Blunt Crossbow bolts?

Hey all,

Where can I find the details about blunt arrows/bolts? It's really hard for a low level gnome rogue to damage skeletons with piercing weapons! My guy is in the market for blunt crossbow bolts.
Cost, per bolt or per case? Also, could they be considered "Mundane Equipment"?

Grand Lodge

Blunt Arrows are listed on page 177 of the APG. I do not see a listing for blunt bolts yet.

There are blunt arrows in the APG @ 2gp for 20. I'm not aware of any blunt crossbow bolts.

edit: Bob, you frakkin ninja!

Would table GM's be inclined to allow blunt bolts to substitute for blunt arrows or would everyone stick strictly to the RAW? Let's be honest, in 99% of the cases, bows are superior to crossbows (not trying to start a discussion about bow vs. Xbow). Would allowing them have a negative impact on the game or open up pandora's box?

The Exchange

Honestly unless the player make a huge deal about it would you even notice it in the heat of battle?

I don't know...?

I don't have the APG yet, can anyone tell me the Damage and any other important details for blunt arrows?

IMO, blunt arrows or bolts would not make a darn bit of difference to an undead skeleton. However, if "by the rules" blunt bolts make my shots more effective against targets with DR vs Piercing weapons then I'm gonna keep a few handy.

Thanks for the replies!
:)

Arrow, Blunt: These arrows have rounded wooden tips.
They deal bludgeoning damage rather than piercing
damage. An archer can use a blunt arrow to deal nonlethal
damage (at the normal –4 attack penalty for using a lethal
weapon to deal nonlethal damage).

Cool, thanks!

Blunt bolts were used for shooting birds (fowling) in the late middle ages.

In my home game I'd allow someone to do pretty much anything with a crossbow bolt you can do with an arrow. Certainly I'd allow blunt bolts with the same modifiers that blunt arrows have.

Talk to your GM or if you are in PFS suck it up and recognize that the game designers still have much manlove for archers and pick up a bow like everyone else. :P
