Quite a few people have mentioned X-COM, and expressed disquiet that the new 'XCOM' game is a first-person shooter.
Firaxis - the makers of CIVILIZATION - have listened to your pleas (well, not yours specifically, but the harsh outcry from the Internet in general) and will be releasing a modern update of XCOM: ENEMY UNKNOWN in 2012. It's still turn-based, it has base-building, it has the Geoscape screen, it has R&D. It pretty much has everything from the original (er, although the action point system has been simplified and you can only take 4 men on missions).
The FPS has also been pushed back to 2013 for reasons unknown.
They're re-making UFO and keeping it in turn based form? And it's being made by Firaxis? I don't think I've been so excited to learn more about a game in... well... in forever!

Know what game I'd like to see again? Dragon Warrior Monsters 2, originally on the GBC. Yes, I know that Dragon Quest Monsters is still going, and I'm glad for that. But DWM2 had a very interesting feature that DQMJ doesn't have: A plotline that doesn't feel like Pokemon. Sure, you're this kid out to save your town. However: 1) You're just saving the island you live on, not the whole frikkin' world, and 2) Other characters keep making fun of/mentioning that YOU'RE JUST A KID. Not just mentioned condescendingly by the bad guys: One bartender almost kicks you out of the bar for being underage, then changes his mind by admitting that he doesn't get many customers anyway.
Plus, DWM2 had one of the best postgames of any RPG I've ever played: RANDOMLY. GENERATED. WORLDS. Not just "You can go back into the Doomy Dungeon of Doom and levelgrind up to 99 if you feel like it", not just "Now it's time to track down where the f$#! the last 40 monsters could be hiding," the game actually creates huge worlds! With towns! And dungeons! And you can explore as many as you want! Bored with this one? Find another Magic Key and go check out a new one! Mind you, this was on the Game Boy Color, a game system with less processing power than most calculators today!
Note to SquareEnix: The DQM series did make some nice improvements (Combining monsters is way easier, catching them is WAY, WAY easier), but want to make it downright fun again? Do the randomly generated worlds from DWM2.

I've just learned, that there is a 'Carrier Command' remake in the works. I really hope they don't wreck this...
There's a good preview of it here.
In short, it's looking very faithful to the original. The only major differences are the addition of a purely optional campaign mode (featuring cut scenes and a mission-based structure) alongside the massive freeform mode, and the fact it's set on another planet rather than an artificially-created island chain in the Pacific.

I was crazy giddy when I first heard this news.
Some icing on the cake: The OTHER X-Com game has been delayed so that it'll actually come out AFTER this one. Also, there's been talk about you being able to customize your squad members' appearances, giving further customization to those who enjoyed naming their team members and getting attached to them before they got killed by Chrysalids or exploding gas stations or panicked team members.

Know another game just crying out for a remake?
Freelancer.
If you haven't heard of it, it's one of the last space-exploration games to have been made in a long while (besides maybe the X series). It was much more action-y and played much smoother than most spaceship games, however; one-button docking, mouse-controlled combat... it was a lot of fun. Most notably, there were a bunch of cool features that were going to be included, but Digital Anvil had to scrap them when they started running out of time and money. It'd be nice to see Freelancer with some of those planned features...

You know all that love for Tower of Doom and Shadow over Mystara?
THE GANG IS BACK TOGETHER.
THEY'RE WORKING WITH VANILLASOFT.
HOLY FRACKING GAWDS DRAGON CROWN.
And most of the team is comprised of people who worked on ToD and SoM.
...and there was not a dry eye (or seat) in the house...

I'd also like to see another go at Oni, but with multiplayer this time. We have plenty of games now that combine fighter game style melee combo systems with 3rd person shooter style, it shouldn't be hard to do. The Chrysalis Symbiote could add a really cool RPGish customization element in a sequel.
Edit oops, already posted back in November about 3 MoO2, Battlefront, and X-wing/Tie Fighter. There is Starbase Orion on iOS, but its still missing some elements.
Although I will say, by Old Republic era Sith bright pink panties (I've been seeing those dance videos of SWTOR on YouTube), it's been to long since a good open Star Wars dogfighter. 32 or 64 player full on multi-squadron dust ups would be so, so nice.
