When I was reading through the Gundlinger, I found it odd that you just got the Deeds listed as a full set, and could expand it slightly by spending precious, precious feats. I thought possible word count meant that you couldn't fit in a full set of choices, ala Rogue Talents and Rage Powers, but then along comes the Ninja as the very next class, with a full list of Ninja Talents.
I feel it would be good to have deeds as a selectable set of elements, in the style of Rogue Talents, with an Extra Deed feat to allow for an expanded list. The present Gunslinger seems quite restricted (character creatiion) options wise, which seems to be slightly against Pathfinder's philosophy in most other classes. It just seems to me the Rogue/Barbarian way is an excellent way to present additional small options for classes, and allow for easy expansion either in future Paizo books or in third party products.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Plans for stake burnings?

I endorse this sentiment whole-heartedly. Most of Paizo's other classes offer one of three things - a set of abilities from which to choose as you go, such as rogue talents, rage powers, or witch hexes; a choice of set paths to follow from the beginning, such as wizard schools, cleric domains, or cavalier orders; or a broad class base that allows for several play styles, like the alchemist's mutagens/bombs/extracts or the bard's performances/spells/martial styles.
By contrast, the gunslinger has one fixed path to take, so aside from feat choices every gunslinger will play the same way.

This is a good idea. The different sets of deeds could build a more pirate / swashbuckler type (ie rapier and gun) for example.

I absolutely agree. I would also add +1 to looking at some of the deeds as Swashbuckling daring-do. In all honesty, you could make it a Swashbuckler class if you didn't want to allow firearms: which apparently some people avidly do not.
Yeah, the firearms does not bother me but I do know that some of my fellow players hate the idea. That is why I would like more options such as a swishbuckler / pirate style rapier / gun or dual hand crossbows (ala demon hunter).
