Time will tell. I have to say I'm very impressed with Scott and White's ICU nursing staff. Very sharp and knowledgeable.

Dad's brother came into town Sunday. It was a good visit.

Great to hear! And that hospital has (at least half of) an awesome name!

I agree. White is an awesome name.

+1 to that.

So yeah.

I'm in Texas. Yesterday a bit before noon my grandfather took a turn for the worse. He dropped into a coma and his heart rate was dropping. We were all home, packed, and piled into the RV and driving down to Yoakum within an hour and a half.

We didn't make it. He passed sometime yesterday around 4 PM Central time, just after my mom got to talk to him on the phone (though he was still in the coma so he didn't talk back). She was talking to her sister a few minutes after and they announced he was gone. They haven't yet announced the cause of death.

We arrived around 5 AM this morning, give or take. We'll be here for an undetermined amount of time until the funeral and maybe a little past. EbonFyre, my brother, and my niece are flying down today, Dad and I are heading to the airport in Austin to pick them up around 2-ish I think.

Sadly since I didn't come in my own car and money is tight, swinging through Houston for the FAWTLy HQ visit isn't an option.

Orthos, my deepest condolences.

My condolences, Orthos.

Sorry to hear that Orthos.

So sorry for your loss Orthos. :(

My condolences to you and your family, Orthos.

No, actually it wasn't. the DJ went for something a little more obscure.

And saskwatches hiding in the wheat. You may not have seen them, though, since they blend in pretty well.

Oh that's nice, I have never heard the Wax idols, but the TOT album "Night Music" is awesome although I did get a wee bit burned out on "Go"

Yeah, "Go" got a lot of airtime.

Your post in the Heliocentrism thread made me laugh, Freehold, but I feel weird "favoriting" it.

worry not. It is a humorous take on what the ancient Greeks believed.

I like that song. I heard it for the first time a month ago.

Thank you all for the condolences.

Funeral is apparently Sunday. Just got a text from my mom - nice jeans and comfy shirts funeral, no suits or ties. Yeah, sounds like Pawpaw.

So very sorry, Orthos. I'm glad your mom got in that last phone call, and I like to think he heard her somehow. I wish you, EbonFyre, and all your family the very best in this difficult time.

Silver Crusade

Orthos, please accept my condolences in this difficult time.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate it.

Talking to my grandmother, cause of death was determined to be the spreading pneumonia infection, which had gotten into his other lung and heart.

Sad to say but this probably was the better option. If he'd survived this, he would have had to lose most or all of the lung with the mass in it (which they were all but certain was cancerous), get the pneumonia cleaned out, then likely put him on chemo for the cancer(s) in the lung/liver. Even then, his chances of survival would have been slim and relatively short lived. At least this way he suffered minimally.

I have seen the passing of both my and my wife's grandparent's. I certainly sympathize. And I agree with DSXM. He sounds like a cool bloke. :)

The Mad Mage and his family send you and yours their heartfelt best wishes.

Glad to hear you are there safe and sound. Have fun in the UK.

Dad seems to be improving/holding steady, and I'm running an errand to Sugerland this morning. I'll be thinking of the Houston FAWTLs while I'm there.

Take care!

I am a big fan of directv.

I had DirecTV at one point when I lived in Philly. Crappy customer service ended that.

But they're really just as bad as all the others. They charge extra money for tons of channels that very few people watch and otherwise would never survive. That is the evil.

I look forward to one day just being able to pay for everything by channel, or even by show.

I'm almost ready to strangle one of the instruments douchbags from the 5th floor. Lucky for me, his fellow instruments dude might beat me to it.
