That's not a good sign. What has you riled?

I would take it you are feeling a bit better?

And since noone guessed, it was "SaGa Frontier 2" or Final Fantasy Legend 2 in the US. You shrink down to microbe size and fight monsters(germs) in the body of the priestess Ki.

Yeah, I'm feeling a little better today. Still stuffy, but normal 'fall allergy' level of stuffy rather than 'OMG give me a Hoover to suck the snot out of my sinuses before my head explodes!' stuffy. And I'm not alternating between fever and chills anymore, either, so that helps with my general state of well-being.

I'll spare you my whining about work unless you really want to read it:
On the debit side of the ledger, though, I'm at the office instead of working from home today, which is kind of a bummer. (Especially since I have to participate in what are likely to be contentious meetings about our impending reorganization this afternoon. *grumble* They don't pay me anywhere near enough to put up with this crap, and won't even after I get the theoretical promotion that's supposed to come along with my position in our new, improved organizational structure.)

But there will be beer, pool, baseball, and dinner with good friends tonight, so there's that to look forward to. :)

How's everyone else today?

Day 2 or Orientation. I get to meet my new boss and do things the Speedway style.

Positive waves and mucho luck.

Yes.

Management by cluebat:
I keep an autographed major league baseball bat, along with several other baseball mementos and souvenirs, in my office at work. My favorite reaction to it thus far has been the person who asked, "What? Do you subscribe to the Don Corleone school of management?"

5 days left. Using all the will power I have to walk back in those doors. I have orientation today at the new job though and then a weekend off. Monday will be much harder.

I hope it goes well for you, CJ! And good luck at the new job for you too, BP!

I had the next installment of shattered star, the knight book, a few minis from the anniversary sale, a whole passel of planet stories books! Reading time! Whoo! I got maps and map packs (the ever important caravan map pack for Jade Regent - good thing, first session is this week!)

Also, I got the 3rd and 4th books in the Juuni Kokki novelizations. The fourth one, the one about Youko and Suzu and Shoukei, is quite long.

Looking forward to Jade Regent. The players are upset I insisted on a 15 point buy for their characters, but I'm looking at 6 players minimum, with as many as nine possibly (the ninth is looking less likely, but an unlikey 7th looks likely), so I had to limit things. I htink backgrounds are going to be important for this game, too. A couple characters have backgrounds, and I'll have to tease something more out of the others. :)

With that many players, did you consider asking some of them if they'd consider playing some of the important NPCs?

Of course, he only got as far as Newfoundland. That's only about a quarter of the way to Seattle (presumably by way of the Panama Canal). That said, there are a lot more friendly ports along the way these days. Just be careful about washing up in Florida on a boat; the Coast Guard doesn't take kindly to that sort of thing.

Not really. One couple is pregant with twins - their first children. I'm assuming they'll be unable to play much in about 5-6 months. :) I"ll be sorry to see them leave - they're good friends - but with that coming down the pike I"m assuming in the second book they'll begin withdrawing from the group - either fading into the background, or something else happening. At that point we'll be looking at 4-6 players - so I'll put up with the difficulty at low levels, and be able to dial stuff back to normal if, as I suspect, the group gets smaller once the twins arrive.

that's awesome. I'd be all too happy to slather corn syrup all over the business end to give it a "weathered" appearance.

Glad to hear you at feeling better. Sucks tha you are a work, I was going to have mr Renner stop by and pour salts into your jacuzzi.. Maybe another time.

Technically it is an old joke from the communist regime times referring to the vision of America being the land of milk, honey and gold bricks on the roads. Still, I felt it fits the discussion.

This reminds me-- I need to start researching to see if my idea of a Valkryie costume for Halloween is workable.

do it! I have a good friend that always calls me a Valkrie. Maybe I should consider it. It might better if I were blond, though, instead of a redhead for that.

Last year's costume required a blonde wig, so I've got that covered. :)

I'm more concerned about the headdress and clothes.

I just imagined a wig falling in pizza that would not be good.

What do you have in mind? I know of a few good places aroundabouts that might be able to set you up right, provided you don't mind paying shipping.

Also, watching the new Starship Troopers computer animation movie. Not bad so far- strange blend of the movie and the computer animated TV series. Enjoyable, but not for everyone.

For us, melanin-impaired folks it would give a quite different impression than "lustrous appearance" ;)

Actually, I sew well enough to manage a bodice that should work (and may actually have one already that I can use from old SCA stuff). I'll need a chemise and/ overskirt, and the winged helmet, depending on the historical representation I'm going with. Oh, and some reasonable facsimile of a winged horse...

Google chrome is cool as f$&&.
