Don't get too mad at me. ;)
Mathieu has experienced some wretched things and death of friends and family by battle is one. He just prefers that no one die. Mathieu believes that there is a better way, that there doesn't always have to be bloodshed, and that when our time comes, the Lady of Graves will escort us to our final home.

No, no. Not mad at all, hehe. I was working off the difference in personality and background. :) I think it was right in line with what a cleric and paladin should find unnecessary or even repulsive. I was just butchering defenseless people, no matter how bad they were. I thought it was just interesting dialog.

FAILED your perception check! this is from post 302 up at the top of the campaign page:
"Quillin steps over the corpses and through the doorway, into the interior. The room appears to be a common room, with a large trestle table running the length of the room. There are stairs leading downward on the far right side of the room and two closed doors, one on the far left, another on the middle of the right wall. "
according to the description, they're to the left of the door we are facing.

Haha, no crap! I really fudged that one. Thanks.

Honestly though, I really enjoyed the mental picture of the lot of you battering down the kitchen door to get at the roast chicken. The sheer terror of the person on the other side of the door. Chop chop chop....Here's Yergenflorn!

and so on... ; )
BTW Yergie, you can't crit a door, but it's pretty hard to miss one.
I'm sure it will come down in a minute or two. You gonna handwave, ZetaG?

On the chase side: anyone going outside I will need either a perception check or an immediate direction that you think that the fatbandit is running. A perception check will put you one round further behind him.
As always, you will absolutely have the ability to run bigboy to ground. Good luck.
Quillin |
Hmm, well I don't think Smudge is smart enough to actually think ahead which way the bandit would run, although i'd go for the wagon. so it's perception check for the boid:
perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 owl he ain't. Smudge will circle around until he spots something.
as for Quillin, he really didn't see that coming, was the cook using disguise self ?
Spellcraft 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
(this may be one of the few times he gets to actually use this mega-bonus).

Dammit Seamus. I had an awesome chase sequence set up with a fight on a deadfall and a climatic battle in a moonlight gully.
Haha, I thought that something big might happen, but I fear a single level of rogue on a halfling may not have held the day. I was also concerned that I may derailed the main story by breaking the group in two or by the fact everyone came rolling back out the door.
In all fairness you beat my post by three minutes that would have started the fight in the cabin or would have had the boy restrained, lol. I posted and had to delete/re-write. Damn you play by post, haha.

lol. Limitations of the medium. I know what you mean though. I have had that happen to me two or three times now.

Mathieu's Ramblings:
Alright, we got the boy. Now I think we should eat and rest for the night. Then in the morning, secure the place for future use, pack up the wagons and take the boy to his uncle. I'll channel before we sleep to heal everyone up. I also need to go out and check on the bodies/and one bandit that may still be out there. We should probably bury the dead before we call it a night.

Mathieu's Ramblings: Alright, we got the boy.
Um, don't count your chickens before they hatch. Finding the boy and getting the boy are two different things. Call me paranoid, but this DM is really keeping us on our toes. ; )
btw Walt the horses are still attached to the wagon, but they've been used hard and put up wet so IF we rescue the boy, Quillin planned to go take care of the horses so they can be used tomorrow.

I agree with Quillin, I have a real Evil Dead feeling about this cellar business. I really don't like this gap in the wall business, either. Let's get this kid and roll. But be cautious, after that cook's tricks I am not taking anyone at face value, haha.
Seamus Fleetfoot |
DEAD BY DAWN! DEAD BY DAWN! Hope that there aren't any demons getting into the deer heads and my hand, lol. May have graft a Ripsaw Glaive onto the stump after we cut the thing off, lmao.
Seamus Fleetfoot |
I think it will be wise for us to get while the getting is good. It is probably not wise to set up shop after a raid. We need to get the boy back to town and come back with the militia to provide security from bandit retaliation while we search the area which lies beyond the boarded area.
Quillin |
Seamus, now you're just freaking yourself out. If we leave now there is a good chance the bandits will grab whatever goodies are in the ruins below before we get back (and possibly have their souls eaten, but thems the breaks). I vote to get rested up and take a look see in the morning (if we live through the night).
Seamus Fleetfoot |
Haha, good work on Zeta's part there, Quil. I am up for whatever you guys are and will be happy to be the first through the hole. You had to mention Henrietta, grief. BRRRR. So gross. Gave me nightmares as kid and couple as an adult, lol.
ZetaGilgamesh |
Mathieu, I couldn't find any indication that the bandit had been restrained. And I am not about to have the bandit tied up if you didn't want that. Did Mathieu restrain the bandit before healing him? I will write accordingly.

Nuts. With all the rain in the forest from the last few days there is no way that I will be able to light the whole forest on fire if you guys burn the camp. The sight of you all racing before a wall of flame on an out of control wagon would have been spectacular.

Whoa. I posted on the campaign thread and then saw this. You're not doing anything subliminal are you ZetaG? That's freaky. Although I think Quillin threatened to burn the place down earlier when the cook wouldn't come out.
Walter Orlin |
Burn it down?!? I was considering keeping it as our own little outpost. But if you guys don't want to keep it. I guess burning it down would work. It would also be a good starter home for anyone who is trying to make a living in these wilds.
But then what if other adventurers find it and think we are the bandits?
Yergenflorn Vlandershluden |
I think getting the kid safely back is a priority. We can come back for the fort.
Oh, side note: I'm trying to pick out which adventure path to start with my meatspace gaming group. I generated a little chart. Do you think that it gives too much away?
