Thanks guys. It's a bit of a disappointment, as I would have been akin to a school counselor, which would have been cool. Still, there are other jobs. My destiny lies elsewhere.
You're not alone in the 'thanks but no thanks' boat today. We'll just soldier on. Or sailor on, since we're on a boat.

Well, it's always good to have company. Especially when it's nekkid... sets black manliness for sailing on the deep blue sea

He kept going on and on about identity and things like that. I sparked his interest because I was looking at a magazine of celeb scandals (and succeeding at not laughing at how ridiculous it is) and the kid apparently had nothing better to do. Looked to be about 19.
He kept going on for a bit about finding a unique identity vs. trying to mold to an identity and how he could give proper advice on finding one's own identity. Kept mentioning a few psychological theories. Finally, I got fed up.
This is what I said that dumbfounded him:
"What am I? Who am I now? Am I even still human? If you can answer those questions, right now, I'll listen to your ceaseless, senseless blathering for as long as you wish to speak. You have ten seconds to start answering."
Unsurprisingly, he had no answers. I got a discount for finally getting him to shut up.
Did I touch a nerve or something? Asking in case that was meant in a less joking way. I've been trying to keep an eye out for if I'm offending people.

Craigslist says there are some reasonably-priced apartments and/or rental homes in the surrounding area, especially if I'm willing to up my morning commute to ~20-30 minutes longer than normal. It might be time to make strides toward moving out.
Grab a good one! Defend it hard! Surround it with the hanging corpses of your competitors!
Okay, maybe my apartment-hunting experiences have been atypical...

Coworkers generously pointed me to one much closer - less than 10 minutes from the office! - and with reasonable prices, and they take pets. I'm going to see about looking into it tomorrow (since tonight is game night).

Ah! I don't have a good history with it myself. But, then, it's a side-effect of my income class; you don't generally get to see the people who actually know what they're doing.

Spent all morning and a bit of this afternoon writing an essay for class.
Which brings me to think that whoever came up with "Secondary Education, Mathmatics" degree plan is a sadist. On top of the math theory class (in which nobody is happy... too much math for a writer, too much writing for a math person), now I get to take education classes.
Education classes require essays each week.
Math people don't like writing essays.
Why are they making math people write essays?
Grrr. Argh.

vengeance.
More seriously, I see the two societies talked about in that essay by what's his face more and more often as I get older and wonder if anything can be done to bridge the gulf.
