i checked out the new gunslinger and the small table that has the equipment for the pistol and musket. the pistol is slated for a range of 20ft, and the musket is 40ft.
looking at the campaign setting book, it lists the pistol range at 60ft, and the musket at 90ft.
i think that having the range of the pistols be set to 60 ft is fine but the musket should be around the 150 ft mark. at the risk of using real world examples in this fantasy example, early marksmen with a musket could hit a human sized target at 100ft, and an expert could hit the same target at 150+ ft.
i plan on playtesting out all three ranges and will give results...

Keep in mind that those are range increments. Most ranged weapons can fire 10 range increments, just with increasing penalties. So with a 20 ft range increment the pistol has an effective maximum range of 200 feet.
Unfortunately in the Playtest document is states that "Unlike other projectile weapons, most firearms have a maximum range of fire range increments."
Which means that a pistol has a max range of 100' and a musket is a max of 200'.

Guns have 5 range increments, it makes 100' maximum range for pistols and 200' for the musket.
Works for me, effective range was a problem for early fireguns, and given the price and rules for the playtest guns I guess that we are talking at very early firearms.
