My Final Stag Lord Fight

Kingmaker

I created cardboard terrain for the final Stag Lord fight. I modified the map for my fort so it looks different than the map from the adventure path. The black areas are covered by Black posterboard to simulate fog-of-war. I didn't use a square grid so we just measured the distance like you do in table top wargames. This gave a lot of freedom as far as placement. Enjoy the pics.

P.S. After the first ignoble defeat of my PCs they returned and unleashed furious vengeance on the Stag Lord and his cronies.

Go to Stag Lord Fight.

Awesome!

Cool I also see herolabs hard at work

This looks like a lot of fun. When you're doing this, do people in your group get irritated about no grids?

Herolabs really helped with all the NPCs running around =)

I had been wanting to try the (No grid) because grids seem contrived and restrictive and I was pleased with how the PCs handled it. I am a veteran table top War gamer and we use measuring sticks to measure range so I just did the same with the PCs and this seemed pretty easy for them (1"=5'). I also liked the fact that the PCs couldn't just eyeball ranges by counting squares.

Lord, that fight for our group was SO intense. Half of the party was late to the session so we ended up starting without them. So when they finally showed up we (PC and Metagame) had no real idea what our strategy was.
It was chaotic, brutal, and fun.

Awesome battle field btdubs!!

The Exchange

Very nice!

The next campaign I run will have no grids. Just scenery drawn out or placed. Thanks for letting me know.
