What do you do with 192 True Dragons?

Conversions

The answer is simple - you use them to terrify your players! Over at d20pfsrd.com, we've just completed the month of the dragon (affectionately know at "How to Stat Your Dragon"), where a dedicated group of collaborators have just completed posting Pathfinder statistics for ALL AGE CATEGORIES for ALL TYPES OF TRUE DRAGONS. Yes, you ready correctly. We have posted statistics for all 15 Core Pathfinder Dragons (Chromatic, Metallic, and Primal).

We have every dragon for every need: from a CR 2 Crystal Dragon Wyrmling to a CR 23 Great Wyrm Gold Dragon and everything in between!

But Beastmaster, you ask, that's 15 dragon types with 12 age categories each - that's only 180 dragons!

Very astute! As a special bonus, we completed the age categories for a 16th true dragon from "Book of Beasts: Monsters of the River Nations": The River Dragon! Thanks to our good friends at Jon Brazer Enterprises for sending the River Dragon our way!

What a great resource! Thanks for all your hard work and calculations!

(And I'd be over the moon with a big fat pdf version too, if you ever find the time!)

I was going to suggest you have a neverending party with that many dragons with that high con, insane.

Overfiend here who worked on the Umbral Dragons. Very nasty to stat up but enjoyed doing it to help everyone who's looking for stats and finding these conversions sitting there for everyone to look up the conversions for :)

Vlad and Brent are the best though as they often help looking over the skills and calculating them properly.

Yeah PDF sounds cool if we can do it, though I have a feeling people would want PDFs of all other types of creatures we've converted from APs too.

Once the site gets around to updating the relevant files, you can mirror the whole kit and kaboodle on your home machine.

Ha! This is a great way for pfsrd to make a little money for all the contributors who worked on this monolithic accomplishment.

Gather some artwork (plenty of free stuff online), release pdf's on paizo.com, ????, profit!

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

Everyone, you're welcome. Keep an eye on the site - I hope to keep projects like this running all year. There's a lot of variant monsters that Paizo gives a brief description of that we circle around later with and build.

Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy the dragons!

Seriously, this sort of thing was just the reason that the Draconomicon was worth owning in 3.5, and with Pathfinder's drastic changes to dragons, I was already dreading trying to use them in game. This is a wonderful resource, and I give high praise to everyone involved.

I just want to say thank you for including the River Dragon. I am glad you liked it and we really appreciate you including our monster in there.

One big problem I see with it, though - why are the age categories listed alphabetically rather than chronologically? Why not start with Wyrmling and end with Great Wyrm, rather than Adult to Young Adult?

The main page uses an automatic subpage link list, which unfortunately wants to alphabetize everything. However if you click on the individual dragon types ((Chromatic) Green), you'll see that the Age Category chart on the right has links in the age category column to each dragon of that color from Wyrmling to Great Wyrm.

(Except the Bronze. I need to go fix that.)

Thanks for the feedback!

Any news on the possible PDF? Just wondering.

Well there's two bits of news, one I will explain, the other I will only hint at.

1) I started making a PDF and while it was functional it wasn't terribly pretty. I could make that available but wouldn't want its appearance to in any way speak for the general quality of stuff people expect from us.

2) A PDF will be available, plus lots more, from some really especially smart people very soon. It's gonna OWN!

Really especially smart people? Might one call them Geniuses, perhaps?

One has just spotted this baby on the starboard bow!

And... bought. (Though at this rate I'll be out a LOT of cash to get all 192 :-) )

I just asked in the store thread but the RSS for that wouldn't work for me. Would the Superintelligent Folks consider a subscription model or all-in price for the whole Codex Draconis line?

The Exchange

A really intelligent fella named Owen something or other wrote:

Right now, we just have no good way of doing a subscription, unfortunately. And when we do try a subscription, we're likely going to start with a "every Pathfinder PDF SGG does" subscriptiin before we break it into individual lines. I expect the Codex Draconis to come out about once every 4-6 weeks, so the hit to your budget in any given quarter shouldn't be too bad.

And of course sales of the each product will drive the decision to do the next one, repeated for all 16 true dragons. It may be there isn't a market for 192 dragon stat blocks, pregenerated hoards, alternate builds and tactical suggestions. But if there is, I'm all over it.
