Naked anticipation... Better get some big trousers.

Yeah, I'm not nearly as good with people as that. I'd check mine about once every three months, usually prompted by a text asking "Did you get the message I sent you on Facebook?" There's also the fact that I don't really have much desire to stay in contact with a lot of my "friends," and I tend to have other ways to stay in contact with those I do.

Honestly, Facebook's just getting creepy invasive.

Someone must have turned my cats from on to crazy this morning. I was asleep and then a cat jumped on me as a way to get to one of the other cats. I could hear them running around chasing each other with Karen's tom cat snarling and hissing at whomever got to close too him.

Morning, all. What did I miss?

Stay cool Lindisty. I am glad that you are such a good friend. ~whispers~ You are making sure to charge them premium rates, right?

Eh... it doesn't cost me anything to have them there. A couple of them cleaned out their refrigerators and brought food over to use up before it went bad-- and helped cook for everybody. Others brought board games and cards to keep us busy, so we all benefited, one way or another. :)

Sounds like your friends are better guests than most. Good on them. =)

I caught the midnight showing of the Amazing Spider-Man and it ended when Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive brown recluse spider and liquefied to death in Aunt May's arms.

No wait. There's a reason why I should never stay up late and what a movie.

The Amazing Spider-Man was good, very good. Not Avengers great, but way better than the last three movies they had with Toby McGuire. The lizard was lethal, dragon lethal and the overall plot extended from beginning to end. They had Sally Field as Aunt May and Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben. A real solid supporting cast that had a hot leggie Emma Stone and Dennis Leary as her father.

Worth seeing as a manatee or via general admission.

The original trailers had me left with a Twilight Teen Pandering Vibe that gave me an awful taste in my mouth and thus want nothing to do with the film. Should I toss that notion aside? It's a tough order to say that this reboot was way better than the previous three combined (even if that last one was a bit of a stinker...).

I resisted it kicking & screaming until I was peer-pressured into joining. Yeah, there's some soulless crap and clutter, but it's how you make use of it. I've met a lot of new friends and got in touch with a bunch of old ones I haven't seen for over 10 to 15 years; even to branch out of cyberspace and into meatspace. Frankly, if it weren't for it, I wouldn't have all the awesome connections I do now to see a plethora of concerts as someone's guest versus paying for them. It keeps my sanity intact instead of just sitting around at home doing nothing because unemployment forces me to live frugally. I'm already insane enough as it is; it doesn't need to reach an unhealthy spectrum of the shut-ins due to lack of affording entertainment.

Yeah, there's a pro / con to the "oversharing." I don't provide all my information to Facebook. I also tend to limit what I like and/or comment upon because I can't depend on the setting of the person who initiated the status / photo / comment / etc and have it bleed onto the wall feed for everyone to see what I'm responding / liking as if I have to explain why I'm allegedly offending them. <shrug>

On the other hand, it has caught stuff that I didn't know about that I would have otherwise missed.

It's Catch 22. I just try to make sure my own personal privacy settings are in order and be mindful of what I choose what to (not) share.

Baby, baby, please believe me
I would never never do anything to hurt you
Baby, baby, please believe me
I would never never do anything to you to make you blue
But yesterday i got this letter
From the boy i loved before i ever knew you
Before i even knew you
-
And the train from Kansas city is coming into town.
The train from Kansas city is a-coming
And there's nothing i can do can make it turn around.
-
Baby, baby, please believe me
Nothing in this world would tear us apart
We'll never never part
So wait right here and i will hurry
I'll be back in the time it takes to break a heart
I gotta break his heart
-
'Cause the train from Kansas city is coming into town
The train from Kansas city is a-coming
And there's nothing i can do can make it turn around
-
No, i never answered his letter
I just couldn't tell him that way
No, i never answered his letter
I just didn't know what to say
Now I'm going down to the station
I'll be there at ten after two
I'll show him the ring on my finger
I don't what else i can do
-
The train from Kansas city is coming into town
The train from Kansas city is a-coming
And there's nothing i can do can make it turn around
-
Here comes the train

Good morning, FAWTLies! How's the day treating you so far? Did I miss anything important?

Rampant power outages and intense heat have been the major factor in my life the last few days. My house never lost power (thank $DEITY for buried power lines in the city), so I've been host to a parade of suburbanite friends who've been without power since Friday. Reliable electricity in weather crises makes up for many of the disadvantages of urban life. :)

Better than the first 3? Didn't car for the last one, but that a tall order friend. Will look forward to other reviews.

I'm glad you enjoyed the movie. I plan to see it when I get back from PaizoCon.

I don't think I'll travel to Florida or an aquarium to see it on the side of a manatee, though. :P

It's taken years of weeding and careful cultivation to grow this circle of friends. There aren't a lot of them, but they're all reasonably awesome. :)

No, the perfect temperature for jacuzzi-ing is sub-freezing, in my book. I mean, it's nice when the weather's temperate, but it's best when it's really cold out. Watching the snow fall and melt in the steam from the hot tub is one of the Best. Things. Ever. :)

That said, I rarely turn down good company in a jacuzzi. :)

Welcome back to the madness PMG. >=)

Now when I was a young man, I carried me pack, and I lived the free life of a rover
From the Murray's green basin to the dusty outback, well, I waltzed my Matilda all over.
Then in 1915, my country said son, It's time you stopped rambling, there's work to be done.
So they gave me a tin hat, and they gave me a gun, and they marched me away to the war.
/
And the band played Waltzing Matilda, as the ship pulled away from the quay
And amidst all the cheers, the flag-waving and tears, we sailed off for Gallipoli
And how well I remember that terrible day, how our blood stained the sand and the water
And of how in that hell that they called Suvla Bay, we were butchered like lambs at the slaughter.
Johnny Turk he was waiting, he'd primed himself well. He shower'd us with bullets,
And he rained us with shell. And in five minutes flat, he'd blown us all to hell
Nearly blew us right back to Australia.
/
But the band played Waltzing Matilda, when we stopped to bury our slain.
We buried ours, and the Turks buried theirs, then we started all over again.
And those that were left, well we tried to survive, in that mad world of blood, death and fire
And for ten weary weeks, I kept myself alive, though around me the corpses piled higher
Then a big Turkish shell knocked me arse over head, and when I woke up in my hospital bed,
And saw what it had done, well I wished I was dead. Never knew there was worse things than dyin'.
/
For I'll go no more waltzing Matilda, all around the green bush far and free
To hump tent and pegs, a man needs both legs-no more waltzing Matilda for me.
So they gathered the crippled, the wounded, the maimed, and they shipped us back home to Australia.
The legless, the armless, the blind, the insane, those proud wounded heroes of Suvla
And as our ship pulled into Circular Quay, I looked at the place where me legs used to be.
And thanked Christ there was nobody waiting for me, to grieve, to mourn, and to pity.
/
But the band played Waltzing Matilda, as they carried us down the gangway.
But nobody cheered, they just stood and stared, then they turned all their faces away
And so now every April, I sit on me porch, and I watch the parades pass before me.
And I see my old comrades, how proudly they march, reviving old dreams of past glories
And the old men march slowly, old bones stiff and sore. They're tired old heroes from a forgotten war
And the young people ask, what are they marching for? And I ask myself the same question.
/
But the band plays Waltzing Matilda, and the old men still answer the call,
But as year follows year, more old men disappear. Someday no one will march there at all.
Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda, who'll come a-waltzing Matilda with me?
And their ghosts may be heard as they march by that billabong, who'll come a-waltzing Matilda with me?

--Eric Bogle

Hi everyone,

quick rest at the hotel

the day started at the Empire State Building,

I proposed. Sabine said yes. We are engaded now.

and, I kid you not, the moment I went down on m knee and pulled the ring out, A AUSTRIAN YOUTH CHOIR IN DIRNDL AND LEDERHOSEN STARTS SINGING IN GERMAN ON THE VIEWING PLATTFORM
we made pics with them, I try to upload to Photo Bucket

then we did a sightseeing tour and a river cruise, now sunburned we are at the hotel and I watch Baseball, trying to understand the counting of that sport
*looks confused at TV*

Don't worry. Some of us Americans don't get it either.

You are not alone. :) (I came late to baseball fandom. I've been watching baseball regularly since 2005, and I STILL don't understand all the rules.)

Edited to add: Also, television is not kind to baseball. Watching it at the park, where you can see the whole field at all times, is very different from watching it on television where it gets all split up by camera angles and such. It's easier to understand when you can see the whole field, I think.

Congrats, aeglos!
