Indeed. Many things went sideways.
The final nail in the coffin was at Halloween when we spoke with our neighbors. Their older daughter had been attending the same daycare. They pulled her out after she came home having learned some...not nice words.
Incidently, our neighbors are the ones who told us about the new place we have Charlie, as that's where they sent their daughter as well.

Good morning FAWTLY Folk! It's a cold morning here in Philthadelphia. Had to cleanse the car of its layer of frost. I think the boy got a kick out of me scraping away.
I keep a bottle of Heet spray in my car for icy mornings. Have to be a little careful with it as it fogs up sometimes after clearing the ice away, but it goes away after ~5 minutes (a little quicker if you leave your windshield wipers on) and it's much less annoying than scraping.

Hmmm, I like this idea. Thank you, my good man. When the zombiepocalypse happens, we'll eat you last.

*sign* "I'll be right behind you guys the whole time. Soon as the sun turns off anyway."

Well, in truth, the last straw really just solidified our determination to pull him out of that place, AND gave us an alternative place from someone we could trust.

It still touches my heart to see a Dad at the range with his son for the first time.
I lament that I never got this chance, never even held a gun until well after moving to AZ for college, where some of the folks from the church out there were kind enough to take me to the firing range and let me use their weapons.
I still have the target sheet from that visit, somewhere in all my stuff.
It's a remarkable bonding experience! :)

Stoopid government.

It's a "your cell phones have cameras and we don't want to risk that you might take pictures of restricted info and transmit it via phone even though you have a background check and are trusted with such documents" kind of thing.

I have to go grocery shopping. Bleh. I hate grocery shopping.
But I did spend the morning reading, so that's not as bad. Just finished Kushiel's Dart. Normally a 900 page book would be too long for me and my attention would start to wander, but not this one. I couldn't put it down right up until I was done. can't wait to start reading the next one. :)

My kids are 9 & 13, and they still get a kick out of me having to scrape frost off the windows in the morning.
Of course, in LA we don't even get frost very often, so I guess it's a 'cool cause it's rare' thing,...
;P
Not so rare here. My son goes nuts in a bad way about it. He can't get into the car until I've finished scraping the windows because the sound bothers him so much. And the last thing I want to do is get him all stressed out and upset right before dropping him off at school.

That reaction to that particular book sounds peculiarily familiar to me...

I suppose it could be worse. My friend with the EE PhD has to do an incident report if he steps out, checks his phone, and accidentally brings it back into the secure area. Of course that's a TS/SCI environment.
