubles of late, be it tough days in the mines (Ragadolf), the end of such days (Shiny), losing beloved pets (Tordek), or poor health in the family (Rawr!, aeglos, MJ). Here's hoping for brighter tomorrows. ~~positive waves~~

A busy two and a half weeks this side of the pond. Unless you enjoy a healthy dose of stupid, skip the spoilers. :P

Kidlet Visit:
Had the little one down for the weekend, as planned. As always, he came down accompanied by a new bottle of medicine, this time for a throat infection, apparently. Whatever, little dude doesn't care, still his energetic, delightful self. We played with bubbles and blocks and watched Peppa and Mickey. Went for walks on the beach and through town when the weather was nice, and set up a sandpit in the backyard when it wasn't as certain. All was enjoyed, and we were all set to leave him back to his mum on Sunday night. That's when things went a little pear shaped.

Background Detail:
I had my last exam in the professional qualification I'm doing this past Thursday. I've failed it three times now, and have really thrown myself into study the past six months to finally pass it, once and for all. In that vein, I took two weeks leave, leading up to the exam, from work to study. The start of these two weeks was to be marked with leaving the kidlet back that weekend, then two weeks of uninterrupted study. The kidlet's mom knew my exam was coming up, but not sure if she knew when exactly, or if I was on leave. The Mom also has a habit of lying a lot, which makes scheduling and negotiating very difficult at times.

Week 1:
I get a call from the Mom Sunday night, after I've put the kidlet down for the night, telling me that her daughter in her home country had been hit by a car, and was in hospital for emergency surgery. She needed to return home immediately, and wanted me to mind my son for however long she was gone, probably no more than a week. Needless to say, of course I agreed. Monday and Tuesday were very tricky, as I didn't really have supplies in for a week long visit, nor had I really scheduled for it. Thankfully my mum and dad really came through for me, don't know how I would have handled without them. On Tuesday, I got in touch with the Mom, trying to get an update. Apparently, she had a ticket and was about to leave, when her ticket was canceled by the anti fraud department of the airport, because it had been bought on someone else's credit card, and she was seeing about another flight on the weekend. The week went on, until the Mom got back in touch on Friday to say that she had been convinced by her family back home that there was no need to go back and see her daughter in hospital, and she would take my son back the next day. At this point, I do not believe her daughter was ever in an accident, but there's little I can do to prove it, and nothing I could do even if I could, so I drop my kid back and try to recover for the following week. Needless to say, one week down, and not a second of study done.

Week 2:
Much quieter than the first week, though stressed out of my gourd that I hadn't gotten any study done yet, I worked flat out until Thursday, and feel like I did pretty good in the exam itself. I then proceeded to crash, energy-wise. I looked forward to a weekend away (a couple of friends were off on holidays abroad, and asked me to house/cat-sit for the weekend, and it was a great excuse to escape from the homestead for a couple of days), when the kidlet's Mom got back in touch, reminding me that she was leaving the kidlet up that weekend. So, another weekend with the kidlet (which I love, I was just exhausted and hadn't been able to recharge yet, like I had hoped), which also included a day trip across the country to feed and water cats, before returning to feed and water kidlet (who my parent's were thankfully able to cover me for again). Which brings us up to the return to work today.

TL;DR ? Had a great, extended visit with my son and pretty sure I kicked the ass of my last professional exam, which, come August, may open a great many doors to me. Absolutely exhausted now though.

This reminds me of issues that my friend had with mother of his daughter...

Let's just say that the daughter is now living with my friend, his wife and their son after an extended battle for custody over her.

Yeah. I got the memo. And I understand the policy. And the problem is just that I forgot the one time. And I've already taken care of it so it's not even really a problem anymore.
