In annother thread someone mentioned that you can cast a quickened shocking grasp and it gives you a free melee attack from spell strike. I do not want to see this used in games, and think it will break things. I think Spell Strike should be clarified to only give you the free melee attack on spells with standard action casting times. You should still be able to channel the quickened strike, but you should not get the free melee attack from it.

How will it possibly break anything? Casting quickened shocking grasp normally gives you a free TOUCH attack!
Spellstriking the spell is strictly worse as it is no longer a touch attack. You get a little bit more melee damage, but you are much more likely to miss the attack altogether.
Even if you found a scenario where such a thing was more beneficial (a low AC high HP monster, for example), than it is still balanced considering you just used a 5th-level spell slot.

No other martial class can do a swift action melee attack. A 5th level slot is not the only way to do it, considering quickened lesser rods are not that expensive at high levels. This allows them to get an extra melee attack on top of a full attack and a spell. Considering that melee attack is very likely doing more damage than the spell it is attached to, yes, I consider that a serious flaw. I do not think it is part of the design intent, and I think it brings the class to a higher power level than other martial classes.

With a lesser rod of quicken, they could cast a quickened ranged spell like fireball(not 100% up to date on the latest spell list) and still make a full attack + spell. I just don't see how a free touch attack via a quickened spell really breaks the class.
Sorry, but this really seems like a non-issue.

It is a non-issue.

God forbid there be something to differentiate the magus from the other fighting classes. /sarcasm
