i think its would be ever reasonable instead of giving a lvl 1 pc 1000gp
items as they start off, to let the gunslinger class abilities also apply to crossbows. this would make the class more class open to pcs whose dm dont allow guns in there games or have low gold games and could not pay for the ammo
hand crossbow = pistol
light crossbow and heavy crossbow = musket

I can't help but notice that every board I've looked at you are advocating the crossbow, while it does make sense from a realism perspective gunslingers use guns, anybody with simple weapon proficiency can use crossbows.

ya sorry that was due to frustration. i see you point but if you look at the actions in evolved firing ether weapons is quit simple aim it at something pull trigger. the only thing that makes the weapons different is the way they are loaded which is true lauding a flint lock pistol is every hard even for some one trained in doing it enough to make it need a feat just to use.
all so i dont think the name is enough to pigeon hole the class or is dose all monks have to be bald

Um, no, how do you learn to use a gun if you don't have a gun? Reloading a Crossbow and a pistol are not the same.
As far as the GM who doesn't allow guns, don't use the class or house-rule it for that game, don't destroy the flavor of the class before it even hits the shelves.
how you learn is up to the flavor of you not the class
and you are right reloading is different its the only differences
im not kill the flavor of the class i tiring to make the class for every game so any one could play it (hell i have watched shows where cowboy type carters where killing vampires with crossbows i saw no destroying of flavor still a cow boy just with a different weapon)

I don't think it's reasonable at all. The class is a gunslinger, not a crossbowslinger. While yes, there could very well be a problem with a 1st level PC having that much wealth at that level, I feel there would be a worse problem with sticking one with a crossbow for several levels only to magically come up with a gun at X level, especially in the Golarion setting where guns come from one place that jealously guards them and doesn't have magic with which to teleport a gun to somebody.
I think the problem is better left to the minds that brought us the class in the first place, but I would be really disappointed if they made it work with crossbows too.

I would be ok with a William Tell-like archetype such as that.

i not tiring to say they just get one i saying if they want one they should get there self like every other person in the game
and why would that disappoint you rather then be like every other pc one gets a 1000gp item a the start of the game. i would be more disappointed when my class is useless when i run out of ammo in the cave and every one dose not want to go back for resupply

Not really on topic, but Austin, do you think you could maybe stop posting "hey do you think we could use crossbows instead of guns" in every single gunslinger thread? It's a little annoying.
I get that you are excited about your idea, but you've made a thread about it right here, there's no need to comment elsewhere, especially not everyelsewhere.

Call it a Boltslinger and it sounds better, not crossbowslinget (why am I throwing crossbows around?). I would also like to mark my wish that this Fighter-Alt class be given some play with the crossbow. Better yet UC would be a sick place to introduce some Exotic higher power/damage crossbows.
The last time I allowed a free gun onto a character was back in 2nd Edition.

Personally, i treat firearms as crossbows for ALL PURPOSES, except that i simply house-ruled that there is an equivalent firearm feat for every crossbow feat. Longarms are equivalent to heavy crossbows, and One handed firearms are like light crossbows. To dual wield pistols, i required something similar to monkey grip, since they are flipping hand cannons, not the light pistols of today.

i dont want to sound like im repeating my self but it could be broken down in to 2 one arch-types for fighters and a new class that uses grit with any weapon like a swashbuckler or something
A "Grit" fighter variant with accompanying archetypes that "work well" with it. That way you can still have a Gun Grit or Gun Generalist; Crossbow Grit/Generalist?
