Good evening FAWTLY Folk! I hope everyone had a good day. My house electrical problems have been taken care of (quicker than I expected). I was also able to get some Popeye's chicken for lunch, stop in at the homebrew store for some supplies (gotta get back to brewing), clean up the house a bit, then make it out to a beer store to increase my summer supply of Abita Strawberry Harvest Lager (I'm now up to just shy of 4 cases).
Now it's a semi-quiet evening at home.

One bummer bit of news - a bunch of cars in the neighborhood were looted last night. They always go for the unlocked ones. Thankfully, the wife and I always lock up.
Still, this means that crime is likely starting to pick up again. Might be time for another Town Watch meeting.....
not locking your car doors is asking for trouble.

The charger from previous laptop has right output parameters but the plug does not fit.Drejk wrote:beshabas nipples, that could be a problem with either the charger or the power supply. One is annoying, the other is expensive. Have you any other chargers about the house?Doesn't work FHDM. It seems that the power from AC is not reaching the interior of the laptop - which might be either broken AC or broken chips that are responsible for early part of energy transfer within laptop.
If it would work with AC permanently attached it wouldn't be problem at all - I use it like a desktop all the time anyway without carrying it anywhere.
I had the exact same thing happen to me....
Unfortunately not with good results :(

This mini-rant pretty much explains why I only upgraded from Firefox 3 within the past year or so. Everything from Firefox 4 on changed to be too much like Chrome, and I only discovered about a year ago how to use add-ons and reorganize buttons to make the newer versions look like the old.
If I liked things looking and working like Chrome I would have just kept using Chrome! I tried it once, didn't like the interface, and went back to Firefox.

Chrome finally won me over Firefox as primary browser (despite me favoring Firefox interface over chrome) when the problems with my first laptop reached its peak - Chrome can be synchronized with gmail account which I use all the time and now I don't have problem with losing links when moving between computers. The same applies to passwords to various websites and accounts.
I still use Firefox to check second gmail account to avoid need for logging out from first one.
Chromizing Firefox UI is partly recoverable - some options have to be checked/unchecked, like turning back on the menus. IIRC tabs can be turned off but haven't looked for that option.

Yeeeeaaaah I stopped using Gmail and Google as a whole, with the single exception of Google Docs/Google Drive, when they changed their information tracking policy. Moved my email to Hotmail, my browser first to Bing then to StartPage, and never left Firefox.

Everytime I see someone mention that Chrome software thing, all I can think of is the old Garfield animated show where they almost get sacrified in a volcano by wacky natives who keep chanting....
...Chrome!
Chrome!
Chrome!
Bop. Bop. A rebop.
Or something weird like that. I think whoever wrote it was smoking some really good stuff.

I grew up on that show. Lorenzo Music will always be Garfield to me.
It also made me wonder why so many people disliked the comic... until I actually read the more recent stuff in the papers, and realized how bluh it had become.

The library in my hometown had a few of them - I remember the first one had a red cover, the second green, and the third blue. We would check them out rather regularly.
